I personally thought Cumberbatch was a great Khan, I know some people thought he overplayed it but I think he was perfectly intimidating and also arrogant
Montalban will always be the best, but I believe Cumberbatch’s version a great character in his own right. My regret is that they made him Khan at all. They should have stuck with the John Harrison idea and made a completely new villain.
@@VulKus117 I completely agree making a "Wrath of Khan" remaster in the Kelvin Timeline was a bad idea, I enjoyed the story and Cumberbatch's performance though not gonna lie and the music was amazing, sticking with John Harrison as this rogue agent wouldve been better
Khan is my favorite villain of all time. superhuman, cunning, brilliant, ruthless and at the same time he has a key factor that ant decent person can relate to and that is his vulnerability and weakness for his crew (family) ultimately i think he uses feelings as a tactic and doesn't consciously feel them. but you never know.. i think this soundtrack does a good job of capturing the different parts of john harrisson/khan. creepy and mysterious and utterly dominating at the same time.
+The Apex Predator I know!! Honestly I consider it a suitable theme song for myself. Not because I'm a supervillain or even that horrible, but I am honest with myself to know I am not fully good, either, as much as I would like to be. It feels...truthful, if that makes sense. :)

This is so perfect! Thank you so much for posting this. Ode to Harrison just wasn't long enough and this works out so well! And the transitions are really good, I don't even notice them. (:
Great job with making this soundtrack compilation! I really like the overlay between the sounds, makes me think back to the moviescenes of Khan. Looking foward to listen more of your compilations! :)
Your previous one disappeared from the youtube searches for awhile. I was going nuts without it lol you did a great job! Don't ever take this away again!
Read IDW's Star Trek: Khan. It's a 5 part miniseries and issue one released on Oct. 16th. During Khan's trial after pulling a 9/11 on San Francisco, Captain Kirk states for the record that Khan claims he's a 20th tyrant but is confused because he looks nothing like the historical files show. He pulls up a file of Khan Noonien Singh from the 90's and it's Ricardo Montalban! I'm excited to see how they explain his change in appearance.
Best fan theory ever that fixes everything and actually makes Into Darkness a much more compelling film: "Khan" in Into Darkness was actually Joachim (father of Joachim II from Wrath of Khan -- Khan's greatest rival). He was awakened first by Marcus and immediately took the opportunity to play the part of Khan and keep the rest of the gang frozen in order to stage a coup. Somewhere among all those human popsicles is Benicio del Toro waiting for his chance to rule in hell!

Were you the one who told me "Ship To Ship" also had the theme? I didn't know what to put at that part of the compilation, and I hated the transition there! With that track added, it's perfect hehe. And I really do hope they won't delete my channel again! :p This video was doing so well too.
+In Exile Ode to Harrison was released on a limited special edition from Varese Sarabande. I hope you didn't miss it...otherwise I hate to think what it's likely going for on eBay. :(
Nice work By the way, Khan is one of the best characters in the movie. And all in all you can't say he is evil, he just do everything for his family(his crew) like kirk. But he is genius and absolutly intelligent
Yeah. I know. Anyways, no offense to anyone who's a POC, I realize that a lot of them were offended by it. But really, it's been several months since the movie came out. I think they should get over themselves. As cold as that sounds, the fact is that their complaining and bitching is not going to change the fact that he was in the movie. And that's that.
I don't think the casting was intentional white washing. It was JJ Abrams knowing that if he cast a Hispanic or Indian actor, people would instantly know that Khan was the villain. Blame it on JJ Abram's insistence on secrecy.
They actually did try to cast two POC actors, but they both dropped out because of money issues. People need to realize that Benedict was not JJ's first choice. But he excelled at it anyways.
That was excellent! I don't care to listen to the entire score, does anybody have any recommendations for other bits or themes like this one that I should check out?
Love this compilation, as for Benedict's Khan, I like his acting, it seems to be a cooler more even keeled Khan which is actually more in line with the original series version. But not having Montilban's famous passion in the role doesn't make this quite as memorable, in my opinion.
Could it be John Harrison/Khan is another augmented human? Maybe the "real" Khan arrives in the 3rd Star Trek movie? With JJ Abrams take on the Star Trek mythology almost anything and everything is possible now.
It didn't have to be Khan. It could have been Khan's second in command, or one of Khan's rivals. After all he wasn't the only genetic augment to rule part of the world. Some roles should be buried with certain actors.
That's right. It could have been Khan's second in command or one of the others like his navigator. I expected the actor playing Khan Singh would be another Asian man. Possibly looking more Persian or Northern Indian this time. I was so enthralled with Ricardo Montauban's portrayal. The new Khan did not feel "right". He didn't have the face that inspires fear even when silent.
khan did not die in the kelvin timeline, so maybe more khan stories in say a kelvin timeline tv series. Not following kirk of course, more like a TNG era star trek show with a galaxy class ship several kilometers long. Wonder what a battle between a Kelvin timeline Galaxy class ship and a Borg cube would look like. Borg cubes are only 3 cubic kilometers in size, so it could be presumed that the TNG galaxy class would dwarf a borg cube. Battle of wolf 359 would be a slaughter against the borg and not the federation.
Amen! And.. And, JJ covered his ass with Nero. He turned it all into an alternate timeline which means they don't have to be what and who they were or would have been originally. Not to mention, Benedict would be more like ly to carry Indian heritage than Montalban who was fucking hispanic and chosen for the role based on his skin color, not actual lineage which for me, is worse than white washing. One shade of brown for all ethnicities. Well screw that.
Does anybody know what's the difference between the first son and the last son in the first time and the second son when the second son is the third son not the first one
Could it be John Harrison/Khan is another augmented human? Maybe the "real" Khan arrives in the 3rd Star Trek movie? With JJ Abrams take on the Star Trek mythology almost anything and everything is possible now.
Actually, that is a very good idea! It would also be revealed that Khan sent John Harrison to pose as Khan to trick Starfleet that they can deal with an internal threat (admiral Marcus) and an external threat (John Harrison). Using this false peace, Khan would capture the crew of the Enterprise, put Ceti Alpha V eels in them, and use them to attack Starfleet, causing a distraction that would allow the real Khan to attack Earth.
***** Hmm....never thought of that. While it is indeed possible, the idea of there being two Khans in the new movie series would appear redundant and repetitive to the viewers and would thus not be entirely probable. A more probable story for the next movie would be a fracture in the alternate/mirror universe, mashing the JJ Enterprise with it's mirror universe counterpart. That would be the most likely story, due to Zachary Quinto's statement that Spock will be sporting a go-tee in the next film.
That would actually be quite plausible, based on the movie alone, although (to play devil's advocate) it might raise audience expectations of Khan's formidability higher than he could match, upon appearance. However, I should tell you that it's been contradicted by the comic book tie-ins from IDW publishing, which lay out Khan's story in a 5-part series that explains just about everything.
There have been comics by IDW which go a bit into the events before the film and explain why Khan has a western look. SPOILER: His memories were altered under orders of Marcus so that he didn't know he is Khan. And to aid in that his appearance was also altered. Basically, the idea was that the further away from his original looks he is, the harder it should've been for him to connect the dots, even in the events that he might remember bits and pieces. But that still failed, obviously.
Dharma Jannyter I've read them, actually: a pretty good explanation. ;-) But if we were going by the movie alone, I can understand Sheldon's seeing it his way.
I personally thought Cumberbatch was a great Khan, I know some people thought he overplayed it but I think he was perfectly intimidating and also arrogant

I see so many people bash this movie, I thought it was incredible.

Wow, one of the best music tracks for a villain! So sad, yet really menacing.

Every time something gets broken, doesnt work, or just any odd circumstances around the house, I always blame John Harrison.
This is incredible! Michael Giacchino is such an amazing composer
Because I am better.
At what?
EVERYTHING!
I approve of this soundtrack. Now, if I could only have it played in the background wherever I go.
I'm getting the piano music so that I can play it. That's how much I love it.
literally just listening to this on loop for the past few days...Thanks for posting !
This coming from me, great film 🎥
Thanks a lot!
Impressive theme by Giacchino. Hopefully this score will have an extended edition as well.
Great job with making this soundtrack compilation!

Fucking brilliant!!
yeah pretty nice
Very underrated movie. Did not
mind Cumberbatch at all as Khan .
i love this so much. the soundtrack for this film is perfect.
I love that in the 3rd part (I think) you can here the main theme that announces when the good guys come into the scene

You've done a fantastic job with this
A Twist everyone saw comming a mile away.
Kinda shows that Discovery S1 wasn't the first trek where everyone's Fan Theory somehow came true
Amazing! Thanks so much for posting!

Wait so does Khan have like super strength since he's like you know superhuman?
6:23- 7:11
Yup. Those parts pretty much sum up Benedict Khanberbach for me 👌
It still pisses me off that "Ode to Harrison" isn't on the soundtrack. I'm hoping that the reason is that the next film has a Khan reprise.

Man this feels a little like fringe! I love Giacchino style
The best music. Fucking ever.
Where is London Calling??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Wow. My 2 middle names: John Harrison.
And you're a villain too?
And "Mike" is in the original Khan actor in star trek 2.
It is best of the best
'the guy on that screen' just happens to be acting legend Benedict Cumberbatch.
John Harrison was his first identity. It was later revealed that he was Khan.

so Giacchino 0:13 - 0:43 reminded me "get out of jaill free card"
loved benedict cumberbatch even tho Khan was native indian if im not mistaken in the original series
lol to the people who think Kahn is a sympathetic villain. the guy was a ruthless dictator.
Thats because he's good at everything even convincing people he was the good guy.
