Nice to see a detailed sampling of a Kora. Sounds wonderful. I wish Soniccouture had made the effort to include more performance-centered options besides the MIDI phrase player which now in 2024 looks really really basic. I am thinking along the line of Native Instrument's Session series. With a repository of authentic phrases, pre-recorded flourishes and performances that can be put together like building blocks while still allowing for complete free improvisations. The point is - hardly anyone who will buy this library has the skill and background to pull off authentic sounding performances. Yes, of course, it is still great to improvise freely here, but the approach we know from those NI 'Session' instruments is what I really would have wished for this instrument.
Maybe there will be a future 2.0 version that would include more of something like that? I'd love it.
Beautiful instrument. Played a gig with one some years ago, so rich in tonal qualities and huge sound when it’s right next to you.
Think I’m gonna have to grab this myself.
Please, could you release your microtuning thing as a seperate plugin so we can use it on other instruments as well? It would be so very great to have for instance a guitar playing with the kora in the same Malinese tuning...
Thanks for the Kora. I was hoping someone would sample it really good for a long time already. I'm glad it's you who did that.
It might be possible to make a Kontakt multi script that would apply the same tuning to all instruments loaded in a Kontakt multi. Follow up with us over email and we'll discuss with Dan.
The kora is classified as a bridge harp nowadays. The lute-harp/harp-lute classification of Hornborstel is outdated.
Exactly what I said in the video!
