    Big compliment: A very good and sensitive performance, very good singing voice. I have been a Justin Hayward fan for 50 years, have almost all of his published productions and the Moody Blues on my shelf and therefore know almost every single tone of these songs 😉 Greetings from 🇩🇪

      Michael MOS Danke Michael, I grew up listening to The Moody Blues and I would just sit with the guitar and sing and play along with all their albums. I recently saw Justin Hayward in the Alte Oper in Frankfurt, and fell in love with his music again. This song really got to me with its thoughtful lyric and beautiful melody. As part of this Lockdown, I decided to upload some songs I love - not requests or lessons. Recently, there was a Facebook challenge going on, to post the album cover of your 10 favourite albums. I decided I would upload 10 of my favourite songs from my favourite artists instead. Übrigens, Ich wohne bei Gießen in Hessen, und wenn diese Corona lockdown zu ende ist, bin wieder live auf der Bühne zu sehen. Grüße aus Hessen !

      Agreed, nicely done. Exceeded all expectations. Saw the selection and thought "No one could do this justice". I was wrong. Great cover of one of Justin's finest compositions,

      Thank you so much. I grew up on the Moody Blues. My brother Callum and I were huge fans. When I saw Justin play this live a couple of years ago on his solo tour, he said he had written this for his brother who had died, and it was a song written about their childhood after he had passed. I recorded this for my brother, as I knew he would love it, and ironically he died shortly afterwards, during the lockdown. I know he did get to see me singing this for him in the hospice. So, I'm touched that a fan such as yourself appreciates me covering it. It is such a beautiful song.

      ps I have done a guitar lesson on the song Had to fall in love. Whether you're a guitarist or not, you might enjoy watching how it's played - and ergo, how it was written.

      @@johnmorrell My older brother also passed and was massive Moody fan.. Your reply s just came thru after all these months.....your voice had Justin's sound...I'm glad your brother got to hear you do this...it must have been such a powerful time for. All ....I am not religious, but God bless you for having the strength to play for him.

    Amazing and brilliant! 😯😍 (as always 😁)
    Could you tell me, please, if it is too difficult for you to both play guitar and sing? 'Cause as I heard it (playing and singing in the same time) requires lots of patience, concentration, skills and experience

    • @johnmorrell

      Start with something very simple. Learn to play ‘happy birthday’ - I’m serious - or some other song that isn’t complicated, children’s songs are great for this. Find a couple of songs that are similar. Don’t concern yourself too much with the type of song your singing, it’s about using it as a tool to teach yourself how to strum ( if you’re playing guitar ) and sing along in time. I started with very simple scottish folk songs - two or three chords and a simple melody. When you are confident and feel it’s working well, and you can do both parts - singing and strumming - pick a song you like that has 4 chords and an easy melody and work on that for a few weeks at your own pace. If you know someone who lives close by, someone who can play and sing, ask them for tips or some lessons. Please let me know how you are getting on, or if I can help you further. Pretty soon you’ll be doing this - ruclips.net/video/eb8cxPT3vIE/видео.html - guitar, piano and vocal all playing 3 different time signatures all at once !

      @@johnmorrell thank you very much for the advice and answer. I had been learning to play the guitar for approximately 3-4 months (more then a half of the year ago). Then gave it up (because of the begging of the studying) and stoped learning till now. Now I'm thinking about starting playing again, but doubt and fear at the same time. But your advice really helped and kinda motivated me. Now I'm convinced that I certainly have o start playing again as I dream of writing my own songs and covers of others'. But there's also one question (that doubts me): is it possible to learn to play the guitar (to begin to play "difficult" songs) by yourself?

    • @johnmorrell
      @johnmorrell  4 года назад

      Ozkan Of course. I am completely self taught. The longer you play and practice and grow as a guitarist - or anything else in your life that you do continuously- you will get better at it. Then the question you are asking will not be relevant, because you will only be interested in improving and refining what you already do. Start where you are. Just pick up the guitar and play for 5 minutes a day, but do it every day. Set yourself some goals, for example: ‘ for the next 4 weeks I will practice the chords to a simple song, then i will whistle or hum along and then sing, and practice one line at a time, until I can do it. The most important thing is to practice, even if it’s just a couple of minutes every day. The future will take care of itself. The better you get, complicated things become easier to to. So learning difficult songs won’t be as difficult as you now think it may be.
