Excellent guide, amazing effort man. I'm sure I could have never found these hidden secrets on my own. Your walkthrough was very vivid. One thing I'd like to point out, is that the Module at 51:12 is actually now updated and is on the right, down the stairs, in a dark area.
I found another gearbit he didn't find: At 12:30, as soon as you enter the cave there's a gearbit hidden behind the foliage at your left, just mash the melee button a couple times and you should get it
I have to admit; I thought I was being very attentive to my surroundings during my first playthrough of this game. But I'm starting to find all these secret walls and paths I never thought was accessible before, and even markers and ledges I thought I had checked because I KNEW something was over there I either skipped or thought twice and forehead slapped myself after. hey man, just wanna let you know how useful these videos were. Hyper light drifter quickly became one of my favourite games and i so after playing through each area blind, I would watch the walkthrough for all the secrets and get them right after. you made this game even more enjoyable for me so thank you so much hahahaha
I didn't know which area to go to first, so I decided to go west. So yeah, I've wasted a ton of time learning mechanics of the hardest boss of all three ony to realize I could have just gone east instead
2022 on the Switch - the enemies are at 52:09 but the power module is down the steps to the right of where it is shown in this video. Otherwise, this video has been amazing and spot on 6 yrs later. Can't overstate how well you did this, my man.
I'm coming back to this after a 4 year hiatus because I was bent on getting the one shot achievement. Forgot I missed one key and some bits so these guides have made it quite easy to backtrack in a single loop instead of just dashing everywhere again.
+Firrox thanks :D Here's another: There's 10 types of people in this world, those that understand binary, those that don't, and those that didn't expect this joke to be in base 3.
Man your videos were real helpful back when I played this amazing game earlier this year. Saw it in my library and I just had instant flashbacks of these videos. Just a great chill walkthrough to help collect all the little hidden collectables I would have probably never found otherwise. If I still had the time I would for sure be watching full length gameplay videos like these. Feels like your playing through the game with your homie. Thanks for the help even after 7 years of uploading this lol.
Thank you so much! As one of my favorite games I have always wanted to 100% it, but it's achievements are super daunting. Playing it in tandem with this video feels like having a friend play it with you. I can't wait to finish the series!
Thank you so much for this walkthrough! I beat the East and West bosses on my own, but I could not figure out where all the light bits and bites were. You pointed out so many helpful tips for the game in general. Keep up the good work!
52:00 Anyone else notice that this module location is now changed? There's now a door into a room containing the module. It's a weirdly small detail for them to patch
Yeah, that's an interesting change. There's probably some weird bug or obscure programming reason for it, as a guess. Or they just really liked that room.
@OP Though you have probably already been told this (in reference to your statement between 54:00 and 55:00), enemies *and* health kits respawn whenever you use the overworld teleporting pads to teleport. Using them to heal up (stand on and hold action button) does not trigger this. Hope this helps!
Hey man, just wanted to say thanks for the guide. At first I thought to myself that I would be annoyed by the commentary, but you actually helped cut through the monotony of getting gearbits, so thanks for that as well!
This was so good, I already had 6 modules for this area, but for every area I had already explored, I'd watch you and if there wasn't anything I missed, skip it. If it was a new area I'd go first, then watch you and backtrack what I missed, watching the video on my phone while I played. It was kinda like playing it with you and really fun? Lol. Definitely gonna do the other areas like this as well. (I've beaten the first 3 bosses already)
Thank you so much, I'm going through to 100% the game now and get all achievements and this has been very helpful. I feel like there's been a few updates since this video because I have at least 2 more bits than you do by the end of the boss, but it helped me find some secrets I missed :D great video
not sure if you'll get a notification for this, but I wanted to thank you for the videos you created for Hyper Light Drifter. Because of you, I was able to get all 23 achievements.
Me and my boyfriend have been playing this. We love it, but we felt like we couldn't figure anything out. So we've found some of the stuff in your videos. We've gotten probably about 1/3 or 1/2 of the stuff you find in your videos but there was SO MUCH secret stuff we had NO idea about, like extra weapons, enemies dropping things, secret passages, keys, etc. Your videos have been such a help, granted sicne we've already been to all the areas and haven't completed them, there's a lot of things were having to redo. But it's been really cool that we've actually been able to make progress in the game. Had no idea there was so much to this game! Love the content, relaxing too.
I started playing again using your guides to go back and get everything i missed only to discover my save file was on newcomer, so now i need to play through everything again but your guides are so well done im actively looking forward to it!
hey! i don't know how you did it, but i liked your video, it left an impression on me. it's not flashy, loud and intense. it's just like the game - kinda minimalistic, intimate and nice. i dunno, it was soothing and helpful at the same time. thanks!
Your videos were really well made and I needed the help on finding that last monolith >.< so thank you!! Hyper Light Drifter was such a good game. I managed to beat the last boss without doing a lot of the extra secrets, eventually I went back and found all of the power modules on my own but those gear bits and monoliths were tough hehe
Amazing video, I can't believe how calm you are throughout, especially during the boss battle. Playing on the Switch here, the power module at around 52 minutes is oddly in a little cave to the right of where it is in your video.
Well, I was much less calm the first time through xD Yes, some later patch made some small (curious) changes to the locations of things. At least the video is still mostly accurate. Thanks for the comment.
Thanks so much! I had 171 gearbits, and i completely missed the one at 9:07, even though I checked there again after running through it again. And usually I always slash at random :O This may be for the South video you no doubt will make, but I figured the last one had to be near the 16-key door, to the lower left of it where you see a platform if you dash, or in the East, right in the room where you get the first mandatory Module. Now I can be 99,9% sure those areas are probably nothing :D
+Faberjej0 it's a surprisingly easy one to miss. Even the speedrunners missed it in the first few runs! I'll keep that in mind when making the South video. I wonder how many Gearbits there are in total. 172 definitely sounds like a possible total. Would leave 3 spare Gearbytes.
I can see why. Also, i have 172 bits now and all the outfits, monoliths, weapons etc, but the Hoarder achievement still hasn't popped up yet, I wonder what is missing then, if any...
Great video. I just bought the game for xbox and I'm having a blast. I don't know how you discovered all this stuff but I appreciate your time posting it.
Lots of running into walls :) as well as help from other players in the community. A later patch added a small icon to mark secrets, maybe you've noticed it? The game tries to subtly hint at where secrets may be, but not all are well telegraphed.
Thank you so much for doing this. I beat the game on my own and found most of the stuff but some things are reeeeaally well hidden... So thank you again for making this. I'm eagerly waiting for the next video!
Thank you so much for doing this. Anyway, your Eastern video helped a lot but through sheer force of repetition i managed to get all the 32 nodes on my own :D
Thank you for your guide, man. When playing on Switch in handheld mode, I can't see some squared marks on the ground, missing invisible platforms and stuff. Very useful video, I just felt bad when the area's boss appeared, it really made me crazy! -.-
Well, I had played the game a few times through by this point. They can get you with some pretty nasty patterns sometimes though. With practice, everything will get easier :) the combat is quite fun!
Haha! Yeah I'm starting to get better at it, but I have to say, all of the extra things you can buy help a lot x), I started with the North, I regretted haha Tterraj42
*skips through the video looking for one module* so now for the last one *drifter enters the last door opened by getting all the modules* MISSED IT AGAIN, DAMN YOU HYPER LIGHT DRIFTER!!!
Thanks dude for this great tutorial. I'm trying to complete every stage without help, but some places are really hard to find it. I'll use your guides when I get stuck in some area, for sure. 😉
Thanks for your videos. Haven't helped but with the odd gearbit, but I'm still following along in the chance it'll help narrow down this last key I'm missing. But well done content, and good listening voice too boot!
+Tterraj42 No doubt. The atmosphere they have developed really gave me the chills sometimes. May I ask if you have found the final gearbit you said you are missing in the last part of this series? I am at endgame and have found everything. I have 3 leftover gearbytes and 3 bits, so I assume I am also missing at least one.
Yep, I found it in the steam 100% guide actually. #34 in the East. I'll include it in the final video, which should be up in a day or two. With the 9 new ones, that brings the total to 185, so I think we've found em all!
+Tterraj42 I've found some more I missed. I now have 4 gearbytes and 3 gearbits. How many would you have if you found them all and purchased everything?
it looks like in the most recent patch they added little symbols on the ground showing where hidden paths are located. it looks like the ? icon the sprite displays
It does! Especially with the time stamps. There aren't so many videos for secrets on HLD and many are 1h long let's play with no time stamps. :( Kudos to you. ;)
Just download this on the switch. What a great game. I completely missed the secret area with the staircase 😂 As someone that got this game yeats later, thank you so much for this guide.
Good to hear. Atleast the other stages aren't as infuriating as that. Kind of sick of the game when you die a couple of times but a good rest and a peace of mind is enough for me to get back into the game.
Thank you! I'm going for platinum on PS4 and this really helped me out! :) I also started a new character but after this video i ended up with 46 gear bits. You marked one of them afterwards but i don't know where i got the other one from. :'D
They added 3 Gearbits as enemy drops after I made this video. So they're a little different. But if you follow the whole playlist, you should get them all. Tracking down Gearbits is the toughest part. Good luck :)
Hi! I followed your guide step by step, room by room, and at the end I noticed I've got 48 gearbits, one more than you have. Is this due to the latest updates ( maybe the devs added it as a drop from some enemy ) or is the extra gearbit I have the one you forgot to pick up at 12:28 ? Thank you in advance! ^^
Yes, a later patched added 3 Gearbit drops from enemies in the North, East, and West. So the count is a little off. I think the new current total is 185. If you follow each video, you'll eventually get them all. Sorry it's a bit all over the place, tracking down Gearbits is pretty tough. Good luck :)

GOATED COMMENT FOR A GOATED VIDEO !
This is an incredible amount of work, and you are doing an awesome job at it!

I love watching this. Your commentary is so relaxed and perfect for this game
@@crust-ian it is a great theory, but it is quite the opposite actually. I have to admit; I thought I was being very attentive to my surroundings during my first playthrough of this game. It's a pain to go through this game completely blind and wander around for hours looking for that one power module you somehow missed.
yeah, you get real familiar with the walls in a lot of these areas...
Tterraj42 You can say that again... I could probably list every collectable and secret in North and West when playing the game...
I didn't know which area to go to first, so I decided to go west. So yeah, I've wasted a ton of time learning mechanics of the hardest boss of all three ony to realize I could have just gone east instead

that crow fight at the end took me longer than the damn North boss fight 😂
"deja vu" *jumps off*
ey thanks for the vids man, these were seamless walkthroughs. big ups \m/
I beat the north first, and then watched this to collect everything, Great job!
I'm coming back to this after a 4 year hiatus because I was bent on getting the one shot achievement. Forgot I missed one key and some bits so these guides have made it quite easy to backtrack in a single loop instead of just dashing everywhere again.

Exactly what i was looking for. Awesome walkthrough, awesome game. I'll probably repeat this process with all of your other videos too
Enjoy the journey :)

It wasn't always so easy. Learning to this point was also painful.
Hey man, just wanted you to know you work is very much appreciated, also huge time saver because of the time stamps. Thx a bunch!!!
+Jorge Ramos thanks :) all these nice comments have meant a lot.

That gearbit 45 was a nasty one! Thanks for the videos, you are awesome!
ugh, you're a good person. I missed one of the keys and monoliths and this saved me
The last ones are always the hardest to find. Glad to hear you've got them all now :)

This video is so good thx! While watching your video I have the drifter sitting and taking in the view
That last part, on NG+, was considerably the most difficult thing I have ever done in a video game. Ever.
Playing NG+ on the switch and fighting the completely optional boss to get the throwing sword I personally think was a little harder. It took me weeks
Thank you really much for doing these. Can't wait for the rest of the areas!

+John Pena no problem. not knowing how to get to a secret just out of reach is super frustrating.
When he said he wanted to restart and started talking about a secret discovery I knew exactly what he was talking about
I don't always play video games, but when I do, I prefer Hyper Light Drifter.
Nice walkthrough. Appreciated the hard work, thanks man.
Thank you so much for doing this. Anyway, your Eastern video helped a lot but through sheer force of repetition i managed to get all the 32 nodes on my own :D
+MrDJCoulton nice! I know how hard it can be to track down those last few.
Thank you immensely!!! I would not have found all the keys without your guides. The last one I was missing was Key 2 (below the blocks)
Best guide channel I have ever seen
All 1 guide on it :P but thanks, I appreciate that :)
@@TterraJ42 Its obvious you put effort into these videos and it helped me get all the power modules in 2 different reigns Thank you!!
Your videos are amazing man! Great job!
+Vinícius Karaski Thanks! :)
Thank you for your guide, man. When playing on Switch in handheld mode, I can't see some squared marks on the ground, missing invisible platforms and stuff. Very useful video, I just felt bad when the area's boss appeared, it really made me crazy! -.-
Excellent, excellent, excellent! Thank you for all the hard work. I enjoyed watching this video almost as much as playing the game.
Thanks :) That's quite a compliment!
You make it look so easy! Each boss took me like 25 tries, no kidding!
By the way I know the missing gear, I found it, but I can't remember where and when now xD But there was a secret platform somewhere that you missed!
*skips through the video looking for one module* so now for the last one *drifter enters the last door opened by getting all the modules* MISSED IT AGAIN, DAMN YOU HYPER LIGHT DRIFTER!!!
Heh. There's a timestamp for each module. Check the description.
Tterraj42 yeah noticed it too, not before I wrote this comment tho :D
Thanks dude for this great tutorial. I'm trying to complete every stage without help, but some places are really hard to find it. I'll use your guides when I get stuck in some area, for sure. 😉
did they change part of the map in updates? cause at 52:02 the map has stairs leading to the module thing instead of in the snow
Second time I've heard this, so I guess so. Sounds like I need to replay things and see what's changed.
@@TterraJ42 Switch player here. I affirm that.
Yes, you're right, I played changed version)
This is a great guide man, I can't believe how much I missed! I think you've earned yourself a sub lol
They really packed in the secrets in the North. Glad the videos are helping, and thanks for the sub :)
This game is just a definition of "WHO THOUGHT IT WILL BE A GOOD PLACE FOR IT?"
Thanks for your videos. Haven't helped but with the odd gearbit, but I'm still following along in the chance it'll help narrow down this last key I'm missing. But well done content, and good listening voice too boot!
+BeRitCrunk Thanks :) West should be done soon. Either you'll find it there or know it's in the South then.
Awesome work!
one addition: there's a gearbit to the left inside the entrance of the cave that leads to the NPC/2nd monolith
+Pyro Mantis wow, can't believe I missed that one. whoops. I'll make a followup video with that and any other gearbits that turn up. Thanks :)
+Tterraj42 We all miss stuff ;)
I came here 'cause I couldn't find the last power module (which is actually the first one you see in the video)
+Pyro Mantis Yeah, same for me. That was a tricky one. Secrets inside Secrets...
The robot is your HUD! It's like your mini supercomputer. It's like Samus scan visor. Nice tutorials btw appreciate it
+Robby Traf I see that now :) I also heard it's called a Sprite. Wish I knew the names of more things in this game. It's such a cool world.
+Robby Traf Nvm, I've been through most of the HLD reddit threads and read your replies. I'm still missing 5 so I'll hunt on
Once again, you are amazing dude!
Great job, this is super helpful!
+Max Weinzierl glad to hear :D
thank you thank you thank you, very informative and good video i like your commentary and thanks for the help and the warning at 37:20
thanks :) and yeah, experiencing the secrets yourself is one of the best parts of the game, so I wanted to give people that chance here.
Thx for the videos, awesome!
it looks like in the most recent patch they added little symbols on the ground showing where hidden paths are located. it looks like the ? icon the sprite displays
+Woodson Gaming ah, interesting. Probably for the best, some weren't well indicated.
4:23 I don't feel so good...:D At first I thought you were referencing Peter but then I checked the upload date :'D
love u bro, there were so many secrets that i did not see the first time ;3
They really packed it full, especially the North. Glad the video helped :)
"I'm feeling great the sun in shining nothing could go wrong" "Oh wait what is this" Story of my life.
Really cool video you got there. ;)
Thanks a bunch for it!
Thanks :) Hope it helps.
It does!
Especially with the time stamps. There aren't so many videos for secrets on HLD and many are 1h long let's play with no time stamps. :(
Kudos to you. ;)
I love how pleased you are with yourself at 32.29. :) Sadist!
;)
Just download this on the switch. What a great game. I completely missed the secret area with the staircase 😂
As someone that got this game yeats later, thank you so much for this guide.
The 8 door last encounter is the most infuriating in the game
It is pretty rough. All the more satisfying to beat it though :)
Good to hear. Atleast the other stages aren't as infuriating as that. Kind of sick of the game when you die a couple of times but a good rest and a peace of mind is enough for me to get back into the game.
Caw caw caw
that secret area is so cool thx for showing me it! :)
+Guy Lemon find that was one of my favorite moments in the game, glad you enjoyed it :)
+Tterraj42 do u think u could do a cape finding tutorial coz I would really like to know how to get new capes ;)
Thank you!
I'm going for platinum on PS4 and this really helped me out! :)
I also started a new character but after this video i ended up with 46 gear bits.
You marked one of them afterwards but i don't know where i got the other one from. :'D
They added 3 Gearbits as enemy drops after I made this video. So they're a little different. But if you follow the whole playlist, you should get them all. Tracking down Gearbits is the toughest part. Good luck :)
Tterraj42 Perfect, thanks a lot!
Good luck :)
it's pretty great how you cover the same jokes for all three of the cardinal directions, because you can watch them in any order and get the same jokes.
cause you never know if they'll follow the dog or the crow ;)
great job man! Loving this game :)
+Micah's Rotten Head thanks! I like the combat more every time I play it :)
man i loved the way you explain :D gratzz
Thanks :)
Wait, I just realised you have 999 subscribers. Not anymore! I am officially your 1000th subscriber, congrats!
Thanks! :D I guess I should uh, do a special or something... Hmm...
Hopefully you do :D
At 12:30 there was a hidden gear bite right next the entrance u missed
Good eye! That ended up being Gearbit 45. I really should make an updated walkthrough sometime...
Tterraj42 btw thx for those videos, made my runs of the game a lot less "running against every wall"
At around 52:30 you missed a gearbit to the left inside the railgun area. Other than that, good stuff! Thanks :)
+WinterAyars I'm not sure which you mean. The one on the ground that the enemy dropped?
Thank you so much!! You make it look so easy😭😭 and i hope youre doing well
your walkthrough is very helpful my friend..
appreciate the effort my man
