    this is one of the very best video's on youtube in my opinion. the way you explain things, while also giving the specific warnings of the products. It's amazing I'm a fairly new collector about 3 years now since I was 17, so this video is super helpful for the upcoming problems. thank you so much greetings from Belgium

      Thanks! I'm so glad this was helpful to collectors! I used to get so nervous performing surgery on my higher-end figures. But once I got more experience and knew what to expect it wasn't such a dramatic event for me. So I thought I should share in the hope that more great figures out there in circulation could be preserved and displayed longer!

    Great tutorial, man! I started purchasing Hot Toys and Sideshow figures back when I was in high school in 2008. Haven't had a small mishap until today. Leather Tunic button fell off my 1/6th Darth maul: duel on naboo. Fixed because of this video! Mucho appreciated!

    Nice video! I have HT MMS239 black widow and the side leather on her outfit is so thin and fragile the air has damaged it over time and is now flaking off. Would you have any suggestions how to fix that by applying some kind of leather style paint/coating on to replace the original? As it's my favourite version of her and would rather not have to sell it. Thanks

    Hey, cool video, wondering if you'd have any tips for the Hot Toys movie Deadpool. I had mine posed in a crazy mid air jump kick, and I guess at some point moving the legs I did something to cause the strap on one of the gun holsters to come off and it's just dangling outward all awkwardly. Would that e6000 glue be a good solution for gluing the end of the strap back onto the holster where it belongs?

    Awesome vids man! Glad to know what to use if I ever need to glue something back, I have a question tho about my DX Indiana jones figure. What can I apply on his jacket to keep the leather or pleather from peeling or flaking? I'm scared its gonna start peeling eventually. Thanks man

    • @buriedegg8636
      @buriedegg8636  8 лет назад

      +take1er Thanks for the question. I seriously wouldn't do anything at all to the jacket. That Indiana DX is a more recent release from Hot Toys and the jacket seems to be of a different, more resilient material. I have the same one. It's awesome :-)
      If it does start to show signs of flaking or even cracks then let's revisit this. But I have feeling this is a new generation of much better materials.

    Hey, i just had a paint scrape on my SIdeshow Darth Vader helmet. It's a plastic gloss black and the scrapes are silver colored. A friend wants to use a gloss paint but another says some kind of compound to buff it out. What do you reccamend?

    • @buriedegg8636
      @buriedegg8636  8 лет назад +1

      +sserpent21 Oooh! Is it the Sideshow one with the removable helmet that reveals his damaged face underneath? If so, that's a shame. That is my absolute favorite 1/6 scale Vader, hands down!
      I don't know how safe it's gonna be to start adding permanently adhesive compounds and buffing away on that small plastic helmet. If that happened to mine I'd start with small touch ups (no compounds) first, and see how it looks. Vader's helmet is not like other costume pieces. His helmet is iconic, and that perfect shine and **perfectly smooth** dome is part of what makes his character. That black, shining, frowning scowl looming over everyone as he delivers his commands. Like a thundercloud about to burst!
      You had better be sure that you can buff and shape that thing back to a perfectly smooth reflective surface again!
      Anyway, the only way I would get really experimental like that would be if I had a backup helmet ordered over ebay or something. Your friend may be able to do it. But, if he's wrong, you're going to need a new helmet!

      captainxray For any fabric-based clothing (not leather or pleather) I would always recommend the E-6000. It's actually the stuff the real world fashion industry uses anyway. Frequently, in repairing 1/6th scale figures we have to find what works and improvise, but in the case of E6000, this is the absolute most appropriate application for the product!

      Is it the 1/6 Scale Figure (Plastic) or the 1/4 Scale Premium Format Statue (Polystone)? If it's the Premium Format 1/4 Scale then you'll have to hit up the collector communities online because I don't collect Polystone Statues. I did find this guide to gluing them: www.ehow.com/how_8724359_fix-broken-polystone-statue.html
      Use at your own risk.
      If it's the plastic 1/6 Scale figure then I would first try Ambroid ProWeld. If the claws are too delicate and thin for glue, then you might consider using a soldering iron. Easier than you may think!
      Just make a couple tiny, pin-point sized, spot-welds in unobtrusive places and it should hold together just fine... that is, if it's made of plastic. Careful, don't get carried away, tho! Good luck!

    Is there any way to fix loose faceplates that do not have a strong magnet connection on the Hot Toys Iron Man armor? My stealth Mark VII has this issue.

    • @buriedegg8636
      @buriedegg8636  8 лет назад

      +Michael Cabrera What is making the magnet connection weak? Is the magnet falling off or something? I've never heard of a 'weak' magnet. It either works or it doesn't. No in-between.

    • @michaelcabrera794
      @michaelcabrera794 8 лет назад

      Its a known defect with the Stralth Mark VII that Sideshoe was aware of and providing replacements to. (Check the Sideshow Freaks forum about the Stealth Mark VII if you are a member. There are tons of complaints about it.) I bought this figure back in May and only opened it now in October, so im not sure Sideshow will replace the facemask because its well after the 30 day replacement guarantee. I believe the issue is the spacing/placement of the magnet on the face battery cover is not flush with the magnet behind the facemask. Not so a weak connection as I originally thought.

    • @buriedegg8636
      @buriedegg8636  8 лет назад

      I'd have to see it to provide technical support. The only Mark VII I own is the regular ol' Sideshow Exclusive with the extra alternate damaged armor parts and the hologram figure.
      My guess is the magnet is sitting to low/too deeply in the plastic of the faceplate. Maybe rip it out and add some hot glue underneath to "build up" the "bed" that the magnet rests on. That should allow it to meet the other magnet much closer and give it a stronger connection.
      Hope what I'm picturing is accurate with the problem you're describing!

      I actually have the same problem but with the regular Mark VII

    • @michaelcabrera794
      @michaelcabrera794 8 лет назад

      It turns out that the magnet is not coming in contact with the other magnet. I guess that was the flaw with these first batches of the Stealth Mark 7 I was able to slip an extra thin piece to make up for the "space" but I wasn't gutsy enough to glue it or attach it permanently. I plan on reselling this off and don't want to alter it any further.

      I've never seen the Japanese Corpse Bride dolls in person. Only pictures. Not sure what materials they are made of either; Fabric? PVC Plastic? Post up pictures of your damage so I can see exactly what kind of joint we're repairing.
      If its plastic then we can choose a glue or fastener that will allow us to conceal the repair as much as possible. If fabric, then we're definitely going to be using E6000. Don't do anything until I see pictures and know what materials they are made of!

      kanatapaw Okay, if the break is on the part of the neck that is hidden from view, when inserted up into the bottom of the head, then you can use something sloppy, quick, and strong like Hot Glue or E6000.
      However. if the break is a crack along the part of the neck that you can see even with the head attached, then your 1st choice might be Ambroid Pro Weld. Problem is, without knowing the exact type of plastic (ABS, PVC, etc) Pro Weld might not stick to it. You can use the demonstration in the video to guide you through the delicate use of Ambroid Pro Weld. Whatever glue you use on the visible parts of the neck will have to be applied sparingly and very carefully with small putty knife or other "hobby" applicator. Good luck!

    I recently purchased a age of ultron black widow figure,
    the problem is the hands won't change as the peg hole looks small any way to fix it

      +TheWolf Gamer Well the Hot Toys Manual that comes with it probably told you to warm the hands/joints with a hair dryer or warm water or something equally crazy like that. I' would just use a tiny drill bit or micro-computing screw driver to gently widen the hole for the peg. I would never hit my Hot Toys with water (warm or cold) or hair dryer!

    Thanks for the informative video. I was wondering if you had any suggestions for replacing small magnets. I recently ordered the 1/6th scale Sideshow Indiana Jones Raiders figure off Amazon. The figure looks great and has a lot of accessories. However I noticed that the strap that holds his coiled whip at the hip is missing a magnet that should hold it in place. You can see it next to his satchel in this pic. plasticandplush.com/images/2008/02/19/ij2.jpg
    Do you think Sideshow has replacement magnets that they could send and what glue would you recommend?

      +Linkman247 I just googled "tiny magnets" and found a ton of stuff. Thanks for the link! what might you recommend to glue them to leather?

    • @buriedegg8636
      @buriedegg8636  8 лет назад

      +Linkman247 Oh, dude! Be CAREFUL! With Hot Toys leather/clothing you want to start with the least damaging adhesives first. I ALWAYS use hot glue on HT leather. I mean take the head or tip of a needle or tiny micro-screwdriver, and use it to apply a drop of heated hot glue from the glue gun.
      If the hot glue doesn't work then move to E-6000 glue from the Art Store (like "Michael's" or something).

      Buried Egg Thank you very much. I mean I would hate to ruin the figure right after I got it. I did see where you recommended to use an applicator to apply hot glue first in your video. Thanks for the video. Great to know there are folks like you who help people repair their figures :).

      +Rocky MegaBlast Okay, I've been remiss in uploading videos for a looooonnnng time. I do have a "Plastic Welding" How-To video I need to overdub and then upload. The solution to both +Rocky Megablast and +ToxicEmber 's problems is going to be Plastic Welding. Its easier than you think and I use it all the time. Lemme find the time to edit and upload the instructional video!
