A little tip for anyone making katanas…
I recently finished tanjiros katana by the same modeler and I’m starting other swords soon as well and I’ve found that when fitting the tang in the handle, spending a lot of time sanding down the tang to get it to fit helps a lot. Also never force parts together, sh*t’ll break.
how did u assemble your tanjiro katana, i have some trouble with tsuba and the habaki, its not the same shape of the sword
Hope he does all the demon slayer swords wonder how he would do Mitsuri's sword. But Uzui Tengen is next yay
Not a huge fan of Mitsuri but I’m doing the OG 3 plus a special one near the end of the anime
@@FranklyBuilt ca gluge is not a two part glue yes it has a kicker that help dry the ca fast it just one part ca with out kicker take long to dry
While making this myself, I realized that if you put the blade in Slic3r and mirror around the Y-axis, it puts the text on the correct side. Also, for some reason the text was already mirrored so this way the text is actually correct. If you need to make a second one keep this is mind! Great video thanks for the inspiration!
I may be biased.. but I like your version more! The repeating pattern on the Amazon drives me nuts, especially since it repeats every few inches. 😵💫
A wooden dowel would be a good option for some added strength, without risking setting off something like metal detectors!
It wouldn't be as strong, but it'd probably be more rigid than the strength you'll get with layer adhesion on FDM prints.
I tried and failed to make a smaller knife a couple years back but still have the file somewhere.
This inspires me to give it another shot
He’s the chosen one, he’s wielding the Z sword! Kibito Kai would be proud
I just finished printing this same sword. Thanks for some ideas for the flames 🔥 great job. Keep up with your awesome videos.
Wow. Just wow. Great job as always!
Amazing build, video and tutorial as always..
Love the way you work and the "easy" way that you explain how to do things step by step. I will start in a few weeks the HALO sword, it would be great to do it following your video. Just saying 😉
I see you are a man of culture. I also often have on Today I Found Out in the background when I am doing projects. Excellent tutorial as always
this looks amazing!!
Those reveal shots 🔥🔥🔥 so much fun to film!
Can't wait to get my Ender 3 and give this a go! Thanks for your videos such a great resource to learn from!
That is absolutely 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Very cool, i think the natural distressing you did does make it feel better
I just started watching it a little ago and I love the show . So cool how you are making it
Ooooh nice!! I'm early too!
YESSSS! IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO!
that looks awesome and you have a great eye for detail in my opinion cause war based stuff always looks better when it looks like it seen war
This is incredible. I made my son a wooden Katana last year for Christmas. My 3d printer arrived yesterday, so maybe I will attempt this to give him 3d printed katana this year!! That being said, I have only printed a calibration cube and two benchies so far lol
This is amazing!!!
A tip for anyone making swords of any kind with 3d printers.
You can both add weight and stability by simply adding a hole throughout the whole model. How? Well, essentially you will use a wooden rod / thin metal pipe as the center of the sword which will go into said hole. Super glue will be enough to hold it in place afterwards, at least from my experience. This can also add weight to the sword if you want it to be more hefty.
Edit: he mentioned metal rods at the end. As I said tho, wood is also a good option and gives it more stability, especially if your sword needs to be printed vertically on the 3d printer.
Gotta love this guy
Thanks for another good video !
El resultado esta muy genial. Muy buen trabajo
Printing this now! On my new ender 3!
Awesome, as usual
It looks super cool
Amazing great job 🏆
this guy is absolutely amazing
Everyone is awed and looking at the print, I'm here looking at Frank's hands to see if he has a new scar
His new scar of the week is on his arm this time! 🤣
Listen
Having a ton of fun with this print however the only thing that I can’t unnotice now is the kanji being on the wrong side of the blade haha
great video!
For better durability, you could always add a carbon fibre rod, inserted in the core.
Great video. Also you can get fiberglass rods that don't set off a metal detector but I'm not sure if they make them thin enough for a katana
oooh i'd not seen that PLA welding techniqe before, definitely trying that in the future
i rewatched this video like ten times because i was stunned i have my own 3D printer but im hesititang on doing a big project with it like that
Amazing! It’s always better to do something like the flames by hand. So much better quality 💪
I hadn't thought to make the end of the Katana lighter. I'm currently working on Zoro's katana myself, and the weight of the sword caused it to snap even though I fused them together with a solder iron. I decided to melt a hole into the ends and fit a tiny dow rod inside, but this caused some of the details to melt off the blade, which I tried to fix with putty I got from a hardware store.
if you're able to hollow out space in the spine, i'd recommend using a fiberglass rod! super sturdy, easy to get at most hardware stores
I wanna make zoro’s swords but idk which one probably shisui or wado anyways what sword were you making?
WOW que lindo proyecto. que buen diseño... amo tus proyectos estan muy buenos. Saludos desde Argentina.
it is the best sword ever i have seen
you have inspired me to 3d print my own katana
Never seen any animes and I still love it and want it! Looks so sick!
Same! I don’t watch Demon Slayer, but I love how this build came out!
I really like your videos and you are just a great RUclipsr. You can continue to make videos on demo slayer
Wow nice
Awesome, especially because I have katana pieces laying around that I haven't put together
ooh cool
Very very nice shoed bro 👌👌
He should try making all the black clover swords I recon they would look sick
I wanted a demon slayer sword for last Halloween so could have used this last year dude
i suggest when connecting parts to whole try using dowel joint, this will greatly increase strength goodluck on ur next project
Holy sh* that grand reveal was crazy
Those flames reminded me of the spitfire logo
carbon fiber rods are cheap and handy to use for allignment, and dont set off any alarms
I wonder if even a 3D printed katana would be con friendly. Maybe it depends on the con itself. My most recent cosplay was a samurai Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat. Kinda my own take on him. My original plan was to 3D print the katana with clear PETG but then I decided against it and made it out of foam. It was con crunch time and I needed it fast. I may try 3D printing one at some point.
you make me want to 3d print
If you're just starting to build/paint things make sure your spray paint never starts spraying on the object your painting. Start away from the object spray and pull across. Also stay about 10 inches away while spraying.
Im going to make mine with some small burn marks on the handle because he uses flames, so chances are good he would have small burn marks on the hilt of the katana, in my opinion.
... damnit now i want to build one
Can you design the sword segments to click/snap together so it can be broken down for travel and storage then reassembled easily?
It would be cool if you tried Obanai Iguro katana (Serpent Pillar’s Sword)
im making this one right now and i realized the hand guard is wrong. the flames should be facing up when holding it not down lol. killer work though frank!!!
No lol that’s not right at all haha this model is perfectly accurate to the manga and anime. You’re thinking of Tanjiros second sword. I promise lol 😂
You could always use a wooden dowel rod through it. Would help support it and not set off the metal detector. Not as strong as metal though so don't swing to hard!
@Frankly Built hi from your experience, what would you say can produce stronger prints for strength? FDM or Resins?
Yo I had the same idea after watching yesterday's ep on ds I was like I wanna print uzuis sowrds
Big sword
I'm printing a few swords myself and I can't help but ask. How are you keeping the katana blade so rigid? Like, even at 50% or higher infill my blades are still dropping.
hope he does the full doom slayer suit with the crucible sword
Does anyone know if there are scabbards/sheaths for these models? That would be great for cosplays as not to carry them by hand all the time.
Is there some problem if you do that sword or whatever on your small printer not one by one but lets say that 4parts of the blade in one go like you place it verticaly?
So you printed the blade parts standing up so you can get the details (japanese letters) nicely done?
Using an Ender 3 can we print the blade with 55 to 60 mm/s
Hey. Any plans making Lich king sword?
I have an elegoo neptune 2 and I'm going to print the blade of chaos from God of war does anyone have any good setting to avoid print line?
I'm currently doing this, but I'm on the part where I have to cut the flames out and I suck at it 😆
"Set your heart aglaze"
Haven't seen in 3D printers at disaster I can get one like that one
"The blade is all fused together in One Piece! Wait. That's a different anime!"😂😂😂 GOOD ONE! Speaking of jokes, The sword's fire! And I'm not talking about Flame Breathing!😂😂😂
Do you know if the creality ender 3 comes with filament
11:09 The Z sword. From drangonball
What is your speed when you print. Thanks
Any advice on how to prevent a floppy Katana?
Well it won’t be slicing and dicing people anytime soon it is still very cool
can i weld this together without the need for glue?
Sick vid bro and could u make some Attack on Titan stuff
Are you going to do a video on Zangetsu
i printed Tanjiro Sword from the same
guy and for some reason he made the tsuba and habaki not able to fit the sword itself not sure what to do next or just find a different file
the blade how do you take it apart its all together but I see you printed it in different pieces
how much material it used up? If i want to get it printed through a 3dp service? how much should I look at?
Less than 1 roll of filament
What kind of support rods do you use in your prop swords? Like what size and type of material would you recommend?
Metal usually
12:56 “very light coats of metalcast red”
*literally 2 seconds later: you’ll notice im actually going quite heavy on the red”
Listen lol
Can you do the Master Sword?
Do u think I can make this on a easy thread printer
As a question, what do you use to find your prints? I’m just now getting into this community and can’t find anything. Thanks if you can help!
Google. Check my discord for tons of links. Free and paid
Whenever I try to peel off the tape, I pull off the metalcast paint with me. What do i wrong?
Is there any reason to not run a carbon fiber rod down the length of multipiece swords. I would think it would ad a decent amount of durability and rigidity with causing any convention metal detector problems.
Can you try to make zaubza momochi's executioner blade from Naruto
Speaking about katanas, can you make Vergil's Yamato from Devil May Cry 5? :D
4:56
Nice Katana build video 😲.
