Dredge is a 2023 indie fishing video game developed by New Zealand studio Black Salt Games and published by Team17. The player controls a fisherman, who encounters increasingly Lovecraftian creatures as he ventures out further into an open world archipelago. The game was released on March 30, 2023, for Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.

Since the birds only seem to come if you're going insane and panicked, I imagine that in reality your character IS just kinda throwing them overboard and is like "Oh no not the birds again"
That does sound prety on brand for a Kevin character. Why, i wouldnt be surprised if "going insane after falling one too many times at catching fishes" is one of the countless origins of Jim Pickens. Cause we all know all roads lead to Pickens, even the sea roads.
I can’t believe Kevin is playing Dredge! The studio that made it actually are from my city in New Zealand so it’s amazing to see a New Zealand game being played by a huge youtuber like Kevin. We don’t have a lot of game developers here so it’s amazing to see a game from my country take off. It makes me feel very proud.

I love how different this play through is from Jack’s. Jack had a relatively peaceful play through, but because Kevin is so chaotic, he doesn’t seem to realize that all he needs to do is sleep at night, and he’ll avoid most of the problems he’s having. Absolutely no hate btw. Because Jack’s play through was so peaceful, I didn’t know about a lot of the mechanics that Kevin has stumbled upon. Like the panic birds
Oh I constantly run into shit at night because, just like real life, I throw sleep to the wayside and tell my character to suck it up. If I had a dollar for every time an NPC's told me something along the lines of 'are you okay? you're kinda just standing there with a thousand-yard stare', I'd be able to retire IRL. I think most nights, my fisherman gets like 2-3 hrs of sleep if he's lucky, if not just a 1 hr-ish nap to settle the panic meter before heading straight back out. The dude must *live* off of red bull or something
I honestly didn't know the birds did anything bc I only got them like one time lmao. I was too paranoid about Consequences and took a nap whenever possible.

Not only is Kevin a fishing genius but he’s a advertising genius, what a sales pitch Aitum should really hire him.
Fun fact: the developers were kind enough to send my game design class in Ireland some steam keys after we did an assignment on Dredge for college! Really cool game and a stellar development team!
Its a weird genre, but Kevin’s indie fish themed videos are my all time favorite videos on RUclips. Ask no more questions.

Would love to see a full playthrough of this if you're enjoying it. It has one of the most enjoyable fishing minigames of any game and the game is roughly 10 hours long

Pro-tip (though I'll post it below in case you prefer to figure this stuff out for yourself):
The whispering red fog only gets to you when the lights are on. Turn them off and its whispers cease to reach your ears.

Watching him not use a light or connect being out too long at night with the bad stuff has me yelling at the screen 😂. For those who haven’t played, the light slows your paranoia but you need to rest daily to avoid that panic state. What a great game.

I've been playing this game recently and i honestly cannot make myself go out too far from the main town at night.. the "ghost ship" just freaks me out...especially when it starts chasing you...and then even more when it get close to you.
21:52 If Kevin had moved the earring to the single spot on the right, rotated the cloth vertically and moved it right next to the metal scraps, and rotated the fishing rod to where the cloth and earrings previously were, he would have had enough space for the new metal scraps he got. It took me a while to figure out (I took a screenshot and pasted it on Paint to crop and move the inventory around until I got it right), so I feel Kevin made the right call in abandoning the metal scraps to keep moving.
I got an OperaGX ad before this that started with a headphone clap and for about half a second I thought Kevin was having someone else start his video
I played through Dredge last week and absolutely loved it. I was so happy when I saw Kevin had done a video on it!

If you use the horn right as the birds show up tou can scare them away so they dont steel anything, also be very careful driving at night bc of the spooks and the sneaky rocks that show up

Not too repetitive to get annoyed not too many new elements introduced to lose the plot.
Not too loud to irk me enough to close the video, not too quiet to have to make an effort to hear.
Fun segments and ads inserted and not being annoying (like better call Kevin) that make sense (not just random filler content)

This game is so good!! I highly recommend everyone to play it, i caught almost every fish (including the anomalies) except for two and tried to do every side quest (but i suck at the hooded figures ones so they all died )

The sounds and atmosphere are very unsettling! And we also fell in the trap of entering that big fish's lair! Luckily, and idk if you noticed, he sleeps at night so it's pretty safe to go there during the night time :)
