I think you are wrong about the mix. I have the tab and both Tim and Scott are playing mirrored parts, one higher on the fretboard and one lower. I think that is the difference you are hearing in the mix at the beginning.
@CONLEYMUSIC yeah that could be, I'm no engineer. I just play and have all their tabs and this is a common thing they do where Tim and Scott play nearly identical parts in different locations on the neck.
