@rickt.1870 There is no way to permanently disable the Auto Stop/Start function. Only temporarily. If you code the car, you are risking warranty rights. Every service appointment erases any coding you did personally back to the factory status.
Bro … in your spin between the cars you mentioned that there is a new and old mild hybrid systems without open the hood of each one and explain if it is an BSG or an ISG as the most are confused, the 2025 lci 3 and 4 series now had an BSG with that big purple cable but the start stop button still there !!! Sorry but we need an extended review 😅
friend, please wrt 24 m40i in which you were sitting at 2:00 mark…. please, how can i disable this auto engine on/off? brand new (wife’s), not even plated yet. anyway, the auto on/off in mild traffic - driving me crazy. i’d much rather idle some fuel than wear out a starter. nothing in settings… any ideas? sport individual offer options maybe? i really could use a helping hand here. - dave
@I_will_try_to_be_brief If it is a 2024 or newer, the only way is temporarily not permanent. The temporary way is to drive in Sport mode when entering the car. Gear lever to the left is too much, in my opinion, for it revs up higher than it needs to even though it only puts transmission in Sport. Letting go of brakes slightly at a stop will start engine as well.
@@theautointuitive3172 thanks. i had found answer in interim, but do appreciate. additionally, for my wife, using her key, i have adjusted here ‘sport individual’ to put all four settings on comfort, so she’s in a variety of sport, and the engine not shutting off, and yet it performs like comfort in every way. our first BMW, she wanted; i must say, i’m disappointed with the large extent of engineers’ assumptions at play here. take care
@I_will_try_to_be_brief Glad things worked out for you. I am hoping to speak with the engineers as well. Perhaps creating simpler Owners Manuals in the future. Volvo now gives you a quick guide and not a fully detailed manual.
@billmurray3505 I don't work with diesels, unfortunately. I am confident they work similarly. Depends with the year of the car, a current X5 turns on if you drive it in Sport or releasing brakes slightly. It does 20+ prerequisites before shutting off.
Im considering buying a 2025 X5, X7, or XM. I detest auto start stop enough that I will not buy the car if I can not disable it. Can I disable it on any of these models? If not, I will choose another brand but wanted one of these...
@seanlavin7320 The function will be in most brands eventually. There are years with the button for disabling, and you can code it. Except when you service at BMW again, it removes the code and back to factory settings. I don't advise changing software or coding if still under warranty
@Murdaoneproductions Drive in normal Sport mode. There is no way to be fully disabled. Letting go of brakes slightly also starts the car. It does about different 20 calculations before turning off automatically. Programming it out 3rd party is not wise as it may disable your warranty, too. Service appointment puts it back to factory behavior.
My wife has a 2024 X5, and when we picked it up, I asked the technician how to disable start/stop. He told us that it couldn't be disabled.
good

330i x where is the start/stop engine button
@seenalewis7564 Could be behind wiper stick or next to gear lever/switch depending with the generation. Always close to Engine Start button in BMWs.
23 and up x7 auto stop start disable?
