  • The baroque town of Bad Karlshafen, built by Landgrave Carl in 1699, is a real gem in the Reinhardswald Nature Park. Together with Helmarshausen, which is more than 1075 years old, and the settlement by the Huguenots, it makes it possible to experience European cultural and religious history from the Middle Ages to the Baroque.
The fine combination of baroque atmosphere and the amenities of a modern holiday and health resort represent a unique mixture. The "new heart" of the planned city, the baroque harbor with lock, right in the center of the old town, is particularly popular. In the spring of 2019, the historic harbor was reopened for shipping and can be navigated from the Weser via a new lock with small yachts and sports boats.
The Weser promenade leads from the harbor to other highlights of Bad Karlshafen. The graduation tower and the Weser thermal baths are right on the river bank. If you want to do something for your health and well-being, this is the place for you. The brine makes you almost feel like you are at the sea. Take a deep breath, relax in the water and enjoy the warmth of the saunas. Massages and other treatments can be booked.
Bad Karlshafen in the very north of the nature park has a lot to offer. Culture lovers, nature enthusiasts and water sports enthusiasts feel equally at home here. Welcome!
Please note that in Bad Karlshafen and Helmarshausen visitor's tax is charged. It is to be paid in addition to the room rate.
