What’s worse is I can’t believe they cut out the whole scene from the movie where Tom and Jerry destroy their house and Tom gets disowned by his owners before Tom and Jerry meet again in NY. That would’ve been perfect setup and would’ve taken more time for the story to add up and for us to connect with the characters.

That is because the animation does look different as the 2D illusion is lost and the film feels like a modified GTA where Tom and Jerry in Tom and Jerry: War of the Whiskers gets modified for GTA.
it’s been revealed back in August of this year that the writers of Sonic The Hedgehog movie were called by WB to write Tom and Jerry (2021).
But WB executives get rid of Pat Casey because they don’t want the cat and mouse to be the main focus.
So this could have been a somewhat decent movie but failed

Literally, me and my friends watched the trailer, some of the frames of the CGI looked like exactly like the spongebob in Tehran fucking animation even in the fucking movie itself.
It's sad that a movie from the 1980's looks and entertains 100 times better than something in 2021. All because people up top want to make a money off of nostalgia rather than... you know... make a good movie. 😐

I don't like how Tom's usually portrayed as the bad guy. He's just being a cat. If anything Jerry is the bad guy. Here's more proof:
So Jerry is a mouse, and he doesn't want to get eaten by a cat. Fair enough. But if that's the case, why not just leave? In every episode of Tom and Jerry, why does Jerry always just happen to have his mouse hole in the home of Tom's owners? Was there really no house Jerry could find that didn't have a cat living in it? It seems an awful lot like Jerry is just looking for trouble.
Sure, Jerry is kind of sympathetic since no one should have to worry about being someone else's dinner, but Jerry downright tortures Tom. He leads Tom through an obstacle course of dangerous objects like something out of Home Alone, hurting and maiming the cat with a variety of weapons that result in Tom's shrieks of agony. Seriously, go back and watch an old episode of the show and try not to wince as you picture the amount of pain you'd have to be in to wind up screaming like Tom does. And Jerry doesn't even care. Not only does he usually laugh at Tom's pain, but sometimes he even takes it to the point of straight up killing Tom. Why are we supposed to be rooting for this mouse again? Tom's just trying not to starve to death and/or protect his own territory while Jerry is delighting in someone else's anguish.
This always got me too. I get Jerry is cute, but 9 times out of 10, he starts it.

I could see potential in a Tom and Jerry movie where the cat and mouse duo are forced to fight several supervillains in an action-slapstick comedy or as RebelTaxi suggested a film that’s described as Tom and Jerry meets John Wick where Jerry has to fight every cat in the city.

From the trailer, I got vibes of the Rocky and Bullwinkle live action movie. A cartoon duo who hadn't had anything new made for decades suddenly shoved on the bigscreen with a bunch of celebs shoehorned into the cast. and a plot about a underdog girl trying to get recognition in the world.
(Have you considered coverering the Rocky and Bullwinkle movie yet? It really was the ground zero of these live action CG reboots.)

@@LilKardboard Well that movie was more of a series finale that gave most of the characters closure. Also, unlike Tom & Jerry, the Eds are able to speak, so their personalities could at least carry the story for an extended period of time.

I still don't like that Willy's Wonderland was basically a weird demon version of Fnaf but other then, that I thought it was really good, never would have thought that it had a lower budget.

A Bunch of Actors You Couldn't Care Less About (Also Appearing: Tom & Jerry)
What if we had a Tom and Jerry movie that's a comedy of errors. Basically their shenanigans get them kicked out of their home and they end up on this cross country road trip trying to find a place to stay. They keep trying to split up but end up meeting up with each other wherever they go and causing cartoonish destruction. If you need human characters you can have them run into interesting (and actually funny) people along the way. Maybe our main human protagonist is some kind of animal control officer in pursuit of this cat and mouse that seem to destroy every place they come across. I know it's nothing special but it keeps the movie focused on what it should be focused on, the slapstick battle between Tom and Jerry.
Some youtuber called blu can do A WAY better movie plot than a team of high budget Warner bro company, thanks Blu we'll appreciate your script its way better ( ^-^)ノ∠※。.:*:・'°☆
Maybe the movie can be a split between Tom's side of the story and then Jerry's. Showing who they meet along the way in their journey until they meet each other again. And maybe they can show some scenes where they're in the same place without them knowing. Yeah it isn't the best idea but at least it keeps the old Tom and Jerry charm

I would pay to see that. Like you said, it stays true to the original intentions of Tom and Jerry (wacky slapstick) while maintaining a basic plot which is something films need. Honestly, I weep for modern Hollywood if they are being outsmarted by people on the internet.
This kinda happens in Fast and the Furry, except the road trip is just one long, crazy race.
This movie looks like everyone just got a paycheck and that’s it. There wasn’t a lick of passion in this, they got paid to make a movie and that’s it.

I haven't watched the movie, but I've gotten endless ads for it. They all focus entirely on the slapstick Tom and Jerry bits, and don't tell anything about the plot. That alone put a bad taste in my mouth, and this review completely justifies that feeling.
Don't want to watch it. I seen it and as much I wanted to stay positive it's a 10/2 movie.

Only smart people realize that Jerry was the true villain in the original 1940s cartoons. There were many episodes where Jerry starts the fights ( also we need to remember that Jerry breaks into Tom's house and steals food and Tom is only doing his job as a cat of getting rid off Jerry because his owners tell him to). A true mouse role model we can look for is Jerry's Mexican cousin Speedy Gonzales, who opens his own pizzeria in the Looney Tunes Show!

You missed two important parts:
1. LS Mark specifically said Jerry doesn't have to antagonize Tom.
2. Tom has to go after Jerry for a reason (i.e. His owners threaten him, Jerry's stealing food, etc.). Here, Jerry just antagonizes Tom for his own amusement.
As soon as they showed the glass ceiling, I literally shouted “WELL THATS GOING TO BE DESTROYED”
I agree with you on a Tom and Jerry movie not being possible... their whole thing is just slap stick after slap stick after slap stick- which works for episode-length media, not feature-length movie media... which is why the girl takes up so much time. They were worried people would get bored with 90+ minutes of slapstick comedy, and they were probably right.
The girl took way to much. That's the issue imo. Also when the cartoons interact with real life stuff it looks either terrible or just has a off feeling.

Product placement possibly. Things from the modern world would look out of place in a fanatsy universe or period piece. So they take the characters from their original universe.

The animation for Tom and Jerry and the other cartoon animals doesn't remind me of the Chipmunks or Smurfs, it reminds me more of Space Jam and Roger Rabbit, and I like that.

This film gave me 2000s nostalgia but with all the wrong reasons. The '90s film is the definitive Tom and Jerry theatrical movie even with its flaws. "We got to have... M O N E Y."
I feel like I have a hidden talent for recognizing if a movie will be bad after I seeing the trailer 1 time.

Apparently there's a cut beginning where it showed that Tom and Jerry's destruction got them kicked out of a house which explains the part where Tom and Jerry are looking for a home.
It was cut out because the producer thought that T&J's dynamic was already well known and they were already gonna destroy the hotel anyways
The main character is the hotel boss he has more comedy and character development than the girl i forgot her name.
How to make a live action cartoon movie in modern day:
Step 1: Have it be set in NYC. All live action cartoon movies MUST take place in NYC.
Step 2: Hire a bunch of random celebrities for the sake of having random celebrities.
Step 3: Make the movie mostly about the humans are barely about the main cartoon character that the movie is named after.
Step 4: Shoehorn in popular memes and jokes into the movie because that’ll keep the kids entertained.
Step 5: Never follow any of the source material unless absolutely necessary, and those moments that you should follow the source material, it’s for nostalgia pandering.

Hollywood doesn't seem to believe that 2D animation could be profitable, as in the early 2000's, 2D films were never as successful as 3D films, telling Hollywood that 2D was out, since no one is making Hollywood 2D films, that idea was never proven wrong for them, even though there definitely is a ton of demand for it, because they probably consider it too much of a risk.

Everyone is saying the movie is great but I really just didn’t like it. They literally had like one or two likable characters. I didn’t really think it would be good and I was right.
When those two likable characters are Tom and Jerry.

The problem with this movie is it knows it's intended audience and basically doesn't try to be anything more than that. Tom and Jerry you're absolutely timeless classic characters and can be incredibly funny no matter what they do. The problem is movies like this tend to age like milk in a hot car.
References become dated immediately I mean someone that watches this 5 years from now will probably be facepalming at just how horrible it is.

The bad sign is that there’s a lot of people acting awkward most of the time
Right and they're good actors too so you know it's on purpose. I think it had to do with the expected kid audience. Everything is said in such a weird way and people dont act like they would in real life. I had to skip over some scenes becuase it was so overbearing.

One day one movie might be able to pass roger rabbit but will never be able to pass roger rabbit if you know what I’m saying they caught lightning in a bottle and everyone and their mom tries but fails to get a piece of the pie
I dont think every live action that mixes in cartoons is trying emulate roger rabbit. I hate when people say stuff like that as if everything ever created is just trying to copy something already made.
Ender Love good point but I sorta think it’s a way to compare other movies like take the best out of that category and compare the two but what my comment was trying to say was after roger rabbit was a huge hit it opened the door for more of these movies to be made you know what I’m saying so in a way everybody isn’t trying to copy roger rabbit their trying to copy the success

I haven't seen a movie that has even the slightest effort and talent as roger rabbit, but I just hate it when people compare every live action/cartoon mix with roger rabbit and say that's why it failed: it was trying too hard to be something it's not, when in reality, if they spent more time and energy on it, they could make a better film.

I feel like these kinds of movies could be great on their own. They don’t need to bring iconic characters back from the dead. But they have to get that marketable name credit, I guess.
And i who thought this movie was gonna save Cinema and bring us into a new golden age of culture. Im so disappointed.

Tom And Jerry designs look...off. They look the same but the way they move is... Weird.
Everyone is afraid to make a new Tom and Jerry product that lives up to the original shorts. If they did, there would likely be backlash for it being too violent and mean spirited for a film meant for little kids, even though Tom and Jerry was never made necessarily for kids and only got that stigma when the rise of saturday morning cartoons forced tv animation to sterilize itself to not offend anyone.
Umm the original movie was more violent then the shorts and new shorts that were just as violent as the original were Made this year as well as multiple other series that were as well
@@DJays4 but were they really? Did you believe they got hurt the way those original shorts made you believe? Sure, the slapstick was always there, but the impact has been sanded away over time.

@@DJays4 that's true. You can only get that level of impact if every frame is hand crafted, which just doesn't happen anymore in mainstream animation. Some get close, but the timing is always slightly off and the in-between frames are a little too floaty.
I mean, cartoons were originally made for adults. That’s literally why Betty Boop was dressed the way she was, and Popeye was more of a fighter and kinda punched anyone who got in his way. They literally made Popeye dumber and more of a clueless klutz and made Poopdeck Pappy with Popeye’s original personality to make Popeye more appropriate for kids, because the original character was “too violent”
