When I get my first Birkin 40 I'm going to get it preloved. To me this is a workhorse bag to use and enjoy and not care if it gets scratched or loses some of its form.
I remember the first Birkin I ever saw in person was down the street from Louis Vuitton and it was a black 25 and I was in awe. 😍 I will always treasure the amazing crag I ship and the work that goes into the bag
Maybe you could have the insert made with a zip? Personally, I would not buy a bag, including a Birkin, unless it had the facility for a shoulder strap. I really like Birkins, but I don't have the energy to carry a bag around by hand! Thank you for the video!
My first birkin is in the size of 40. And I love it so much, it looks good on me. Sometimes, I find myself a little bit difficult to use B40 as daily work bag cause its size, but B35 is too small for me :(
Very informative video! You confirmed my thoughts on Epsom leather…I have never been a fan, and have always preferred the relaxed look! Hunting for a preloved Retourne in a fun blue…Bleu Frida, or Electrique Blue in. 30 with Palladium hardware…the hunt continues!!! Thank you for sharing your thoughts!
Interesting and thorough. Thank you. By the way, I always carry my bag (whoever has made it) with the front against me. It just feels safer somehow, and access is easier.
Thank you so much for your honest and clear reviews, very helpful. I have decided neither Birkin nor Kelly is for me. It’s really tiring to hand held a heavy bag all day using a Birkin. The style of Kelly is very basic, there are a lot of beautiful, well made, structure bags that are better than Kelly in all sizes. Both B and K are not practical to use. I saw people carrying their Kelly open, looks like things are falling out of their bags any minute. Not flattering. The only reason to buy is, in my opinion, to be seen owning one. I actually bought those under radar Hermes for the craftsmanship, leather and usability. They are excellent bags for a very good price. Also, I prefer day to night bag, especially when travelling. Hermes is limited only okay for smaller sizes but too small for day use. Plus security is a big problem for me. I really would not feel comfortable at all walking around in London or cities that are busy areas. I feel like I have to get taxi,, not able to use the tube which can be faster than stuck in traffic. It’s just so impractical to use. Also. I think Hermes owners must love the brand, they need to love their shoes, scarf as well. Unfortunately, I tried to find something I like, I never did. I say that because a lot of Hermes utubers saying they HAVE to buy lots of stuff to get offer a bag. I actually just want to focus on their other stuff but not finding much of anything special I like. Watching their fashion shows saying a lot of Hermes styles. It gets to a point people are obsessed with the BKC, they forgot it is actually a brand with a very understated styling . For me, there are plenty of understated brands that are very nice if I like that sort of style. I guess I am lucky Hermes is not for me. I rather spend less on similar understated bags. 😊
OMG GPS, bursted out laughing when I started watching your video yesterday: literally picked up a B25 sellier etoupe with PHW I was offered less than an hour before 🤣 It is honeymoon land for now. Keeping my fingers crossed 🤞🏾 I guess the sellier style helps.
Love the B but I’m a kelly girl cuz of the strap. I still feel awkward n self conscious carrying a B. It’s such a recognizable bag. 😅 thanks for sharing my love. 🙏🏼❤️🍊😘😘😘Sandy
Only one thought crossed my mind as i listen to you - stressful. If i were to spend this much money on anything, AND suffer stress fr using it, i should think again.
Love the video, I was hoping you were going to say which size was the original birkin. I have seen so many people commenting on the internet, some say it’s the 40 some say is the 35. So confusing.
I notice you still have protective film on hardware. How long have you left yours on? I want to protect hardware but hear it can damage long term? Would love ur opinion.
I personally feel extremely nervous whenever I carry either my Kelly or my Birkin in Paris. Those bags do attract so much unwanted attention that they have almost become embarrassing for me to carry around town. I have the feeling that one can exclusively carry those bags when browsing in luxury boutiques or in 5 star hotels nowadays. 2 years ago, I almost got "slaughtered" by a bunch of gypsy kids when they saw my Kelly gold. That's why I'd rather go for Hermès non quota bags now: equally beautiful but so understated that people do barely notice them. Oh, if you really want to make those bags less noticeable in most of Parisian areas, I do have an even more efficient tip than the one provided in the video: I just hide them in those huge cheap grocery bags they offer at Chinatown!!! Since I started doing that, I have become more at peace and safe, I have therefore been able to enjoy those bags more often as no one can notice them anymore (« selfish pleasure » aka Hermès quintessential philosophical concept) and on top of that, it does create a very nice (edgy avant-garde?) contrast with the rest of my outfit!!!
@@IamGPS ah, interesting 🤔 I thought togo leather in black looks a little pale/dull and was thinking to go for clemance instead. But your Birkin looks lovely and intensely coloured. So maybe it is because of the GOLD hardware (because black togo with palladium hardware definitely looked a bit dull in my eyes) Anyway, thank you for your reply 💜
Personally I’ve owned Hermes items and a Kelly wallet. I’m not impressed with the quality. At the price point you should be amazed by the quality. I feel like other bags out there that are a fraction of the price are way better quality wise. I do understand people like to feel a certain way and treat themselves but it’s almost like a “status statement” so it’s not for me because I could care less what others think about what I’m carrying or using as a bag.
Sorry if I am offending you or any subscribers; but I could not buy/carry a Birkin because some of the most vulgar women on television do, and I mean 'Real Housewives'. I feel I would be guilty through association. Give me a Constance anyday!
Thank you for your great review. I definitely keep that in mind. I am planning (or dreaming) of getting a BK 35 and mentally prepared that it will be a heavy bag. What do you think about people who draw on their Bk? I have a close friend who used one artist to paint (ugly) pictures on her beautiful bag. I guess this could be one of the things not to do to your BK. I think this would devalue the bag.😂
@@IamGPS trust me the bag doesn’t even look like a BK. 😂 It is like painting a Rolls Royce with butterflies. The bag was a beautiful Hermès gold color and now it has painted stuff on it.

It's a true piece of art 🙌
Great suggestion carrying it the other way round and add charm !
I did it by accident one time and couldn't believe how different the same bag looked 🖤
This is very informative and an honest take on the downside of the birkin bag!
I tried 🖤

you could get a mini kelly. It's the perfect size and soo cute 🥰
I thought about adding a zip pocket to the Insert too 🤔 I'm the same way, I wouldn't even consider a bag I can't put crossbody these days 🙌

Bleu Frida in Evercolor leather is gorgeous if you can find one.
Keeping my fingers crossed that you find the perfect one 🤞Have you checked out SacLab?
Lots of great insights here. My one and only is truly a bag I have not grown tired of 18+ years and counting...
Aww what a love affair 😍

I do the same, feels nicer. Less attention.
Thanks for sharing

Lovely 😍

I don't know this for a fact but based on pictures I've seen, I'd think it was 35 🤔
thank you info you are handsome as always

I would also love to get a insert for my bag. I find inserts keep retain the shapes
It's a must when it comes to a Birkin imo 🙌
Very informative video as usual 👌🏻
Maybe I have missed this info: what is the leather on your black Birkin? Is it togo?
Yes, it's Back Togo 🖤

In theory I like the idea of having a piece customised by an artist, but I haven't come across any that I actually liked the look of 😅

You make the same “shocked mouth open” look in every thumbnail. I think you should mix it up a little. Speaking from a subscriber perspective.
Thank you for the feedback 🖤
