@Angus Angus it's crazy the old one was so loud ticking you could hear it from outside the car..... the new one is a duralast one and it seems pretty quiet....thanks for the reply though....
Thank you so much for this video. Because you actually showed how easy it is to change, the knowledge was a guide to me in not paying a crazy labor charge. My grandson actually changed it for me with no issues. Thanks again.
I got charged $360 for the purge valve, Plus the PCV seal on top of the engine, I already had watched videos where the PCV valve was not sucking in air so I troubleshoot it everything I could from my end had all the codes from AutoZone, But you Equipped me with the knowledge,To call bullshit ,& I got a full refund from the mechanic &called him out for his labor time,Thank you so much brother you are appreciated!
Excellent video. Took me about 5 minutes to get the electrical plug disconnected because it was just stuck, but after that I had the old valve out and the new one in in all of about 2 minutes. Really appreciate the video!
Thanks for sharing! Had a p0400 code a while back that cleared itself, thankfully! Wheni got another code at 89000 something miles, assumed it was again the converter. It wasn't, and this looks like a cheaper fix than the converter. Your video was informative, detailed, yet like you said, easy for everyone to understand. May God bless you!
Thank you for the video. Just replaced mine. More wonderful plastic clips in an environment they don't belong. Be vary careful with the plastic, I would imagine they break super easy!
Thank you 🙏 thank you thank you thank you!!!!! Watched your video , bought mine off Amazon for the low ! And replaced the part right before my family trip to the beach . A week later the engine light is off no more shut off and sputtering after filling up or when I accelerate on the gas thank you Jesus !.
Thank you Sir !!! Having this issue on my son's 2013 Cruze. Just subbed to your channel. Very good video with demonstration and an explanation. The best one I found
i appreciate the video so much being hands on instructional. It was very helpful giving me confidence in getting the E purge valve repaired.Thank you !
You are the man!! I am so not mechanical and it went exactly like you described. Usually I watch a RUclips video and it take the person 15 minutes and it takes me 2 hours.😂
Just FYI i have a sonic LT turbo its pretty much the same but there is a little plastic slider that you need to pull to get the electric thing out and 2 clips on that one side to pull the valve out.
Thanks Chris. My buddy's 14 Cruze has this and a P0171, which kinda makes sense to accompany this code. I'll try to follow-up if the purge valve ends up being the problem.
Thank you for this video!! Had this same issue and replaced the part. Now my Cruze has a rough idle and sometimes shuts off while decelerating. Any idea what the problem might be?
I'm having issues taken off that round clip that goes on the intake and I was hoping your video showed how to unclip it from the intake but apparently you skip that part showing people how to remove it
I have a 1.8 L 2012 Chevy Cruz and bought this part thinking it was the correct one but it wasn't. If you have a 1.8 L you need a different kind of purge valve that Chevy will run you about 170 and you will not find anywhere online
I have a 2013 Chevy Cruze that's hard to start after I get gas and all the same symptoms... I ordered the purge valve from Amazon that supposedly fits my vehicle and it doesn't have that long skinny piece coming off the other side. Is it OK to use the old one?? Or is it called something else and I need to order that as well?
Is it necessary to clear the codes once the new part is in? The scanner picked up this part to be replaced, which I did thanks to your instruction, but it still showed the same warning and subsequent reduced engine power. Not sure what to do next. I made sure it was installed correctly. At least I'm fairly sure it was, everything clicked into place.
I have the 2016 Chevy Cruze with the 1.4l turbo engine, my purge valve is behind the engine not where this one is in the video and I can’t figure out how to get to it! I got the connections off but it won’t slide off and I can’t see what I’m doing
So do yo know if this code P0496 is related to the code P0171? GM will fix code P0171 and related codes on Chevy Cruze 2104's with a 1.4L engine at no charge.
Great video very informative and to the point thank you.quick question is there a simila car valve build into the intake and will it failings cause oil leaks?
2017 chevy trax has a tick coming from the engine bay and dealer says this is the part that would be causing since it has the same check engine code as stated in the video, is this the true cause of the tick or will i have something else going on?
I took my girlfriend's off to test it, and I blew into it but there was very little air flow. I could feel it coming out of the other side and I could stop it from coming through by plugging up the one end, but was wondering if that could still throw the code if it wasn't very free-flowing.
@@TheC0zz sounds like yours was doing what hers was doing so i'd replace it. And it is a common fail point so you might as well for 25 bucks. Eliminate it if nothing else. Let me know how it goes!
Hello, good afternoon, I removed the valve of my chevy and blew it, but it feels that it is covered at the time, I would like to know if it is necessary to change it.
How do you budge that clip where it feeds into the manifold? I've just tried to change mine on the Sonic -- which means a little less room at the back of the engine to use pliers than on a Cruze -- and it will not release.
I'm not sure how to word it but you just got to kind of get it off of there like I did in the video. I don't think I could be much help via text. sorry
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow Thanks. I was able to get the manifold connection free, as well as the harness but I simply could not move the line to the gas tank. The Sonic clip seems to be slightly different in design from the Cruze (clip made of blue plastic and more flimsy, fit of connector on solenoid tighter and even with the tab lifted well away I could not move it even half a millimeter, though with the harness disconnected the solenoid rotated freely on it) and so unless you have a idea on this I'm going to have to go to a mechanic.
@@NoNonsenseKnowHow the best way of describing is this.... Instead of a two pronged red clip that slides tidily off there's a single blue clip about 4mm wide that is super flimsy. It broke as I was pulling it back. Under that is a light colored plastic tab that comes in from the opposite side. That lifts away fairly easily though it keeps wanting to drop back down. But I think what's under that is just an incredibly tight connection with the Sonic. Tight enough the clips don't matter.

Is there suppose to be ticking coming from it???
@Angus Angus it's crazy the old one was so loud ticking you could hear it from outside the car..... the new one is a duralast one and it seems pretty quiet....thanks for the reply though....
NO NEED TO GO TO ANY OTHER SITE - HE'S VERY THOROUGH
I had this same issue, and the dealer was going to charge me $750 for the repair! Outrageous!
I just got quoted an hour and a half labour for this repair 🥴
You’re a good man...also, the best car repair vid I’ve seen on RUclips. Perfect delivery...No nonsense is an understatement. Blessings bro.
Thanks man

Super helpful! Took all of 20 mins to fix - although the one clip was harder to get off and back on than I thought it would be. Thanks so much!
Awesome! Glad it was helpful

Thank you, thanks a lot 🙏.
Just followed your video step by step and the engine light is gone. 😊
Here I was about to buy cam sensors. Glad I got the code first. These cars have issues but they sure are easy to fix
Electric clip was a bit of a pain in the butt, but otherwise quite easy. Thanks for the easy to follow video!
Awesome thanks ...because the dealership wants to charge 480 to fix it
No problem man. Yeah going to save big bucks if you fix yourself. Let me know how you make out and good luck!
Really? My dealer just quoted me $90
They be on some highway robbery shit
Very good video, to the point, confident, clear.

@buttaballa999 I am also curious if that was the problem as I have the same two codes on my Sonic right now.
any word?
Yop I have now p0171 not other leaks and a little high idle when I start the car in cold, could be this?
New sub here my daughter has an 18 and it has a p0446 will try this thanks for the video
Hey, thanks I appreciate that. Good luck getting it rectified
Thank you! This was just the video I needed
Sweet. Glad it helped. thx
It’s sucking through and I can taste fuel vapors” 😂🙌
Thank you very much, I may have something else along the line, I changed the valve twice and the sensor still gives me the same code.
Awesome video. Quick Question… Do i need to disconnect the battery at all before doing this? Is there any risk of getting shocked
Thumbs up 👍 resetting and go😀

Can you offer any insight into the fix with a 1.8L cruze 2015? Is it the exact same thing, I notice the part appears to be the same

this really helps. Deserved to get a subscribe, like and share.
Great to hear and thanks!
So do yo know if this code P0496 is related to the code P0171? GM will fix code P0171 and related codes on Chevy Cruze 2104's with a 1.4L engine at no charge.
No I wouldn't say that they are related in my opinion. But it's hard to say without seeing the vehicle and the symptoms
P0171 is also a purge valve issue..which will cause a lean fuel trim ....so one code can cause another code..ask me how I know....lol
I have a 2015. Did you receive a letter from GM or something?
Will this cause an occasional stall and make my fan turn on A LOT !
What this be same for code 442?
Great video, thank you
I have p0171 code and no oil leaks not leaks on pcv valve.. could be this ? I have a little weird iddle when I start the car
What kind of grease did you use on that part?
Will this show check stability control light flashing? Thanks great video my chevy cruze start cold shaking and the stability track light flashing
To be honest, I don't remember off hand if it did or didn't show any other lights. Thanks and sorry I couldn't be of more help
i guess I'll change the pvc valve and purge valve just to make sure i got the problem solved thanks ☆

I meant similar valve thx again
I went ahead and replaced the valve .. After replacing, my car is even more shaky when idle, what could be the reason? 😅
What kind of grease did you spray on those fixtures?
Does the engine light go off immediately after replacement?
No, need to clear the engine light with a code reader or disconnect the battery. Or drive the car and it should eventually go off after a little bit

Silicone grease would be best.
Is it ok to drive until I get the part? Amazon says 3 weeks to ship.
hi, my mechanic told me that this code is for the gas cap, but your video shows something very different, do I replace the valve and the cap?
Best thing to do would be to test the valve and test the cap

So it was the purge valve?
does the engine have to be cold or can i do this when hot?
Thanks ❤🌹so much very helpiful
Hello, good afternoon, I removed the valve of my chevy and blew it, but it feels that it is covered at the time, I would like to know if it is necessary to change it.
It depends. You will have to try to diagnose and see if it's bad or not. Sometimes they only fail when they are hot or cold

I have a 2016.5 second geneartion cruze. Cant seem.to find evap on mines. Doesnt have that tubing connector

The part in the middle comes apart on the 2012. It doesn't look like his does that.
