    Ahoy everyone!
    My name is Nike and I have been living and sailing on my sailboat Karl since 2013. After a massive refit marathon, I finally cast off the lines and learnt to solo sail my 37-foot Reinke Super 10 that I called "Karl". I am publishing videos (at the moment every two weeks) about the ups and downs of living, repairing and sailing my boat.
    Since January 2022, I have a new permanent crew member: my furry friend Boga. When I started out, I did not know much about boat repair or solo sailing. Since I am still out there, I hope that my story inspires others, to chase their dreams, even if they might think they are not cut out for it. There is always a way, so I'll see you out there!

    It has been wonderful sharing in your adventures these last half dozen or so years. In my old age I've seen so much of the world on YT and G Earth and your channel has been my favorite sailing channel of many I've followed here and there. It's amazing to me the many different perspectives of the world I've been able to enjoy thanks to efforts of special people like yourself, compared to my Nat Geo Mag collection of the last century... Bless you, young lady.

    Great to see you sailing! Seems like all the sailing channels gave up and decided to do "Build a Boat" channel which has become very boring because fiberglass is fiberglass and welding is welding no matter who does it.

    The good old Anchor Alarm.
    It's the only reason I could sleep, when several of my friends laid awake some nights worried that they were dragging.
    I think they all downloaded the free version after several nasty wind storms, and are enjoying more good nights sleeps.

    Now that's a nice little village. I spend the winter in Oaxaca, so I think a littler visit is in order to Puerto Angel. Feeling calm is good. No need to question yourself there. Perhaps you unburdened your German mind last episode, removed the questions by sharing them with us? It's so good to see you in a good place. Sail on solo sailor, (I was a solo sailor too you know, :) )perhaps there's crew in your future.

    Always interesting listening to you and your ideas on making your journeys better . As far as the oil leak on the transmission you have two choices . You can live with it the way it is or a solution . When running the boat under power the rubber in the seal will eventually wear a grove on the shaft it is sealing . There is a product caller saver or speedy sleeve which is a kit with a sleeve which is installed over the shaft where the seal rides . This puts a new seal surface for the seal to run on with out leaking . And I'm sure you know the drill as far as replacing the seal . This may help . Good sailing to you .

    • @sailorstu
      @sailorstu 20 дней назад +1

      I was thinking the same thing about the seal.
      As I am certain you know, any groove worn in, pitting, or burr on the shaft can destroy a new seal almost immediately.
      I have also seen new old stock seals cracked in the packaging.

      I too was going to say the same thing, but also mention that they are stainless steel and if a person spends a little extra money and gets one in 316 stainless steel it will never rust. I always smear a bit of loctite bearing mount on he inside as a sealant.

    Chuffed spent a ton of time there, so their may be fewer running dogs ? In the area she is in now, in the Sea of Cortez, way up near San Felipe, a lady was killed by running dogs. I'm not sure exactly where they are , I should have been paying better attention. But the situation with the dogs happened in the Northern area. I have a friend name Antonio, , Tony, who lives in San Felipe and told all of us ham radio guys about it. That said, he had dinner with the Sea Sheppard crew and loves seeing young people and helping them. I gave his number to one couple and told him about that , and he said that was great.

    "Connecting with the locals" is my favorite part of travelling! As for the pole game, risk vs reward. I'm sure they've run into the falling issue before. I've noticed that you no longer wear the wooden ring that you had many episodes ago. Did it break or get lost?

    • @WhiteSpotPirates
      @WhiteSpotPirates  20 дней назад +1

      It broke 😔 my mom had a “spare” one that she gave to me which was such a sweet and lovely surprise (I had bought those about 15 years ago in Ecuador and had given her one and she still had it) but I broke that one, too 😢😢😢

      @@WhiteSpotPirates that's sad to hear. I had a turtle necklace I bought in Belize several years ago and it broke a couple weeks ago. Now I need to go to Belize again to get another.

    Strangely calm? Boat prepped, engine checked, food cooked, Boga walked, spare diesel. The recipe for calm is doing all that prep you have done, that just leaves your German mind to worry about all the things that could possibly happen "out there".....

    You're looked
    a little happier in this video. Maybe you're coming out of your slump. When I first started watching you Back when you first got the boat. I thought you were going to start sailing places. When you got the boat fixed. It seems you never left that general area of the world with your cell boat. And I am somewhat disappointed in the adventures that you've had. There are so many places in the Pacific.
    That would Stimulate your mind, And make great content. Going around the southern cross would be beautiful! Or even sailling japan Would put you in more of an intellectual Light. And Awesome content. I struggle to find selling channels. That are doing japan. I think it's beautiful over there. Hell, you can even sell back to Germany, Be closer to home! I just think you're suffering where you're at. And think you have so much more in you. Please do not think that I am criticizing you, I just think that you are a very awesome and wonderful person. And I would love to see your shine Very brightly again.

    the three most useless things in aviation: runway behind you, gas in the truck, and pee in your bladder. You might find some of this applies to boats. If you don't used the diesel on this trip you'll have it for the next.
