I had to repeatedly keep pausing the video because I kept hearing an ice cream truck and I guess no matter how old I get that’s always the priority 😂 thank you for the video when I got my attention back from the ice cream the video is very helpful!
Ha, thanks I’m glad I was able to help you.
I replaced that purge canister. I got it from autozone. Symptom was after i refilled the car up at the fuel station. It would not start back up. Cruze forum said thats the purge canister failing. Replaced it and now the car starts right up. My emission light stayed on for a day and it turned off after a day drive.
Great! Sounds like you got it back under control then.
My car is currently doing this. Just orders the canister
I have the EXACT same thing going on as I type this, plus rough idle and spontaneous stalls out of left field every now and again. Just bought the valve, I hope I can install it without too much hassle and I hope it all gets fixed for a mere 70$ 🥺🙏
2014 Sonic. Same thing only different 😁
@@zekejethro I ordered the part but didn’t attempt to replace it as I just replaced the turbocharger, I sold my Cruze days ago but left the parts for new owner
@@dequanb7039 my Sonic is as base model as base model can get! No fancy turbochargers and whatnots.
I don't even have cruise control or power windows. I'm rolling on the oldschool crank system 😅🤣
my A/C doesn't even work anymore lol, but that's another story for another video 😁
Could you help please, like on the purge canister there is some round thing around the hose betwene the big valve and the fitting if you know what i mean. So i have ordered a new one but its without the round thingie so i will keep the original one if it has no big purpose.
I’m sorry, I’m not really sure what you’re trying to say. However, if you’re saying that your missing a fitting that holds the piece in place on the bracket, that’s what God invented duct tape for.
hey I have an opel astra j 1.4 turbo with the same engine you show, i got dtc's P0171 & P0131 I was told I have to replace that one purge valve is that true?
boooh
Yes, but if you replace it and it doesn't work, then you have problems with the PCV .
Yes, you can try it, always start with the cheapest part first and work your way up

How did you determine it was the purge valve that needed to be replaced?
Honestly, i just started at the cheapest part first and worked my way up.
@@hordebutcher2651 Great minds think alike 😁
This is my exact strategy! I so hope Google/RUclips saves the day as it often does 😆🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I seen gas leaking , drops of gas where you lost the red clip
Your new part is leaking. Didn't you see that?
I actually did not. How do you know?
Anyone ever have a Cruze go into reduced power mode? Shut car off. Give it a couple seconds then restart and usually it’s gone. But usually will come back of course at absolutely the worst time possible. Stabilitrac also comes on simultaneously when reduced power engages. Really annoying and dangerous checking around to see what everyone else has done in the possible similar situation. Lmk. Thanks.
Usually bad battery
Over temperature can cause this, design intended
I would check the ground. There is a TSB out on this car where the dealership will repair it, however, you can go to a dealership and just get the part and you can fix it yourself. Corrosion starts to form on the contact point where the battery grounds out to the frame of the battery. This is near the headlight housing.
I had my Sonic go into reduced power mode. Crankshaft position sensor and engine wiring harness replacement fixed that *so far... knock on wood* 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Welll
Indeed
Needs the 12v to open the valve
Thanks I’m still learning
20-70 mixture of simple green? 10% pixie dust, I guess.
Just spray it on the engine bay until all the problems go away!
This is supposed to show how to replace the PURGE CANISTER, not the PURGE VALVE. You never showed replacing the canister.
I’m pretty sure this part number comes up as the canister.
Hi
Hello!
sei americano?
😡this is the purge valve! Quit calling it the canister! The canister is under the car up on the tank. Too many videos i have searched to figure out how to get it out to be led to this!
Gm cars are junk
After my cruze I said I'd never buy another one. Now, I have a Silverado, too 🤢
Hows the Silverado going? Still have it?
Next time you may want to do a better job off the camera before you show us. I do not like watching you struggle beforehand the camera.
I have to show the struggle to let people know what their getting into. Otherwise they’ll think its too easy.
@@hordebutcher2651 yea don't listen to that guy.
I hate it when I watch a video of someone pulling theirs right off no problem, then when I get out there and try I'm yanking and squeezing every which way to no avail.
This happened recently when changing my air intake. I broke the clip on my MAF sensor trying to figure out how to pull it off, but the video I watched dude had already removed his multiple times so it just pops on and off as you would want. That's just not how it goes for anyone removing it for the first time.
Had that dude recorded his struggle maybe I could have avoided breaking mine getting frustrated over a piece that is "easily unplugged
@@hordebutcher2651 infact I just ran outside to change mine and pulled on that same piece so hard my fingers hurt and I'm pretty sure ima break it also. Any suggestions? Any idea why mine is stuck so hard?
I'm pretty short but I'm climbing up on my engine bay with my feet and pulling hard as I can, even squeezing the pressure lock thing with pliers rather than my fingers to make sure I'm pinching hard enough.
I frickin hate this junk. Everything should be bolt and nut secured, clips and locks always get stuck then break
@@RandoManFPV I think I know what you’re talking about. If you’re talking about the plastic pieces holding the components to the engine block or brackets a *long* screw driver goes a long way to helping you pop it off.
@@RandoManFPV I just reread your post and I know exactly what you’re talking about as it just came back to me. Yes that is a very hard piece and it’s at an inconvenient angle for sure. You just have to be patient and you can’t get frustrated. You have to treat that car like a woman if you touch it the right way it’ll come apart but if you struggle with it it won’t do anything
