- In the heart of Norfolk's countryside lies a stunning little pool called Roacklandmere Fishery. This hidden gem is covered with thick aquatic vegetation, a haven for the shy crucian and tench. Although the crucians avoided capture on the day, Daniel Woolcott thoroughly enjoyed his time here leaving the big pits behind for the day and going back to basics catching some pristine Tench on the float.

You are a man after my own heart to choose such Tackle, real fishing at arms-length, with no elastic or bite-alarms involved. I still have my original copy of Fishing With Mr Crabtree In All Waters, it's a bit battered and dog-eared, but then, so am I!🤣
Fished there on Monday with a pal. Absolutely beautiful place. Some lovely Rudd and Roach in there as well. Caught Crucians but only on Breadflake.

Lovely little video. It reminds me of when I'm fishing for Crucians and catch Tench as well. There's not many situations where you can be at least slightly disappointed with a Tench, except when every fish you hook you say... that's a big Crucian! That is until you feel the comparative power of Tench compared to Crucians. You're much better at keeping them out of the lilies than me too!

We had them to just under a pound. There's also some decent Perch in there as well. The owner said that he's going to thin them out a bit so the bigger ones should grow on to a really decent size

Beautiful fishing, so many waters are just filled with carp. The angling society I belong to have some lovely little secluded ponds. Do they put in tench and crucians, oh no they put in carp. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy carp fishing from time to time but there is so much more to fishing. The obsession with carp makes me very sad.🙁

reminds me of a couple of ponds ear where i live on the south sheffield/derbyshire border 🙂,full of lilly’s and lots of carp and tench,great sport,i used to use a 13ft Diawa match rod and a 2 BB wagler float and fish tight to the pads in high summer,very simple 3/4lb line straight through to a 16 hook with corn and luncheon meat🙂,happy days !!

Why have you used the waggler fixed at the top as well please? Why not use a pole float instead or the waggler bottom end only? Curious to know the reason. Thanks.

Okuma Sheffield with a line guard I’d say.
At what depth do you stop with float and move to feeder ?
Depends on length of your rod. Slider float is always an option.

3 pound line in that type of swim is irresponsible how many were lost in the lily pads
