thank you for the video, i have a 2021 Low rider S und because of the cold winter here in germany the Motobike is staying in the garage for almost a month, normally in winter i connect the original H-D charger and it would get the battery fully charged within couple of hours, however this it shows that it is charging since 2 days. if i turn on the bike it works just fine, i am just wondering why the battery is not being fully charged?
This is what happened when I just bought iron 883 couple days ago, my bike sputtering all the time when low rpm, have checked the charging system and the bike shows low voltage, less than 12.5 V and decided to change with new stator, but unfortunately it doest solved the probs, the we have check coil, fuel pump, injection system & injection sensor, exhaust & air intake system show it all no issue, then we try remapping the ECU and voila....it works, now my bike is fine
Have a 2009 model Street Bob Harley-Davidson diner batteries going flat when it sits for a day or two done a test off everything even tested with a test light on the right hand side of the regulator there's one wire light comes on I think it might be a diode is that in the regulator
Hi there, I have an 02 Fat Boy and when I was riding the other day my bike decided to cut out without any warning. After a while it started and I managed to ride another mile or so before it did it again. It took some time but after a while we got it started and I rode 30 miles home without it doing it again. I did not lose any power when this happened and the engine sounds fine however the engine management light came on. I stated it up this morning and it started first go however when I turned the engine off to go and close the garage. When I went to start it again it would not start. I have had my friend who is a mechanic have a look and he seems to think it's the Stator as we are getting power from the battery fine however when checking the regulator and the end of the stator we are only getting 0.1 to 0.3 volts through when trying to start the bike. Do you think this is a stator problem?
my 883r roadster ignition and battery light on the dash turn on together after riding the bike for around 10 minutes and soon after that the horn gets slow and i can feel the bike loosing power. its a 2010 model and i ride it almost everyday.
Hey man I have watched alot of you videos and tested both regulator and stator. My problem is the volt meter dances from 13.7ish to around 15.5 while riding. It is a 14 street glide Please help!
Larry, I've learned that your specs are within tolerance levels, although15.5 is a little on the high side. I personally would replace the voltage regulator since they usually cost only around 50 bucks.
So what voltage should the battery have just setting there in the battery box??? What voltage should the battery have if it is "holding a charge" (as you say @ 1:20) ??? What voltage should we have at the battery when idling??? What voltage should we have at the battery at 1500 rpm or 2000 rpm??? Having us dive directly into testing components is BS.
This is general for bikes, and you'd obviously have to consult your maintenance & service guide for that info - it could be different depending on which bike you have.
When I plug my 2015 Harley XG750 into my battery charger my cooling fan goes on full blast. Without the key, when I put the key in the fan slows down but still keeps running
Check ground(s) & loose connections. If your battery is 3 to 5 yrs old consider replacement but first check your bikes charging system first to see if the voltage regulator is putting out the correct voltage.....or too much or too little voltage.
Hi Patrick, my husband has a 2017 Fat Bob. The bike would not start and no lights came on so he bought a new battery. Having installed the new battery, the bike just turned over a very small amount then nothing. Could you please advise? Thank you.
My bike runs just fine for about 8 miles then it will simply shut off, as if you pushed an off kill button. New batteries make no difference. I have a new coil recently as well. Regulator is about 2 years old.
Been a Diesel mechanic for over 33 years, started my career in the Marine Corp, Harley has the absolute worst and caveman style Electrical system I have ever encountered, the older Dyna's aren't to bad but the big twin baggers.. hope you got all Day maybe 3 days to diagnose an issue, I don't have that time, that's why I gave up Harley's 5 years ago and went with Indian. If Harley wants to keep using a 1940's approach on electrical systems then their bikes can ROT on a Lot for all I care. It pains me to say that because I have only purchased Harley since 1988. I will say though, Harley does a great paint job, better than Indian and lasts longer, but Paint doesn't cause electrical issues poor engineering does.
What about if not even charging its self

Thank you for being precise and clear with your information. Your shared knowledge is appreciated.

2018 Road Glide will not stay on after jump starting it? Starts then dies after I remove the jump starter?

Oh I have a 2011 Harley 883 superlow sportster and I'm very new at motorcycles and am learning how to ride it.

What about a faulty ground wire?

What if it's charging but never gets fully charged or never goes green?
If my stator and regulator and battery is brand new but I’m still having the problems that my bike keeps dying is there anything else it can be?
Vapor lock if the problem is the engine bogging after warmed up. I had this problem and had to make adjustments to my shovelheads fuel line.
what's the best battery with more than 310 CCA for my Harley?
When I plug my 2015 Harley XG750 into my battery charger my cooling fan goes on full blast.

@jpcycles
After shutting off my bike when I go to restart it it just clicks like it's dead again and I have to jump it every time I go to start it. Why is that

Sounds like ignition module
@@dempseygoodno4166 Thanks for your input but the ignition module is also new. (about 10 months old)
