The idea that the kids must move out and become independent is a fairly modern phenomenon. Just a century ago, it was normal for several generations of a family to live together and pool their resources. It was also expected that each person would pull their weight and contribute to the household. In rural areas, often when the kids married and moved to "a place of their own" this just meant a separate cabin on the family's property. Resources were limited and money was tight. Not anymore. Despite all the complaining, we here in the West at this moment are wealthier and more comfortable than any society in human history.
Well times changed. Back in the days life expectancy was much lower and there were many more reasons to live together. Nowadays majority of people can take care of themselves up to 70-80 years old easilly. Back in the days many families owned a farm or bussiness and kids had no choice but live with their parents and help them and then inherit the farm/business. Nowadays it isn't as popular and children can move out when they are adult and live their own lifes, fulfill their own dreams without feeling parents breath down the neck.
@@N4chtigall The rural area I grew up in, some people had a pretty solid solution for making sure they inherited at a reasonable age: the attic.
No, this isn't hearsay. I have heard old folk admitting doing it to their parents/in-laws.
When the old ones grew frail, they'd be shuffled off to the attic. The uninsulated attic. If they were lucky, they'd still be brought their food, if not, too bad.
I'm in my fifties as well, so this must have been about 100 years ago, I'd guess.
Nowadays, many kids just talk their parents into parceling out the property while the parents are still alive. A vineyard here, a field there, some cash as well. Until the old ones are milked dry, then left to dodder around in their crumbling old farmhouses.
Do all people do that? No. But if humans have one thing in common, it's their little corners of scum.
just a century ago, kids weren't intolerable psychopaths
Most of our problems are created for us by media telling us we need to be unhappy and consume.
@@N4chtigall by the way the life expectancy being lower is basically a meme. Humans used to live between 50 to 80 back in the day. It was some silly historian that added children to the calculations bringing the average down. Onces you pass age 2 and 10 unless a war started you might as well die of old age. Hell if you add child death to our current life expectancy it would be lower too.
I have a story, back when I used to be progressive in, ehh, 2016 or so. I was making 15 an hour doing low end machine shop work. The apartment I lived in was a sh**hole, but it was a 2 bedroom and I lived alone. However, the landlord kept raising rent, even though I was quiet, kept to myself, and gamed 100% of my time not at work. Well, I was hit up on FB after announcing that I might be looking for a roommate. Three trans people hit me up. They needed a place to stay and they promised to pay rent, so screw it. I said yes.
2 hours before they got here, they announced that they do s** work. They claimed it was only online with a webcam so, whatever. Cool. Just don't be noisy all the time and whatever. I was just glad to help some down on their luck people and I don't care about what someone identifies as or what their skin color is. Just don't be loud and don't be a butt.
So time came after a month to put them on the lease. Already had some incidents like one trying to take my gun to sudoku herself. I wish I was kidding. Fought for an hour hugging my SKS and eventually won out. Whatever. I just took the bolt with me to work during my 12 hour shifts.
Once they got on the lease, the s** work became alot less online. I'll spare you the details of what happened to my couch and say that these people revealed themselves to aspire to be str***ers. They turned tricks for mcdonald's ffs and they were not catches, though they were skinny at least. They also did AV, for low commissions. They blamed the fact I slaved away learning my future trade on my wh*** priv****** and, oh my god it was bad. Like, my SKS was loaded propped up against my desk when I was home, bad. So eventually we got evicted. Get this. The evidence used to evict us wasn't just them going by in random guys' cars or people going into my home to get their rocks off.
My car got a flat tire, and my boss had to pick me up and take me home from work for a couple weeks. I lived close enough to the shop. THAT was the evidence that got us kicked out.
I almost an hereoed there. I didn't. I got put in a few other sh**hole places, but I am proud to say that by 2020 I was in a much more stable living arrangement. Thank you for reading, and never trust a s** worker. I won't bend over backwards for someone down on their luck unless I know them. My heart lost alot of mass over those 8 months. I feel bad about being more selfish now but good god I will never let people like them walk into my life again.

I would've told them to fuck off the minute they mentioned sex work -- truth be told, I would've told them to fuck off the minute I saw they were trannies. I mean really, why is it that practically every tranny that I ever see is fucked up in some way? By fucked up, it's mostly mentally & or socially, as evidenced by how one of them tried to end the game of life early with your firearm (I'm almost sure that would've brought a lot of trouble with the law down on you if they somehow _did_ succeed.)
In any case, I really am sorry you had to deal with that shit bro and I am glad you're doing better.

My girlfriend's former landlord is an aging, gay man with deep connections in the LGBTQ and drag community of New Orleans. He's also, obviously, a landlord who has created a welcoming house to share with others; he expects you to pay your rent and utilities on time, take care of the place, and not get up to anything criminal or too disruptive, but other than that leaves you alone. I'm a landlord that rents out rooms. We do our best to offer a good price for an excellent room. For 750 a month we pay all utilities, internet, room comes fully furnished with bed, tv, fridge, microwave, and coffee machine. Bathroom is only shared with one other room and everyone has full use of the kitchen and common areas with street parking. Twice a month the common areas, including bathrooms are cleaned. If these people want to screech about paying rent they can figure out how hard it is to live that comfortably. I live in a rented house, I have nothing against good landlords. "Global Solidarity"
Good god, these people truly lack self awareness.
Y'know, the whole abolish Israel thing is just odd, literally in the Jewish religion under the Torah, the Old Testament in Christianity, and Islam under the Quran, if we're to believe that all of these books are of a similar story and content because of the nature of all three being Abrahamic religions, the book of Exodus, 40 years in the desert for the Jews under Moses to seek their promised land, and they arrived at Israel, their promised land by God Himself, and now people are just like "You know the very most ancient history of your people, the story of the migration from slaves in Egypt to the 12 Tribes of Israel returning to Israel and is a prominent and important religious story to your people and many others? Nah, not valid, out." Baffles me to no end.

The real reason that they get away with it isn't because of loopholes in civil rights laws, but because we usually avoid going to places where we aren't wanted because we know we'd just have and miserable and actually appreciate being told that right up front, so we don't often complain about discriminatory practices. I'm convinced these people either grew up in a religious household where their parents either loved them too much to say no or not enough to say yes. Either way they're clearly regressing mentally.
Another reason could be they grew up too pro establishment. Their parents, the media, and the school constantly validated their beliefs and they never had to hear criticism and if they did the other person was called all sorts of fancy buzzwords. So when they become adults they have been brainwashed so badly they can't function in a society that differs from their beliefs.
