I could live a little better with the myths and the lies, When the darkness broke in, I just broke down and cried. I could live a little in a wider line, When the change is gone, when the urge is gone, To lose control. (When here we come.)
Alderley Edge. I took the bus south out there from my Levenshulme bedsit after escaping from a dangerous relationship with a disturbed schizophrenic girlfriend, April 1980. Had a drink and a nap behind a wall in a wood. Woke and saw Ian in there, wandering around on his own.. true story.
Love both versions, but the additional lyrics and the added synth are just so great. Love the louder drums, but the electronic snare on the up version is just so special. Glad we have both versions, no need to decide.
Just been listening to this version and the Unknown Pleasures one... They are very different, but I wouldn't say one is exactly better than the other. This one focuses on the beat and the music is almost incidental. The Unknown Pleasures one pushes the beat into the background and has the music almost harmonizing with Ian Curtis - The Bass is way more prominent. That version gradually loses control as the song progresses and so is an amazing bit of production. The single is better for clubbing but, if the Unknown Pleasures version is heard alone in a dark room, it becomes one with your soul. Like Passover, my other favourite.
I had this song in my head for years and never new who did it. I am glad I remembered a line from song. I googled it and here we are! Thank God for the internet.
@@whatamalike well to debate here... The drums in this sound like white noise and is very distracting, in comparison to the transcending sound on the album version. I do not like the overly done snare fuzz in this. I do love Ian's tone in this one, but not the way he's singing some of the words in the verses that makes the album version so great to me. Overall, everything but the drums sounds good to me.
The album version belongs to Unknown Pleasures. This version stands very well on its own as a single, and with its more abrasive, layered tone, could also easily be a track off Closer.
i could listen to this over and over again its one the best masterpiece love them dearly so dark and passionet and devine , dare i say it but goth and underground music like this is better then metal even thouh i love metal but this my cup of tea 😁❤️
Great version, though I always liked the album one too. He was one of the all-time great rock singers. This song was recently used on an episode of Halt and Catch Fire, in fact the episode's title bears the Song's name.
lenpey Actually the episode title was not this, it was Kali, and the version used was the one of Raveonettes ft. Trentemoller. But it was one of the best scenes on TV for sure, and the song totally fit in.
your comment is a bad joke New Order are a fantastic band as were Joy Division but you're comparing both of them like a 12 year old ...totally different bands i love both bands but New Order changed the face of music i never saw JD but saw Peter Hook 3 weeks ago in a 200 cap venue doing a 3 hour set of both bands Substance albums and the NO songs took the fucking roof off ...
@@paullever1041 Agreed mate. It could even be argued that NO (the 1981-1990 years) influenced more musicians/genres and had a bigger legacy than JD but they are/were both great, great bands.
This is one of 2 different 12" mixes of She's Lost Control. This version is on the US 12" while the other [ ruclips.net/video/FVgoV9TgYEI/видео.html ] is on the UK 12" and is a different mix to this .
The song written by Curtis who worked at the Job Centre in his hometown of Macclesfield, Cheshire, finding positions for people with special needs. One of his clients was a girl with epilepsy. At one point in 1978, Curtis noticed that the girl had stopped coming into the department. He later discovered she’d had a fit in her sleep and had tragically died. The incident inspired Curtis to write a new song about the girl: She's Lost Control
I'm so sorry for the generations already came, and for those to come /and its +- 15 yrs/ not having any appreciation nor respect for JD music, lyrics, sound... They are so good musicians an d sound engineers, with so much lack of good inspirations - they'd rather trust their machines and gear, then their own ears and taste... and feelings... An absolute and total lack of good musical influences, inspirations... NOISE
That must be why 41 years of listens have touched so many people on a deep emotional level. Tell us what music from 1980 do you think was more valid and human?
I recently just bought the remastered albums after just owning Substance for years. I seriously can't stand the album version. Sounds like a bad cover band.

The percussion on this track is much more fierce than the original. It really adds to the track
I agree.
A lot of anger in those drums.
Better than the original for sure "controlllllll"
Already know😎
Yes. This is it.
This 12" Version sounds so awesome ......from another Planet!! Love it!
@Paul Daniels shut up boomer god
Julen Lian Trehe no one likes you, loser.
And walked upon the edge of no escape,
And laughed I've lost control (goosebumps)

that final verse flows so well im glad they added more lyrics
Love both versions, but the additional lyrics and the added synth are just so great. Love the louder drums, but the electronic snare on the up version is just so special. Glad we have both versions, no need to decide.
Forever Ian Curtis and Joy Division!
This is the BEST version of this track. I still have this version, on CD, in my collection. I bought it WAY back in 1990.
Truly the best version ,
Great New Wave song
This song is the start of it all... abril 1988... I could never imagine they became New Order...
I dig joy division way more than new order
with Joy Division we are in the presence of greatness. RIP Ian.
That how he got that name
This is the right version! The best version ever!!

Album closer is awesome too!
so so so much better than the album version
I think exactly like you. This version is millions of years ahead

It's an interesting version but nowhere near as good as the album version.
@@jvcdeadmoney the album version is piss compared to this. The bass is weedy and Stephen sounds like he's playing a toilet rather than a drumkit

By far the better version.
my fav. version of this song.

I like the riff in the album version
Fav version
Hanet must detuned JD because they are from another planet
In this version, the chorus effect on Ian’s voice make him sound more mournful.
The best version.
nice one used to have this..
Still crankin it up 2021 🇺🇸👍
Crazy. This is my favorite version but took me about an hour on you tube to find you! Thank you
It's not a bootleg, just the version they used for the Atmosphere/She's Lost Control 12 inch single.
I still love You..
It sounds somehow like Kraftwerk, I like this version very much
Joy Division were heavily influenced by Kraftwerk, and in fact Ian used to bring Kraftwerk records to rehearsals.
Grandioso joy division
Thx for sharing this. What these guys did, is unparalleled
i could listen to this over and over again its one the best masterpiece love them dearly so dark and passionet and devine , dare i say it but goth and underground music like this is better then metal even thouh i love metal but this my cup of tea 😁❤️
This is the best studio version by far

@@95MidnightStar Fantastic series, fantastic song.
I've been looking for this.....
Ahead of its time
yes, they were certainly something else.
RIP Ian
RIP Ian your music lives on xx Lisa Mc Donough via James Kerr
Ian Curtis would’ve been 67 today
This version is better, but the album version fits better on the album.
Fight me.
I agree this version would seem out of place w the rest of the album
Sorry but I have to agree to disagree, gentlemen.
raw...
This is the one...
Well, yes but the Hannett production and Ian's voice make this their Best Song!
Punk..new wave..80s
Their legacy in 2 / 3 years was and is greater then new orders 37 year career

A young man doomed and subconsciously knew iit
I've always preferred this version. The album version is pretty weak in comparison.
D best
They looked classy with their ties on.....
Lu Schievano.
Was the song about Margaret Thatcher or the Queen of England? For 1979 was the year of severe economic inflation and recession in United Kingdom.
+Johnnie Walker nope, this song is about a girl who suffered from epilepsy and who collapsed in front of Ian when he would work as a civil servant.
It was about a woman Ian knew who died of epilepsy, which he also suffered from.
It about lady who have incontinence of bladder and bowel

Ian lives
I prefer the album version. The mixing is much better on that version.
Julianos This version is light years better. The drums are more prominent in the mix and his voice is much more emotional.
We are beyond Christ.
