John Coltrane will never know what monster he unleashed upon this planet. Seriously though, who ever thought John Coltrane would ever be important to the music meme community?
@@icanseeyou9820 It was a comment about the aesthetic being wonky, the chords being dirty, and the overall aesthetic being strange. Obviously I don't toast moldy bread lol
It has the Yamaha FM slap bass, so that’s why it’s sounds like a sega genesis or AdLib/Sound Blaster as they used Yamaha FM synthesisers as well, a lot of mid to late-80s composers used Roland and Yamaha synthesisers that went on the go into consumer grade hardware as they became more affordable in the early 90s
Alternative Title: Take Giant Steps Making a Giant Steps remix of it and it still sounding good proves that it is genuinely an undeniably good song. You can't ruin it by bending the key, it will laugh in your face with slap'ness. Idk why but it kinda sounds like Rick Astley in parts
Not only is this wonderfully horrible, but I feel it gives a better appreciation (for people who aren't jazz improv musicians) at just how unusual what he was doing, was.
Why youtube algorithm why? I mean I get it, this is gold. But also so cursed. When youtube algorithm drowns me in songs autotuned to fucking Giant Step lol.
Did you use Zynaptiq Pitchmap for this? I've mutated stuff like this before, by using chords via midi to control audio. In my case I use to make a sample fit, or to take an untuned source like whale song and make it conform to a chord progression I'd made. Never occured to me to do this. Seems like you've given me something to do in Ableton for the next three hours :)

I was going to call this video "just ok," but then I heard the beginning of the solo at the end, and that made the video for me.
That chorus is actually kinda sick
