It’s so crazy how much your skin has improved in the last few months. I’m not only impressed but also extremely happy for you! Thank you for the videos!!
LOVE your videos! You should be a professional educator for The Ordinary. Very thorough explanations. Great information on what to expect if you don't do it with smaller amounts. I used too much initially and then found your videos. Your instruction introduced other products to me. Really appreciated your promotion of other products such as Cerave, Cetaphil, and Neutrogena, as well as The Ordinary. All 3 of the moisturizers are excellent. 2 👍 for promoting sunscreen. I assisted with a lot of skin cancer surgical removals. Thank you sooooo much!!!!
Hey Sherryl! :) Thank you so much for your warm words!❤️ This truly means a lot since my goal is to help people with skincare products, how to use them, what works for whom, and additional tips to have the best experience possible when using the products at home!🥰 Slowly but surely, I'll go over many more brands, but this takes time since many products are on the market. I have so much skincare at home that it takes a while, haha😂 Thank you again for your lovely feedback!🥰
Whenever I have any T O questions I usually come to your channel. I just realized I haven't showed you love for all you do. Now I'm liking and have subscribed. Thanks so much for sharing your skincare knowledge 🤎
I've been trying a number of the Ordinary products over the last few weeks. Was not sure exactly how much to use and after watching this video I did exactly what she said and got a very good result. I was previously using too much product and it wasn't absorbing well. Tried the HA 2 drops, Matrixyl 2 drops and Euk 2 drops, with Elta MD tinted sunscreen over it. Great instruction, thank you!
Watching this after purchasing niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, and the natural moisturizer, I can't wait to try it out! Thanks for the demonstration melissa!! Also, your skin is glowing omg.
Both! 🙂 You can use it in the morning and evening, depending on your skin needs. I also recommend watching the following video so that you understand it a bit better. The Ordinary For Beginners: ruclips.net/video/diaLVk_EsI4/видео.html
Thank you so much for this! My skin changes so much but is currently extremely dry. I bought all three products and they are working great! Also is there a video on The Ordinary's 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil?
Yes, they work well 🙂 I have some videos about Rosehip seed oil, which are already a bit older: How to Use The Ordinary Niacinamide, Alpha Arbutin & Rosehip Seed Oil: ruclips.net/video/Bg6dsbnSTHY/видео.html How To Use The Ordinary Niacinamide and Rosehip Seed Oil: ruclips.net/video/pnqB0XVnr-I/видео.html How To Use The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil: ruclips.net/video/v-revYnm7CQ/видео.html
I read somewhere that a damp face helps with hyaluronic acid. Is this not the case? This was the most informative video. I really appreciate your thoroughness and you've helped me realize what the "peeling" was that kept happening to me. I thought it was poor quality cotton pads and switched to a couple different types of applications for my toner before seeing this video. (I was using too much product and likely being too rough with rubbing the product in). I'll be changing my methods to resemble yours and see what works for me! Thank you. Edit: adding to my entry.
Yes, that's true. However, the Ordinary only uses Sodium Hyaluronate. Some Serums include both. I did a little video about this a while ago: The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid on Damp Skin and Dry Climate | What You Need to know! (Update): ruclips.net/video/8cnHmj-9pl8/видео.html Yes. And waiting a bit in between helps as well. And when using suspensions with silicon, the skin needs to be dry; otherwise, it tends to bill.
Just got a the ordinary gift set for Christmas. This is exactly what I was looking for bc I didn’t know how to layer niacinamide with the hyaluronic acid! Thank you so much! 😭
Hi! First of all, thank you SO much for the videos, they really helped me out! I’ve recently started using these 3 products in my nighttime routine but I’m a bit hesitant to use all three in the morning as well as SPF because I never really use daytime skincare except for SPF. Would it work to just use one of the serums in the morning, buffet for example, followed by SPF and all three of the serums in the evening? Thanks ✨
Hey :) If you are new to those products, I recommend using them once per day so that you can see how your skin will respond to it before using it twice per day :) There are many ways on how you can set up your AM and PM routine😅 You can use all 3 in the PM and stick to SPF only in the AM, that's fine! Or use one of the 3 in the AM and the other two in the PM, that's fine too! :)
Hey ur videos r so informative. Keep going❤ Can I apply moisturizer after applying hyaluronic acid with buffet in the morning routine? And hyaluronic acid with niacinamide at night routine? And for how long this routine can I continue?
Firstly thanks for your videos. Finally i found the best skin care channel💕 i have a question can i use hyaluronic acid and glucoside ascorbly solution 12 at the same routine?
Yes, you can use Hyaluronic Acid 2% followed by Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12%. And thanks 😉 I recommend watching the following video to understand how to set up a routine with The Ordinary products: The Ordinary For Beginners: ruclips.net/video/diaLVk_EsI4/видео.html
Thank you this was SO helpful!! I was very confused what order to use these in and your video has been so helpful! Does this look okay for my routine? I'm also a little confused where the nuface would come in because that has a gel primer too Morning: Cleanse (Cetaphil/Cerave) The Ordinary Hyaluronic Youth to the People Vitamin C with Caffeine Youth to the People Adaptogen Cream Sunscreen Evening: Cleanse (Cetaphil/Cerave) The Ordinary Hyaluronic The Ordinary Niacinimide The Ordinary Buffet Youth to the People Adaptogen Cream
Hey :) The order of application looks correct :) I haven't really looked into the Nuface products, but from my understanding, I would use it before applying the cream. Going from the thinnest to the thickest texture :) Or use the Gel Primer in the AM and the Cream in the PM :)
So glad I found your channel!! Love your videos, so informative and helpful. Thank you! I definitely subbed to your channel. Keep up the awesome job beauty 💜
Thank you so much for all this information! I already use niacinamide and hyaluronic acid, but I want to add Buffet. I also use CeraVe SA cream as moisturizer, and it has salicylic acid in it. Should I switch up the moisturizer when I start using Buffet? Also, can the Buffet serum be used only in certain areas, like only on the forehead and around the mouth where I have some fine lines?
Hello Maya, well, the pH of the cream is unknown. I think it has a higher pH, and therefore it can be used with Buffet. But if you want to be safe, just do not use your SA moisturiser and maybe get a different one. You can use Buffet all over the face or just in areas where you need it. That's fine too! :)
Hello Melissa! First of all thanks for all your videos! I am learning so much with you! Thanks for that! I contacted the ordinary customer service and they recommended me exactly this routine AM (buffet+ hyaluronic + niacinamide) and PM (buffet + hyaluronic + retinol 0,2%) but they recommended me the Argireline 10% being the first application (eye area and forehead)! Do you think is too much product? Thanks 😊
Hello Estefany, hmm, that is weird. Because Buffet already includes Argireline but maybe a much lower % 🤔 , to me it makes not much sense to use them in the same routine when only looking at the ingredients, but if they say so. See here: theordinary.deciem.com/at/rdn-buffet-30ml.html theordinary.deciem.com/at/rdn-argireline-solution-10pct-30ml.html Also, they always say only to use a maximum of 3 serums in one routine since otherwise it may be too much and the skin cannot fully absorb it. But generally, the Argireline has a light texture and gets absorbed very quickly into the skin, so it can work. But you need to test the combination. If you do not like it just skip one serum, or create multiple am and/or pm routines with only 2 or 3 serums :)
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial Thank you for your response! I started to use this routine last Thursday and I am using 2 drops of each product! I sent an email to them, let’s see what they say! Thanks again for your attention :) You have the best Skin Care channel ever!!!
@@estefanyfdn7411 Yeah, so that should be alright. So you aren't using too much of each that it could work. But please also let me know what they have to say 🙃 , and thanks
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial Hi Melissa, so they replied me saying: “The Ordinary Argireline Solution 10% is more eye serums - so it doesn’t really count. You can put them only around the eye area :)”... Basically they said that I can keep using the Buffet, Hyaluronic and Niacinamide in my AM routine and the Buffet, Hyaluronic and Retinol 0,2% for PM routine, and use the Argireline only in my eye and forehead area after the cleanser and before the other serums! I will keep you posted about the results! Thanks again! ☺️
@@estefanyfdn7411 Yes, that makes sense. Sadly, they do not show the % of Argireline that is used in the Buffet. Because I often thought about that combination as well, but I have never done this because their team told me that they do not recommend using multiple peptide serums in the same routine. I always assumed that it would be because Buffet and Buffet Copper peptides already included Argireline. So I may do another video about this. Anway thank you 🙃
Hi Melissa. Your work is excellent. Keep it up. I was thinking to start using Hyrulonic Acid (The Ordinary). Can I mix it with my moisturiser (in 1 container) so that I don't have to apply 2 products separately (only if hyaluronic acid's efficacy won't get effected by doing so ). Need your expert advice
I haven't tried that. I would mix it fresh in the palm of my hand every morning and/or evening when using the moisturizer. However, it will probably work :) Let me know how it goes! :)
Hey :) Have a look at the video below: The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid on Damp Skin and Dry Climate | What You Need to know! (Update): ruclips.net/video/8cnHmj-9pl8/видео.html Also, when using a toner in your skincare routine, you can layer it like this: - Cleanser - Toner - Hyaluronic Acid - (Optional) Moisturiser Hope this helps :)
Thank you for all your videos! I want to also include granactive retinoid 2% in squalane. Can I add that to this routine? Or should I remove one of the serums from the routine if I want to add the retinoid. Please advise what would be best. Thanks!
This may get very sticky. So it may be best only to use it with Hyaluronic Acid, Niacinamide or moisturizer. So create another evening routine with only 2-3 products. :)
Hi Melissa ! Thank you for all your videos. I currently have the HA, buffet, granactive retinoid in emulsion and the niacinamide. I was wondering how I could use them with the retinoid and if I would have to make two different PM routines to include it .
Technically you can use them all together, but as I mentioned in most of my videos, I feel that 1-2 serums work best, so I suggest using two serums per routine. For example AM Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide and PM Buffet and Granactive Retinoid.
Thank you so much for uploading such an informative video. I would really appreciate it if you could please advise me. I don't have as such morning routine and I only use sunscreen during day time when I go out. My main focus is to get rid of Hyperpigmentation and sun damage... so I want to use mainly 3 products for my night routine. 1. Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum ( Mon, wed, fri) 2. Glyoclic acid 10% (sun) 3. Vitamin c serum + Alpha Arbutin serum ( Tue, Thu, sat) so please suggest how to use it on weekly routine. How about using only one serum each night and using both serums alternative nights and using glycolic acid once a week? ALso do let me know if glyocid acid pads can be used daily along with this pattern or not? much appreciate your response. TC stay blessed.
Hey :) You can use it like this: AM: - Cleanser - Ascorbic Acid + Alpha Arbutin - (Optional) Moisturiser - SPF PM: - Cleanser - Glycolic Acid (2-3 times per week, maybe more often if tolerated) - Niacinamide - (Optional) Moisturiser
Hi Melissa, thank you for the video! It was very educational. I do have a question for you. I use the normalizing Paula's choice face wash, and will either use the heritage rose water toner or the Paula's choice toner. My question is if I can use the heritage toner with this routine? I feel like I won't be able to since it does have citric acid, but am wanting to make sure? Thank you in advance!
Thanks for the tutorial. Miss Van Dijk, now I know what mistakes I have made earlier. Are there any conflicts between the Caffeine Solution 5% from The Ordinary using my daily eye care cream with 5% of Urea later?
AHA (Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid or Mandelic Acid) or BHA (Salicylic Acid) Exfoliating Acids can give you a more radiant appearance over time. Niacinamide and/or Retinol/or Granactive Retinoid can help you to reduce the appearance of enlarged pores. However, if your open pores are genetic, there is not much you can do about it.
I just got this product, so thank you sssooo much. I got the Buffet with Copper Peptides tho, does it play a little different? Or can I basically use it the same way, with the same layering order? I have the Good Molecules niacinamide toner that I use after cleansing, then after that, it's all serums and moisturizer and SPF or retinol if it's PM. I was truly lost about where to place the Buffet in my routine till this vid, I just knew it was gonna be PM only because I use a vitamin C serum in my AM routine. You're the best.
Hey! :) What Vitamin C serum do you use? Buffet + Copper Peptides is a bit different; it should not be used in the same routine when using Retinol/Retinoid. They work very similar and may cause irritations when using them in the same routine. So, alternate between your Retinol and Buffet + Copper Peptides in the evening. Still, you can use it with the other serums you may have, like Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide.
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial I’m using Timeless. I was using Mad Hippie’s, but Timeless is a closer dupe for Skinceuticals. I gotta say, I don’t know if I can not use my retinol 7 days a week lol. A part of me is pondering a return of the Buffet with Copper Peptides and getting Ordinary’s Argireline 10% Solution and maybe their Matrixyl 10% too. What do you think? And again, thank you so much. You’re literally my new fav skincare RUclipsr.
Ok, so that one contains Ascorbic Acid, which should not be used along with Peptides like Matrixyl, Buffet + Copper Peptides, Buffet, Argireline...as it can break down the peptides. Buffet or Buffet + Copper Peptides contain different peptides, including Matrixyl and Argireline. So, either choose one of the Buffets or go with Argireline and Matrixyl. Btw, Timeless has also 2 Matrixyl Serums. It's up to you; either go with Retinol or Peptides! :)
What I’ve been reading is the HA is best to apply on damp skin! Do you feel this is the case even with the ordinary products? Many thanks and useful videos
Yes, it includes other forms of Hyaluronic Acid (Derivatives) that aren't as affected by damp skin since they can penetrate deeper into the skin and do not suck out moisturizer out of the skin. You can use it on dry and/or damp skin. The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid on Damp Skin and Dry Climate | What You Need to know! (Update): ruclips.net/video/8cnHmj-9pl8/видео.html
What Vitamin C/ E serum are you using? And yes, you can use it daily. However, you need to adjust it based on your skin's response. So if you feel that it is too much, reduce the frequency.
Hi Melissa, I'm in love with your channel. I am just starting out with ordinary and I have a question, would it be okay for my mourning routine to use buffet and niacinimde and in the evening buffet, niacinimde and granreactive retinoid 2% in squalene?
Hello Milena, Yes, you can use them daily; however, based on my experience, it' best to start slowly to give the skin a bit more time to adjust to the product, especially with retinol/retinoids. The Granactive Retinoid shouldn't cause any side effects. However, based on the comments I get, I still believe it's best to start using it 2-3 times a week and do that for a while before using it daily (if needed and tolerated) to avoid skin sensitivity/irritation.
Hi Melissa it’s ok to use in my skin care in the morning and in the evening this? Cleanser Hyaluronic acid Buffet(now called the multi peptides +HA Moisturizer
Hi! I have a question: I want to start using Buffet but I want to keep using lactic acid (5%) as well. Can I use Buffet in the morning and lactic acid in the evening, or it's better to wait a bit more time (like using Buffet one day, and lactic acid the other)? Cheers!
I have the ordinary Niacinamide Hyloronic Acid Rose hip oil Buffet Moisturizer Cerave Cerave hydrating cleanser Should I use all these both night and day or alternate ? I so use Paula's choice BHA 2x a week And i don't use Buffet on these days Thank you
Hello, well, you can alternate. I have a video about layering and how you can put them together correctly; see here: The Ordinary For Beginners: ruclips.net/video/diaLVk_EsI4/видео.html
Hello Sia, yes, you can. You just need to check the Ordinary website.(theordinary.deciem.com/regimenguide?ccvis=1) It will tell you what you can and cannot use in the same routine. Of course, it may depend on your skin type and needs. Some people with very sensitive skin may get a reaction when using certain combinations. That's why it's always recommended to patch test first.
Hi Melissa! I just came across your videos and I’m so glad I did. I just purchased a few of The Ordinary products. Caffeine, lactic acid 5%, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and the peeling solution. Just after This purchased I was given a Tretinoin .025%, I’m a little sensitive. Now I don’t know how to proceed. Im willing to add or take away and products. I’m hoping you have time to help me with a regime. Thank you so much
Hello Shelly, well it may be best to only stick to the tretinoin for a while and use a moisturizer before or after since this will irritate for sure. Technically you still can use the hyaluronic acid and niacinamide, but easiest option to avoid irritation is just using a moisturizer :)
I haven't tried that may sunscreens...I like to use the La Roche Posay Anthelios Ultra-Light Invisible Fluid SPF30 :) Your sunscreen is your last step in your skincare routine :)
Hello Heather, I did not include it since the Ordinary recommends only using three serums in a row for optimal skin penetration. But it's a bit weird I have to admit since you can include a moisturizer and a suspension afterwards, but it may be because they mostly include occlusives(ingredients that seal everything in)
If I want to use these three water based serum and the same moisturizer you use at the end but also adding retinol oil from the ordinary into the routine should I be using the oil as the last step or the moisturizer? Also can the moisturizer be combined with vitamin C oil for morning routine?
Generally, it's recommended to not use more than three serums on a single routine for optimal skin penetration. So, therefore, it would be best not to use one of the serums that I have used in the routine and replace it with the Retinol serum. for example: Cleanser Hyaluronic Acid Niacinamide Retinol (Optional Moisturizer) Also, the moisturizer is often not needed because the retinol is in an oil :) You can also watch the following video to learn more: The Ordinary Layering: ruclips.net/video/gMrV5WD8KkA/видео.html
Hi Mellissa, I watched a previous video where you thought buffet was breaking you out, did you find a solution to this? I have just bought it and as part of the ordinary basic anti-aging routine and am wondering if you had any advice on that or was it just your particular skin type? Thank you!
Hey :) Well, I just used it in different videos to show people different combinations. As for myself, I'm not using it since my skin reacts to it. However, I think that this is individual since I have read in my comments that some haven't had any issues with it at all and love the products a lot, and others came across the same issue as I had.
Hi Melissa ❤ Thank you so much for your great videos. It is really helpful. I use hyaluronic acid + niacinamid+ sunscreen in the morning. And Buffet and moisturizer in the evening. And three times a week a use glycolic acid in PM, and when I use glycolic I don't use buffet. Once a week, every sunday, I use the red peeling, and I don't use any other product sunday evening, except from my moisturizer. Am I on the right path?
I'm not sure about your specific skin concerns, so I can't provide advice on that. However, regarding the order and frequency of use, it sounds like a great approach. You will need to adjust this to your personal skin tolerance and needs, which can change over time.
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial thank you for your answer 💕🌺 Actually I had brown spots from the sun and also open pores. I started noticing some fine expression lines around my mouth and on the forehead. I am happy with the results till now, so much less brown spots.. less open pores.. I know I should have targetted spots with alpha arbutine but I found about it later, I have already started the routine. I was thinking about using vitamine C serum at nights when I only use glycolic acid, is it fine? I really appreciate the time you give to answer every and each single one of us. Hi, do you think this would be a good routine? It’s for my mom, she is 50, and we are looking for an anti-aging routine. AM: Cleanser Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA Sunscreen spf 50 PM: cleanser Buffet Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA Thank you so much!!
Hey. Well, Buffet is controversial. There isn't much research. So it may or may not work; from my understanding, it mainly depends on the thickness of the skin if it can penetrate the skin or not. So meaning it may not show any anti-aging effects at all. Therefore, I recommend that your mom uses Retinol as well 2-3 times a week. I recommend 0,5%. Like this: AM: Cleanser Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA Sunscreen SPF 50 PM1: cleanser Buffet Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA PM2: 2 times a week (for example Monday, Thursday): cleanser Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 The Ordinary Retinol 0,5% Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA She can use Retinol more often, but first, she needs to use it only a couple of times a week to build up skin tolerance since it may cause side effects. She needs to do this for 1-2months, and after that, she can use it more often if she likes to.
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial thank you so much for the answer. Meanwhile a question came up, my mom has sensitive skin and she is new to these type of treatments. I did some reserch about retionol and it my cause some irrition, so I was wondering if I could replace retinol with Granactive Retinoid 5% Squalane since The ordinary actually advises the use of retinoid instead of retinol on their website. So I would switch retinol for retinoid and dont use buffet, is that okay? If so, how many times per week should she use it? Thank you once again!!
@@margaridamoura5728 Yes, but 5% is also likely to irritate the skin. The thing is that nobody really knows if the Granactive Retinoids are effective since there is not much research. But you can read this if you like: incidecoder.com/ingredients/hydroxypinacolone-retinoate Another option would be using Paula's Choice CBD+Retinol 0,5 % since this is very gentle and you still get all the benefits. But you have to decide this for yourself ;) It's this one: www.paulaschoice-eu.com/cbd-oil-retinol-m2100.html Also, you need to use retinol the correct way, and if you do so, you won't get any irritation. Except for the flaking, but that's just the increased cell turnover. Meaning when using retinol, the skin is regenerating a few days faster each month. Instead of about 28 days, it will take a few days less. Therefore you will experience flaking, and it usually takes a few months until this disappears. Hi Melissa!!! Remember me? Btw i am that one teen boy that always ask you hehe with the name sarushindoru then to rodniclasn't and this is my new acc !!!
Niacinamide helps to regulate oil production, which helps to minimise the appearance of enlarged pores, which is a common concern if you have oily skin.

Hi Melissa, Very well explained Video ! Thank you . I have started using ordinary including glycolic acid toner since a month.yes skin looks great but the question is how long i should be using glycolic acid toner and all other serums ? Life long ?
Hello 😀 Thank you 🥳 That's individual, but basically, you should adjust it based on your skin needs which means that once your concern is treated, you do not need to use them any longer. Or basically whenever you feel the need. For example. If you have had sun-damaged skin and now after using Glycolic Acid it disappeared you do not need to use it any longer. From that moment on, you just need to be careful and wear sunscreen so that the issue won't come back again. I hope this makes sense 🤔
Hi! If my focus is a better skin texture and reducing pore do you think I have to put niacinamide first or hyaluronic acid to improve the improving absorption of the serums that I ‘ll put after it?
Hello, yes, that is very controversial. From what I have read (imgur.com/a/Q0EDyVq) theoretically, Hyaluronic Acid increases the absorption of the products that follow. But it also says that this is the case for Hyaluronic Acid only. And the Ordinary uses derivatives of Hyaluronic Acid, so I am not 100% sure if this is the same thing. So it may be different, but I highly doubt it. So it's best to apply Hyaluronic Acid first so that the Niacinamide is more effective. But to figure this out, we need a scientist. 😆
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial thank you so much for your answer!! I did the same question to the ordinary customer service and they answer this:”If you would like to combat pore concerns, apply Niacinamide first. If you would like to tackle hydration more, apply Hyaluronic Acid first. “ so I’m a little bit confused 🤪 finally I will follow your suggestion...😉
@@rorigig7361 Yes, that's the answer that I have as well. But I am reading a lot of books, and now I am even more confused. 😆 The Ordinary says: "If you have more than one water-based serum, you can apply based on the priority of your concern (the product that targets the most important concern should go first). And it's recommended applying eye-serums (such as Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG) first after cleansing. " But my books say. Hyaluronic Acid increases the absorption of the products that follow. And I am reading this in every book. However, they talk about "Hyaluronic Acid" the Ordinary used Sodium Hyaluronate. "Sodium hyaluronate is a particularly effective humectant because it is effective in both high and low humidity conditions. When sodium hyaluronate is protonated or made acidic, it is called Hyaluronic Acid. But sodium hyaluronate has greater chemical stability than hyaluronic Acid and does not pull moisture out of the deeper layers of your skin under particularly dry conditions." Source: lesliebaumannmd.com/hyaluronic-acid/ So I am not sure and don't want to give any wrong advice 😞
Which one are you using? And what is your budget? 🤔 Because Paula's Choice has a fantastic one it is called "Paula’s Choice Youth Extending Daily Hydrating Fluid with SPF 50"
Hi Melissa! Is this a good morning and night routine for someone who has acne and both dry and oily skin: (In order) - SPOTLESS deep cleansing daily face wash -SPOTLESS blemish treating daily purifying toner - The Ordinary "buffet" - The Ordinary hyaluronic acid 2% + B5 -CeraVe Moisturising Cream
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial so do you have any recommendations on what I should be switching out/adding? Some parts of my face are almost always oily, like my forehead, and some parts are usually dry, like my cheeks, nose and chin
Hm... Well, when I first started with the Ordinary, I told them my concerns and my skin type and based on that they gave me this routine which has worked really well for me: AM Routine: - Cleanse - (Optional) Hyaluronic Acid - Niacinamide - (I used to use the Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate 10%, which now is out of stock) and then switched to Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% - The Ordinary Moisturiser, but I prefer the La Roche Ultra Fluid moisturizer - SPF from La Roche PM Routine: - Cleanse - Hyaluronic Acid - Mandelic Acid - (Optional) Moisturizer I also love the Ordinary Squalane Cleanser or the La Roche Posay Lipikar Cleanser and or the La Roche Posay Effaclar Micro-Peeling Cleanser but back then I also used the Cetaphil Gentle bar of soap cleanser which I love a lot too or the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Cleanser. You don't have to use moisturizer all over your face, this depends on the moisturizer you use and your skin type. I have a combination skin myself and for example with the ultra fluid, I only use it on the dry parts of my face which is mainly around my mouth and cheeks and I skip my forehead and nose. Also, do you have a lot of acne or only a few pimples...? I can't use Buffet as I still think that it gives me breakouts when using it too often... Also, keep in mind that the Ordinary doesn't have any acne treatments. It may help with a few blemishes but if you really suffer from acne, I recommend getting an acne treatment.
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial thank you so much for the tips! I will be looking into the other products😊 I usually only have a few pimples, but I have a lot of blackheads. I have tried to go to a dermatologist, but she couldn't get every blackhead removed😅 so that is basically my main concern And also, should I be using a toner anywhere in this routine? (I read that it helps with acne as well)
Well..for blackheads, Salicylic Acid is great which you could use in a cleanser or leave on exfoliant (instead of Mandelic Acid). One that I like is from Paula's Choice. Or the Ordinary Salicylic Acid mask which you could use as a spot treatment because it can be a bit drying when using it on dry areas or all over the face. As for toner, you can use one but you don't have to. I like the ones from Paula's Choice a lot! Enriched Calming Toner..but I haven't tried that many toners yet 😉 You could use one after cleansing :)
Hi Mellisa.. Really like your video I have bought Ordinary product Lactic acid Buffet Hyaluronic acid Granactive retinoid Can you tell how can I use them for am and pm routine Btw I have dry skin.. Thx...
Hello, 🙂I can help you to figure it out: Lactic acid = Water-Based Serum, Exfoliant Buffet = Water-Based Serum Hyaluronic acid = Water-Based Serum Granactive retinoid = Anhydrous Solution The general rule of thumb for order of application is: 1. Water-based serums 2. Anhydrous Solutions and Oil Formulations 3. Lotions & Creams & suspensions Important: If you have more than one water-based serum, you can apply based on the priority of your concern (the product that targets the most important concern should go first). And it’s recommended applying eye-serums (such as Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG) first after cleansing. It’s recommended using no more than 3 serum formulations in a single routine for optimal skin penetration. About 2-3 drops of each serum and 1 pea-sized amount of creams should be enough for the full face and neck. Use a "patting" application method, as opposed to "rubbing." Always apply sunscreen when you are exposed to the sun!! Some products can have a foaming effect upon application depending on the other products you are using in your regimen. The foaming should not last longer than a few seconds and both should not remain sticky once absorbed into the skin. (Video: ruclips.net/video/r04W7rQV1R0/видео.html) "Pilling" (snakeskin, shedding) can occur due to too much product. Your skin can only absorb a certain amount of product, and any excess will be left on top of the skin so that when the next product is being applied, it rubs off. (Video: ruclips.net/video/l_C7HtO826A/видео.html) If you wish to incorporate multiple Vitamin C's, Retinoids, and/or Direct Acids into your skincare regimen, it's suggested using them on alternate evenings and waiting until your skin has adjusted to one before introducing another. Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% cannot be used alongside any pure or ethylated forms of Vitamin C. Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% can only be used alongside Vitamin C derivatives: - Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12% - Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate Solution 20% in Vitamin F - Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate 10% How to Create a Skincare Routine With The Ordinary Products - A Beginners Guide: ruclips.net/video/png_aAg5B0A/видео.html Since you have dry skin, I highly recommend getting a suitable moisturizer that suits your needs. I can not recommend one since this is very individual you have to test them and see if they work well for your skin.
"Water-based cleansers can take many forms, including foam or gel (but we'll get to those later). Basically, you'll know a water-based cleanser by the first ingredient on the label: water. Great for all skin types, these cleansers focus on getting rid of dirt, sweat, and other impurities" Well, you do not need to double cleanse unless you wear lots of makeup or a very stubborn sunscreen. But if you have an excellent cleanser it will remove everything in one go. But also the Influencer makeup is really stubborn, so you may need something stronger ☺️
I love Paula's Choice toners, and my favourite is = Enriched Calming Toner. www.paulaschoice.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-paulaschoice_us-Site/en_US/Search-Show?q=toner Generally speaking, they are all great, choose the one that suits you the best. Also, they may look a bit expensive, but it will last you for a few months so therefore they aren't (my opinion), but this may depend on your budget of course. 🙂
Hi Melissa! Just found your channel and wow! Love it! Definitely I’ll be following your videos from now on. I just got some of the ordinary products... tbh I’m barely starting to get into skincare routines, I’m a little bit lost on how to proceed, it would be awesome if you could help me out on how to combine, or how to even start lol. So I got the Hyaluronic acid, lactic acid, niacinamide, caffeine solution, and the aha bha peeling solution... I usually just wash my face day/night with cetaphil cleanser and sometimes use cetaphil moisturizer, also just got neutrogena spf 60+ sunscreen... Is there anything that I can do to begin with? Or what do you recommend me to use? I really appreciate your help! Thanks for making this videos
Hey :) Welcome!🤗 I recommend looking at the video below⬇️ , which can help you set up your skincare routine! Once you have watched the video and have created your skincare routine, I'm happy to check it :) The Ordinary For Beginners: ruclips.net/video/diaLVk_EsI4/видео.html What products you need and use depends on your skin type as well as skin concerns, if you let me know what those are, I can help you further :)
Yes, you can :) Generally, the order does not matter since both are water-based serums. For more information, you can watch the following guide: The Ordinary Layering: ruclips.net/video/gMrV5WD8KkA/видео.html

Thank you for this video. Im 43 and my skin has suddenly got worse, ageing and hormone spots which I stupidly pick and end up with scarring.I wish this had been available when I was younger as I'd probably have better skin now. I've just started using these three products and wasn't sure how and in what order. I've heard you shouldn't use Niacinamide everyday day. Is this true or is it ok using it everyday morning and night? Thank you!
Not sure if this is going to be effective for hormone spots, I highly doubt it. You may need something like Tranexamic Acid. Or even medical Tretinoin and Hydroquinone. However, you can test it for 2-3 months to see if it is already strong enough for your needs! :) And no, it isn't true. You can use it daily if needed. Twice a day may be a bit too much and can lead to irritation if your skin is sensitive. So you need to adjust it. But where did you get that information from 🤔
Hi melissa! I hope you can help me! 🙏🏻 I am not sure i am using my ordinary products right.. i have an oily t-zone and my skin can feel a bit dry during the day. I ofte get pimpels and have a blemished skin. I would like to use their Glycolic Acid 7% toner also, but im not sure how to include it in my routine. In the morning i: 1. Cleanse 2. Hyaluronic acid 3. Vitamin C 4. Moisturizer 5. SPF Evening 1. Cleanse 2. Hyaluronic acid 3. Niacinamide serum 4. Moisturizer
Hey! :) Use it after cleansing in your PM routine. See here: How to use The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution in a skincare routine: ruclips.net/video/NE3j3LPcaGE/видео.html Do you use a Salicylic Acid or Benzoyl Peroxide Cleanser for your pimples?
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial hi can you help me please? I have bought matrixyl, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and retinol squalene. Can you tell me which order to use these? I have deep wrinkles on my forehead and fine lines around my eyes
@@Amb3r54321 You already have the correct order of application. Still, I suggest creating 2 PM routines with the products you have. PM1: Clean face Apply Matrixyl Apply Niacinamide PM2: Clean face Apply Hyaluronic Acid Apply Retinol in Squalane I also suggest watching the following video: The Ordinary For Beginners: ruclips.net/video/diaLVk_EsI4/видео.html
Just leave it on until the morning and rinse it off with water or your regular cleanser. If you use it during the day, you can leave it on until the evening. (Or when you wash your face for the next time) If you need to wash your face more often during the day, wait at least 1 hour before removing it.
Hey! sorry for asking, but English isn’t my first language! does this mean that I can’t use the CeraVe SA smoothing Cleanser and after that the buffet serum? Have a nice day!
hi mellisa :> im new to the ordinary and i watched tons of your vids to help me out. i wonder if i get it correcly tho so heres my routine am : hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, buffet, pm 1 : hyaluronic acid, retinol 0.5%, buffet pm 2 : hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, ascorbic glucoside and i also use aha bha peeling solution once a week which is aha hba peeling solution, toner with no peptide or acid, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and i finish it off w a moisturiser and im wondering if i should use my moisturiser everytime i finish applying my serum? thank you so much for your help :>>
Hello Daya, Like this: am : hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, buffet, pm 1 : hyaluronic acid, buffet, retinol 0.5% pm 2 : hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, ascorbic glucoside And with the peel, yes, that should work. Still, from my experience, it is best to keep it very simple after the peel; use your moisturizer only. (or hydrating products such as Hyaluronic Acid, Amino Acids, Marine Hyaluronics) And for the serums, it depends; if you feel that it isn't hydrating enough, add the moisturizer as the last step. Just test it 😉
Hi are these good routines? AM: CeraVe Hydrating cleanser Hyaluronic acid Buffet Niacinamide + zinc CeraVe moisturizing lotion Purito spf 50 PM: CeraVe SA smoothing cleanser Buffet Niacinamide + zinc CeraVe moisturizing lotion Is it ok to use Buffet after the SA cleanser if buffet doesn't react well with salicylic acid?
Hey! Your routine looks great😊 However, you may want to create two different routines and not repeating the AM routine in the PM as well, this way you'll skin has a chance to adjust + targeting more than one concern in a day and not using too much of each product. For example like this: AM Routine: - Cleanse (Hydrating) - Hyaluronic Acid - Buffet - Moisturiser - SPF PM Routine: - Cleanse (SA) - Hyaluronic Acid - Niacinamide - Moisturiser Hope that this helps😊
hiii I want to ask after I apply the hyaluronic acid 2% + B5, can I finished it with just a moisturizer after if I'm new into skincare? or do I need to add other products into the routine?
Yeah, that's fine! :) Well, what you include in your skincare routine depends on your skin concerns. However, if you just want to hydrate it and keep it simple, that's a good routine :)
Hey again Would this be a good routine AM: Neutrogena hydro boost cleaner water gel Vitamin C brightening eye gel The ordinary hyaluronic acid 2% + B5 2% BHA LIQUID exfoliant paulas choice CeraVe moisturise lotion SPF 25 PM: Same cleanser Eye gel vitamin C 1% retinol treatment paulas choice CeraVe moisturiser SPF 25? Would this be ok or anything I could change ? Thank you so much for all your tips 🙏💜
Hey :) Have a look at the other reply! Your AM and PM routine look great, and the order of application is correct too. Still, I recommend checking out the other reply/videos I've linked to have a better understand how often you should use them because PC 1% Retinol is quite strong! Also, you don't need to use a moisturiser with SPF in the PM a normal moisturiser is fine too! :)
Hello. Can I ask a question? Can you use hyaluronic acid and azelaic acid together for the morning routine? How about retinol and hyaluronic acid for the evening routine? And does retinol comes first when applying or the hyaluronic acid?
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial i have oily skin and I have acne prone skin but when I started using the ordinary niacinamide and azelaic acid i have minimal acne already. For morning routine i use a toner then niacinamide then azelaic acid then sunscreen For the evening routine I use toner then niacinamide then 0.2% retinol ☺️☺️
Thank you so much for your warm words!❤️
This truly means a lot since my goal is to help people with skincare products, how to use them, what works for whom, and additional tips to have the best experience possible when using the products at home!🥰
Slowly but surely, I'll go over many more brands, but this takes time since many products are on the market. I have so much skincare at home that it takes a while, haha😂
Thank you again for your lovely feedback!🥰
Whenever I have any T O questions I usually come to your channel. I just realized I haven't showed you love for all you do. Now I'm liking and have subscribed. Thanks so much for sharing your skincare knowledge 🤎
Hey! :)
Thank you so much, I truly appreciate your love and support for my video!❤️
I've been trying a number of the Ordinary products over the last few weeks. Was not sure exactly how much to use and after watching this video I did exactly what she said and got a very good result. I was previously using too much product and it wasn't absorbing well. Tried the HA 2 drops, Matrixyl 2 drops and Euk 2 drops, with Elta MD tinted sunscreen over it. Great instruction, thank you!
I'm happy to hear that it was helpful! :)
Very organized with your presentation. My favourite resource person for the Ordinary products

Mine too, you are amazing Melissa
THIS IS MY ROUTINE. I usually use Hyaluronic acid and Niacinamide, but now I add the Buffet

You're very welcome! 🙂
I did a little video about this a while ago:
The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid on Damp Skin and Dry Climate | What You Need to know! (Update):
ruclips.net/video/8cnHmj-9pl8/видео.html
Yes. And waiting a bit in between helps as well. And when using suspensions with silicon, the skin needs to be dry; otherwise, it tends to bill.
Thank you so much for this info!

Greetings from Luxembourg! 🇱🇺
Just got a the ordinary gift set for Christmas. This is exactly what I was looking for bc I didn’t know how to layer niacinamide with the hyaluronic acid! Thank you so much! 😭
🙂
Your skin!! I love it!🥰
After watching this overall video I think I am falling love with you😀😀
Oh😉
Thanks ✨
Hey :)
If you are new to those products, I recommend using them once per day so that you can see how your skin will respond to it before using it twice per day :)
There are many ways on how you can set up your AM and PM routine😅
You can use all 3 in the PM and stick to SPF only in the AM, that's fine! Or use one of the 3 in the AM and the other two in the PM, that's fine too! :)
Hey ur videos r so informative. Keep going❤
Can I apply moisturizer after applying hyaluronic acid with buffet in the morning routine? And hyaluronic acid with niacinamide at night routine? And for how long this routine can I continue?
yes you can. There is no time limit. So you just can use them as long as you want, or need it.
And thanks 😉
I recommend watching the following video to understand how to set up a routine with The Ordinary products:
The Ordinary For Beginners:
ruclips.net/video/diaLVk_EsI4/видео.html
Thank you this was SO helpful!! I was very confused what order to use these in and your video has been so helpful! Does this look okay for my routine? I'm also a little confused where the nuface would come in because that has a gel primer too
Morning:
Cleanse (Cetaphil/Cerave)
The Ordinary Hyaluronic
Youth to the People Vitamin C with Caffeine
Youth to the People Adaptogen Cream
Sunscreen
Evening:
Cleanse (Cetaphil/Cerave)
The Ordinary Hyaluronic
The Ordinary Niacinimide
The Ordinary Buffet
Youth to the People Adaptogen Cream
Hey :)
The order of application looks correct :)
I haven't really looked into the Nuface products, but from my understanding, I would use it before applying the cream. Going from the thinnest to the thickest texture :) Or use the Gel Primer in the AM and the Cream in the PM :)
Thanks ...great job of explaining.
I like how you explain every step👏🤗
Thank you! 😊
So glad I found your channel!! Love your videos, so informative and helpful. Thank you! I definitely subbed to your channel. Keep up the awesome job beauty 💜
Thanks for subbing! And I am happy to help ❤️
Good information given..very useful n informative
Good video ..
Thank you :)
See here:
theordinary.deciem.com/at/rdn-buffet-30ml.html
theordinary.deciem.com/at/rdn-argireline-solution-10pct-30ml.html
Also, they always say only to use a maximum of 3 serums in one routine since otherwise it may be too much and the skin cannot fully absorb it.
Anway thank you 🙃
Hi Melissa, Thank you for making this videos in a simple way. I would like to know that is it ok to use skin brightness cream while using naicinamide?
Hey 😃 What cream do you have at home 🤔?
Love your content! Are you able to use retinoids with this routine?
In case you meant the Ordinary retinoids, yes you can. Use them before Moisturizer.
Thankssss! Been looking for this!! ☺️

@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial Sure, thanks.

- Toner
- Hyaluronic Acid
- (Optional) Moisturiser
Hope this helps :)

For example
AM Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide
and
PM Buffet and Granactive Retinoid.
1. Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum ( Mon, wed, fri)
2. Glyoclic acid 10% (sun)
3. Vitamin c serum + Alpha Arbutin serum ( Tue, Thu, sat)
so please suggest how to use it on weekly routine. How about using only one serum each night and using both serums alternative nights and using glycolic acid once a week? ALso do let me know if glyocid acid pads can be used daily along with this pattern or not? much appreciate your response. TC stay blessed.
Hey :)
You can use it like this:
AM:
- Cleanser
- Ascorbic Acid + Alpha Arbutin
- (Optional) Moisturiser
- SPF
PM:
- Cleanser
- Glycolic Acid (2-3 times per week, maybe more often if tolerated)
- Niacinamide
- (Optional) Moisturiser
Hi Melissa, thank you for the video! It was very educational. I do have a question for you. I use the normalizing Paula's choice face wash, and will either use the heritage rose water toner or the Paula's choice toner. My question is if I can use the heritage toner with this routine? I feel like I won't be able to since it does have citric acid, but am wanting to make sure? Thank you in advance!
Hey! :)
Yes, that's fine :)
Citric Acid is often being used to balance the pH of a product :)
Thanks for the tutorial. Miss Van Dijk, now I know what mistakes I have made earlier. Are there any conflicts between the Caffeine Solution 5% from The Ordinary using my daily eye care cream with 5% of Urea later?
I don't think so. At least not that I am aware of.
plz tell me best time to use niacinamide for open pore???
and also tell me which ordinary product give me skin glow and even tone
Hey! :)
What Vitamin C serum do you use?

Hi Melissa, I'm in love with your channel. I am just starting out with ordinary and I have a question, would it be okay for my mourning routine to use buffet and niacinimde and in the evening buffet, niacinimde and granreactive retinoid 2% in squalene?
Hello Milena,
Yes, you can use them daily; however, based on my experience, it' best to start slowly to give the skin a bit more time to adjust to the product, especially with retinol/retinoids.
Cleanser
Hyaluronic acid
Buffet(now called the multi peptides +HA
Moisturizer
Hello Vincenzo, yes that's okay.
Hi! I have a question: I want to start using Buffet but I want to keep using lactic acid (5%) as well. Can I use Buffet in the morning and lactic acid in the evening, or it's better to wait a bit more time (like using Buffet one day, and lactic acid the other)? Cheers!
Hello. Yes, you can sue Buffet in the morning and Lactic Acid in the evening. You just should not layer them immediately after another. 🙂
Hai i want to use hylouranic acid and niacinamide together
How can i use this everyday and after this application can i use any fairness creams
I have the ordinary
Niacinamide
Hyloronic Acid
Rose hip oil
Buffet
Moisturizer Cerave
Cerave hydrating cleanser
Should I use all these both night and day or alternate ?
I so use Paula's choice BHA 2x a week
And i don't use Buffet on these days
Thank you
Hello, well, you can alternate. I have a video about layering and how you can put them together correctly; see here:
The Ordinary For Beginners:
ruclips.net/video/diaLVk_EsI4/видео.html
I don’t think you can use buffet with Retinols. Also, I find the Ordinary NMF very dry when applied after the actives.
Thank you!
Hi. I like your videos. I know I’m late commenting. But I was wonderful no if I can use these with my advance snail 96 mucin power essence. Thank you
Yes you can! :)
Hello, can you please tell us what kind of sunscreen should we use after using ordinary products and when to use ?
I haven't tried that may sunscreens...I like to use the La Roche Posay Anthelios Ultra-Light Invisible Fluid SPF30 :)
Your sunscreen is your last step in your skincare routine :)
Hi Melissa, Great video, very informative. Would it be ok to use my Rosehip Oil with this routine?
So, therefore, it would be best not to use one of the serums that I have used in the routine and replace it with the Retinol serum.
for example:
Cleanser
Hyaluronic Acid
Niacinamide
Retinol
(Optional Moisturizer)
Also, the moisturizer is often not needed because the retinol is in an oil :)

Hi Mellissa, I watched a previous video where you thought buffet was breaking you out, did you find a solution to this? I have just bought it and as part of the ordinary basic anti-aging routine and am wondering if you had any advice on that or was it just your particular skin type?
Thank you!
Hey :)
Well, I just used it in different videos to show people different combinations.
As for myself, I'm not using it since my skin reacts to it.
However, I think that this is individual since I have read in my comments that some haven't had any issues with it at all and love the products a lot, and others came across the same issue as I had.
Thanks. Give me right advice
Hi Melissa ❤
Thank you so much for your great videos.
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial thank you for your answer 💕🌺
Actually I had brown spots from the sun and also open pores.

Hi, do you think this would be a good routine? It’s for my mom, she is 50, and we are looking for an anti-aging routine.
AM:
Cleanser
Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA
Sunscreen spf 50
PM:
cleanser
Buffet
Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5
Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA
Thank you so much!!
Like this:
AM:
Cleanser
Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA
Sunscreen SPF 50
PM1:
cleanser
Buffet
Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5
Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA
PM2: 2 times a week (for example Monday, Thursday):
cleanser
Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5
The Ordinary Retinol 0,5%
Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA
She can use Retinol more often, but first, she needs to use it only a couple of times a week to build up skin tolerance since it may cause side effects.
But you can read this if you like: incidecoder.com/ingredients/hydroxypinacolone-retinoate
Another option would be using Paula's Choice CBD+Retinol 0,5 % since this is very gentle and you still get all the benefits. But you have to decide this for yourself ;)
It's this one: www.paulaschoice-eu.com/cbd-oil-retinol-m2100.html
Also, you need to use retinol the correct way, and if you do so, you won't get any irritation. Except for the flaking, but that's just the increased cell turnover. Meaning when using retinol, the skin is regenerating a few days faster each month. Instead of about 28 days, it will take a few days less. Therefore you will experience flaking, and it usually takes a few months until this disappears.

Niacinamide helps to regulate oil production, which helps to minimise the appearance of enlarged pores, which is a common concern if you have oily skin.

if this routine of mine is good?
1. cleanser: cerave hydrating to foaming cleanser
2. toner : garnier micellar water
3. serum aveeno
4. bha Paulas choice
4. niacinamide : ordinary
5. cerave moisturizer/ night cream aveeno
6. cerave spf30

Your micellar water is not a toner! :)
I use micellar water to remove my makeup with it and then move on to cleanser to wash my face properly! :)
So like this:
- Micellar Water
- Cleanser
- BHA Paula's Choice
- Niacinamide
- Aveeno Serum
- Moisturizer
- SPF (AM)

How yould you use the buffet, hyaluronic acid and retinol? Or would you not recommend them all together
You can use them all together (Hyaluronic Acid, Buffet and then Retinol) or use Hyaluronic Acid and Buffet in the AM and Retinol in the PM. Either way is fine! :)
Can i use copper peptide and alternate day and night with ascorbyl glucoside brightening solution?
You can use them in the same routine or alternate between them. Either way is fine! :)

Hi Melissa, Very well explained Video ! Thank you . I have started using ordinary including glycolic acid toner since a month.yes skin looks great but the question is how long i should be using glycolic acid toner and all other serums ? Life long ?
Hello 😀 Thank you 🥳
That's individual, but basically, you should adjust it based on your skin needs which means that once your concern is treated, you do not need to use them any longer.
Your glowing 😍
Thank you! :)
The Ordinary says:
"If you have more than one water-based serum, you can apply based on the priority of your concern (the product that targets the most important concern should go first). And it's recommended applying eye-serums (such as Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG) first after cleansing. "
But my books say.
But sodium hyaluronate has greater chemical stability than hyaluronic Acid and does not pull moisture out of the deeper layers of your skin under particularly dry conditions."

So I am not sure and don't want to give any wrong advice 😞
Can u please suggest any sunscreen for oily skin
Sunscreen makes my skin very greasy thoughout the day
Which one are you using? And what is your budget? 🤔 Because Paula's Choice has a fantastic one it is called "Paula’s Choice Youth Extending Daily Hydrating Fluid with SPF 50"
Hi Melissa! Is this a good morning and night routine for someone who has acne and both dry and oily skin:
(In order)
- SPOTLESS deep cleansing daily face wash
-SPOTLESS blemish treating daily purifying toner
- The Ordinary "buffet"
- The Ordinary hyaluronic acid 2% + B5
-CeraVe Moisturising Cream
Personally I don't think so. What do you mean with dry and oily skin? Is it dehydrated and produces a lot of oil afterwards?
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial so do you have any recommendations on what I should be switching out/adding?
Some parts of my face are almost always oily, like my forehead, and some parts are usually dry, like my cheeks, nose and chin
Hm...
Well, when I first started with the Ordinary, I told them my concerns and my skin type and based on that they gave me this routine which has worked really well for me:
AM Routine:
- Cleanse
- (Optional) Hyaluronic Acid
- Niacinamide
- (I used to use the Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate 10%, which now is out of stock) and then switched to Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12%
- The Ordinary Moisturiser, but I prefer the La Roche Ultra Fluid moisturizer
- SPF from La Roche
PM Routine:
- Cleanse
- Hyaluronic Acid
- Mandelic Acid
- (Optional) Moisturizer
I also love the Ordinary Squalane Cleanser or the La Roche Posay Lipikar Cleanser and or the La Roche Posay Effaclar Micro-Peeling Cleanser but back then I also used the Cetaphil Gentle bar of soap cleanser which I love a lot too or the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Cleanser.
I have tried to go to a dermatologist, but she couldn't get every blackhead removed😅 so that is basically my main concern
And also, should I be using a toner anywhere in this routine? (I read that it helps with acne as well)
Well..for blackheads, Salicylic Acid is great which you could use in a cleanser or leave on exfoliant (instead of Mandelic Acid). One that I like is from Paula's Choice. Or the Ordinary Salicylic Acid mask which you could use as a spot treatment because it can be a bit drying when using it on dry areas or all over the face.
As for toner, you can use one but you don't have to. I like the ones from Paula's Choice a lot! Enriched Calming Toner..but I haven't tried that many toners yet 😉
You could use one after cleansing :)
Hi Mellisa.. Really like your video I have bought
Ordinary product
Lactic acid
Buffet
Hyaluronic acid
Granactive retinoid
Can you tell how can I use them for am and pm routine
Btw I have dry skin..
Thx...
Hello, 🙂I can help you to figure it out:
Lactic acid = Water-Based Serum, Exfoliant
Buffet = Water-Based Serum
Hyaluronic acid = Water-Based Serum
Granactive retinoid = Anhydrous Solution
The general rule of thumb for order of application is:
1. Water-based serums
2. Anhydrous Solutions and Oil Formulations
3. Lotions & Creams & suspensions
Important:
If you have more than one water-based serum, you can apply based on the priority of your concern (the product that targets the most important concern should go first).
Use a "patting" application method, as opposed to "rubbing."
Always apply sunscreen when you are exposed to the sun!!
Some products can have a foaming effect upon application depending on the other products you are using in your regimen. The foaming should not last longer than a few seconds and both should not remain sticky once absorbed into the skin. (Video: ruclips.net/video/r04W7rQV1R0/видео.html)
"Pilling" (snakeskin, shedding) can occur due to too much product. Your skin can only absorb a certain amount of product, and any excess will be left on top of the skin so that when the next product is being applied, it rubs off. (Video: ruclips.net/video/l_C7HtO826A/видео.html)
If you wish to incorporate multiple Vitamin C's, Retinoids, and/or Direct Acids into your skincare regimen, it's suggested using them on alternate evenings and waiting until your skin has adjusted to one before introducing another.
Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% cannot be used alongside any pure or ethylated forms of Vitamin C.
Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% can only be used alongside Vitamin C derivatives:
- Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12%
- Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate Solution 20% in Vitamin F
- Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate 10%

Since you have dry skin, I highly recommend getting a suitable moisturizer that suits your needs. I can not recommend one since this is very individual you have to test them and see if they work well for your skin.
Thank you Melissa!!
🙂
Can i ask u a question?what is a water based cleanser and can you give an example tq❤I'm new to double cleansing
"Water-based cleansers can take many forms, including foam or gel (but we'll get to those later). Basically, you'll know a water-based cleanser by the first ingredient on the label: water. Great for all skin types, these cleansers focus on getting rid of dirt, sweat, and other impurities"
Well, you do not need to double cleanse unless you wear lots of makeup or a very stubborn sunscreen. But if you have an excellent cleanser it will remove everything in one go. But also the Influencer makeup is really stubborn, so you may need something stronger ☺️

And no, it isn't true. You can use it daily if needed. Twice a day may be a bit too much and can lead to irritation if your skin is sensitive. So you need to adjust it.

Just leave it on until the morning and rinse it off with water or your regular cleanser. If you use it during the day, you can leave it on until the evening. (Or when you wash your face for the next time) If you need to wash your face more often during the day, wait at least 1 hour before removing it.

Thank you 😊
Hey! sorry for asking, but English isn’t my first language! does this mean that I can’t use the CeraVe SA smoothing Cleanser and after that the buffet serum? Have a nice day!
Hello, I assume that you mean before. But you can use it before since you are washing it off, so no need to worry :)
hi mellisa :>
im new to the ordinary and i watched tons of your vids to help me out. i wonder if i get it correcly tho so heres my routine
am : hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, buffet,
pm 1 : hyaluronic acid, retinol 0.5%, buffet
pm 2 : hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, ascorbic glucoside
and i also use aha bha peeling solution once a week which is
aha hba peeling solution, toner with no peptide or acid, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and i finish it off w a moisturiser
and im wondering if i should use my moisturiser everytime i finish applying my serum?
thank you so much for your help :>>
Hello Daya,
Like this:
am : hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, buffet,
pm 1 : hyaluronic acid, buffet, retinol 0.5%
pm 2 : hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, ascorbic glucoside
And with the peel, yes, that should work. Still, from my experience, it is best to keep it very simple after the peel; use your moisturizer only. (or hydrating products such as Hyaluronic Acid, Amino Acids, Marine Hyaluronics)
And for the serums, it depends; if you feel that it isn't hydrating enough, add the moisturizer as the last step. Just test it 😉
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial thank you for your kind replyyy :>
Hi
are these good routines?
AM:
CeraVe Hydrating cleanser
Hyaluronic acid
Buffet
Niacinamide + zinc
CeraVe moisturizing lotion
Purito spf 50
PM:
CeraVe SA smoothing cleanser
Buffet
Niacinamide + zinc
CeraVe moisturizing lotion
Is it ok to use Buffet after the SA cleanser if buffet doesn't react well with salicylic acid?
Hey! Your routine looks great😊
However, you may want to create two different routines and not repeating the AM routine in the PM as well, this way you'll skin has a chance to adjust + targeting more than one concern in a day and not using too much of each product.
For example like this:
AM Routine:
- Cleanse (Hydrating)
- Hyaluronic Acid
- Buffet
- Moisturiser
- SPF
PM Routine:
- Cleanse (SA)
- Hyaluronic Acid
- Niacinamide
- Moisturiser
Hope that this helps😊
hiii I want to ask after I apply the hyaluronic acid 2% + B5, can I finished it with just a moisturizer after if I'm new into skincare? or do I need to add other products into the routine?
Yeah, that's fine! :)
Well, what you include in your skincare routine depends on your skin concerns. However, if you just want to hydrate it and keep it simple, that's a good routine :)
Hey again Would this be a good routine
AM: Neutrogena hydro boost cleaner water gel
Vitamin C brightening eye gel
The ordinary hyaluronic acid 2% + B5
2% BHA LIQUID exfoliant paulas choice
CeraVe moisturise lotion SPF 25
PM:
Same cleanser
Eye gel vitamin C
1% retinol treatment paulas choice
CeraVe moisturiser SPF 25?
Would this be ok or anything I could change ?
Thank you so much for all your tips 🙏💜
Hey :)
Have a look at the other reply!
Hey! :)
What are your skin concerns?
Have you already been using those products? If so, what's your routine?
What strength of Retinol do you use?
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial i have oily skin and I have acne prone skin but when I started using the ordinary niacinamide and azelaic acid i have minimal acne already.
For morning routine i use a toner then niacinamide then azelaic acid then sunscreen
For the evening routine I use toner then niacinamide then 0.2% retinol ☺️☺️
Ok great! :)
You can use Hyaluronic Acid after your toner in the AM and/or PM.
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial thank you so much for replying ♥️♥️ I always watch your vids before purchasing a new skin care. Thank you so much! ♥️☺️☺️
