TLDR! Bottom Line: If you use the bag a lot , it WILL eventually need repairs. My peau d'elephant Kelly has been repaired twice. It was purchased new, in Paris, not too long before elephant skin was declared illegal. It went in once for restitching of the interior pocket and replacement of the touret. The second repair was to replace the entire handle, and again to replace the touret. Due to the change in US Fish and Wildlife regulations, Hermès craftsmen had strict instructions not to touch elephant skin bags. The first time it needed repair I wrote to the then CEO of Hermès USA. I literally begged him to allow M. Claude to repair my bag. The CEO was very nice, and permitted M. Claude to do the work. It was years later when I brought the bag into the NY boutique for the second time. M. Claude laughed and said "OH NO! Not THAT bag AGAIN!" Even though he had to use Taurillon Clemence, he did a beautiful job replacing the handle. So, that makes only two trips to Hermès repair in 43 years! I often wonder if M. Claude went back to France, and how he is doing since his retirement. He was the quintessential Frenchman, and absolutely unforgettable 😊
@@IamGPSThat would never happen today. Hermès was a much smaller company back then, and still privately held. When you wrote to the CEO, he paid attention! I wish I could remember his name. He was an American. Chris, something, I think. I also took a 35 Birkin in once, but for the life of me I can't remember why. I think it was just for a general tune up. As for your bag, PERFECTION. I wish I was so careful with mine. I feel guilty, so I did just order a liner.
Bag looks new! I’ve been thinking about getting a bigger Kelly like this same style so happy I stumbled upon this video in your collection watching quite a few today. Love you.❤❤❤❤❤
Actually, the New York Times wrote a very interesting article about just that. The title of the article might trigger some pristine bag lovers here so I won't repeat it. Let's just say that many Hermès bag owners find that slouch essential.
Thank you as always. Regarding the strap: when one orders a Special Order Kelly one can order exactly the right length for the strap - it fits me perfectly!
I bought a 2003 Kelly 32 from Luxury Promise that was refurbished at the Hermes spa. I’ve been using it for over a year non-stop and it still looks brand new. I do have a twilly on the handle because I’m a horse girl from Arizona so I always have sunscreen on my hands. I love your 35 as well.
@@comfynlux5695 They were fantastic. They paid the duties and taxes because I bought it on the live show. I’ve bought three other Hermes bags from them since and it’s been smooth and easy every single time. The prices are crazy but the way I justify it is I don’t have to buy things I don’t want at Hermes to get a bag offered to me. When shopping at Luxury Promise I get exactly what I want. I’ll keep buying from them.
Your Kelly looks like new bc you take good care of it. I had used your 7RP discount code in the past for one of my Kellys. Loved it, so got another insert when I was offered my 2nd Kelly. Always appreciate these codes since these inserts cost an arm & a leg.
Love the 7RP it’s the best this has convinced me! And love the size of the bag ! Just like the owner of 7 RP she has several large Kelly’s .♥️♥️♥️🔥 I’ve been thinking about getting 32 cm or 35cm this has convinced me I need one ! ❤❤❤❤
Hi, greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷 I have had Moynat, Goyard, Delvaux, Hermes… I think we need to choose the exactly materials to endure the real use of the bag, and I use my bags daily, so this choices means a lot. I love Vuitton bags also ( not canvas, neither monogram, but the leather ones ) and all of them have stand the test of time beautifully. Remember guys, choose the right materials and finishes!
Yes, it's true, I tried to carrying the Kelly with the front facing my body, just to stay low key in certain situation. The turn lock hits my body, not comfortable at all. Unlike Birkin, I can easily carry it facing inwards.
I was on the train at the World Trade Center carrying my Sellier BBK28 and someone actually came up and touched it and said “wow I’ve never seen one up close before” I was so shocked that someone would do that so yes, they’ve become a lot more recognizable.
Hi G, Thanks for this video on your flawlessly maintained Kelly. I really cannot see any wear or tear on your bag. I am also big fan of the 7RP inserts and believe that my bags and shoes wouldn't wear as well without inserts for all my leather goods.🧡
I would guess a year tops? Only because you pointed out a little softening since. I LOVE my 7RP insert. It’s like it gave my 2010 Kelly Togo 35 Botox!😆 Plus, the structure boost gives me more ease and control when closing the bag while carrying it because the Togo’s not flopping around.👍
Thanks a lot for this video and for all your videos! I love your advice and recommendations that are always interesting and precise. I also love your taste and your style❤ I just got my first quota bag last week 🎉. It is a Birkin 35 Craie retourné ❤ i got a Forbi silk 25 insert. My very nice SA told me that the Forbi is not dedicated to keep the shape of the Birkin and is not to be kept inside the Birkin all the time. Do you share the same point of view? Do you keep you 7RP insert in all you bags even during resting time to help them keep the shape ? Thanks again for sharing your experience !
So would you suggest for wear and tear and the longevity and lifetime of something stick with just Birkin? I really had it in my head. I would like to have a Kelly, 25 or 28 but to me I want something that I can have forever just a little maintenance.
It depends on which shape you prefer. I wouldn't say that Kelly bags are any less hardwearing, but they certainly don't carry as much as a Birkin would 🤍
great video + good points! my favorite H bag is the Evelyne - until I actually tried it on in a color I loved I thought it was worst bag. lol! I love Kelly's with the Evelyne canvas straps! I don't think my bag will mind, too funny! bag looks great, all my H bags look fantastic but I love that slouchy look and don't have anything in epsom as to me it feels like cardboard, ha! cheers!
Thank you for this bag update, it’s aging beautifully. But i was wondering does the 7rp insert cause the leather to stretch out below the sangle holes on the front of the bag?

Your kelly is absolutely gorgeous! It looks maybe 2-3 years old. It looks so lovely and just perfect!
Your bag looks pristine G and even brand new. I am in love with the Kelly 28 and it’s definitely on my wish list. Love your in depth review!
i wouldnt imagine 6 years of the kelly it looks pristine ! perfect bag
Agree 🤍

I’m so impressed you avoided the Togo slouching. A few of my bags suffered from that fate but thanks to 7RP I can avoid it going forward.
I love my Togo Retourne 35 Birkin slouch, but I know that it's not everyone's cup of tea. A liner does give it a different look.

Yes, I like that feature of the Kelly, plus it's possible to wear a strap. The Birkin is so recognisable now it's become a security risk.
What a beautiful bag!! It looks brand new❤

Nice leather! Is it togo or chevre?
Thank you for this bag update, it’s aging beautifully. But i was wondering does the 7rp insert cause the leather to stretch out below the sangle holes on the front of the bag?
Not in my experience. However, if one overstuffs their Kelly, the corners of the front pockets can indeed leave a slight imprint behind 🤍
What method of fastening of handles is more sturdy birkin maybe kelly
I'd guess a Birkin is able to bear more due to placement of the handles 🤍
@@IamGPS i appreciate you
Thanks for the review on ur beautiful bag my love. I love my vintage box k32. 🖤🍊😘😘😘Sandy
Just got the exact same one in Paris feeling so lucky 😌
Congratulations 🥳 Consider investing in a good insert 🩵
@@IamGPS I surely will

I'd like to think so too 🤍
Bottom line bags need to be worn and enjoyed. Life is short and if your bags are enjoyed then the wear is worth it.

Aww thank you 🤍
if I have money I get one but only reason for me not get one you look so stylish with bag
Aww thank you 🤍
Kelly's flaps dont fit for heavy weight unlike Birkin. Am I right
Absolutely 🙌
If I don’t like the video or subscribe will I not get the tea??
looks so goooood, year old
I don't like inserts. I like feeling the leather lining inside the bag when I use it.
