Just discovered your videos. This is a great format, really helpful! Will be binging all the episodes and checking out the site now, thanks for doing them!
@@JeDutchyIt was actually through Spotify. I was feeling that I'd plateaued in my Dutch since doing A1 & A2 courses and was stuck. I thought that maybe I needed to listen to some Dutch conversational podcasts so searched Spotify for something like "simple Dutch podcasts"-don't remember exactly what I typed. Yours was high up the list and I think the blurb described your storytelling kind of "parallel texts" approach which I thought sounded like it would be really helpful. Then I started listening and you said you wouldn't get paid anything for it if I didn't listen on here so I thought I'd better switch so I'm not exploiting your hard work! Having listened to a few already I've definitely learned a lot more Dutch and better pronunciation! Also have to say by the way that you have some incredible (and pretty scary) stories!
@@paulleach3226 aaah that's really hartverwarmend :) Thank you so much for telling me and I'm glad it's helping you. I'm also happy to be talking with you on here! On spotify it's quite the black box; no contact and no pay😅 Let me know if there's a topic you'd like me to make an episode about. Today and tomorrow I'm preparing the new season :)
Thank you for putting all the effort into this. This style is absolutely perfect. I would also say that in my opinion the extra hours you put for the "karaoke" subtitles aren't really worth the time. I find the subtitles very helpful but it would be totally fine without the karaoke thing. Either way, amazing content. I might book classes in the future
I like the new style! I prefer English before Dutch in the translation. I think the word list at the start is too long in my opinion. Keep it to maybe 5 or 6 of the most important words to know for each episode: words that you will use multiple times and are central to the story. If you will only use a certain word once, don't include it in the word list ;)
- Gespierd = Muscular - Vechten = to fight ; vechtsporten - Veilig = safe - Kwijt = lost - De blaar = the blister - blaren = blisters - De pols = the wrist / pulse - Veroorzaken = to cause - Het gat (gatten) = the hole - Het gesprek = the conversation - Bepaald = certain , determined - Herkennen = to recognize - De mug = the mosquito - Steken = to sting / stab - Oplossen = to solve - Langzaam = slow(ly) - Zeker = surely - Veranderen = to change - Ander = different - Geleidelijk = gradually - De hagedis = the lizard - De staat = the state - Zwak = weak - De huid = the skin - Verschillende = Various - zo ziet hij er ook uit = that's what he looks like , this is also what he looks like . - Er.. uitzien = to look a certain way . Zo = like that or like this - ik voelde me zeker veilig genoeg met hem in ... = I certainly felt safe enough with him in... - genoeg = enough , sufficient - zich zorgen make = is to make yourself care - zorgen = care - mijn moeder maakte zich natuurlijk nog steeds zorgen. = my mother of course, was still worried. - nog steeds = still - niks bijzonders = nothing special
I like the new style a lot. Especially the words at the beginning being displayed . Great episode.
I love that episode, it’s challenging but very good explained and the list in the beginning helps a lot as well as the subtitles. 🙏
this is the first episode I see but I think I also prefer that the vocabulary is given upfront. I enjoyed a lot, please keep doing it!
aaah hello! :) Glad you like it
We like this style 👌🏼

Thanks alot for your beautiful videos
Thanks! I kinda like the new English, Dutch. Instead of the Dutch, English.
It helps me decipher easier what every word in Dutch is.
