- Testing the new poly motor mounts from Z1 motorsports. Although reviewed on my 350z, results should be the same for the Q50, G37 and 370z as well.

The shop might be able to adjust the motor mounts height. I thought those were adjustable. Maybe the source of that vibration is the plenum getting in contact with the hood. I would try that before cutting up the hood.
The mounts can be adjusted slightly, but I'm not sure it's worth the effort. The vibration is definitely from the additional rigidity. It's only felt at idle and I don't think it's touching the hood at that point. A bit more investigation is needed!
The z1 event in September on the track i think its at road Atlanta no track experience needed im gonna try and go
You definitely should! I’d love to but I can’t get done there by Friday morning. I will be at the main event Saturday though at the building.
My car jerks slightly forward when shift to Drive only. Do you think it's the bad mounts?
Could be yes.
Do you think the motor mounts are worth it? I was thinking about getting it but the solid ones. However seeing how much the poly mounts vibrate I can only imagine the solid ones 😅
That is what this video is about lol. Yes they are worth it. I would not get solid mounts. Their benefit over the poly mounts are limited.
Hey Jay, ik this is kind of selfish but i was wondering if u could possibly do a quick vid or picture of how the rear 275 tires on ur q50 would look mounted on the front. I really want to run a squared setup with ur q50's rears all around because im awd and i dig the absolute perfect fitment in the rear of the Q and i wanted the same fitment in the front. U dont have to go out of ur way to do it and Ik it might rub depending on the chamber but if possible, could u do it? thank youu
It’s hard to get fitment like that up front because the wheels have to turn. I couldn’t fit a 275 on the front - no camber adjustments-so they would crush the fender
@@SpeedCultureStudiosTy for the reply, After thinking about it, thats very true. I was feeling around the front fender and it seems the rear fenders is rolled from factory but the front isnt. With that in mind would u think itll be possible to go with a 265 in the front? 275s r perfectly vertical on a 9.5 width wheel and i believe having a 265 width will give it enough stretch to clear the front fender edges. what r your thoughts sir bcuz ik u run a 255 in the front but idk how much space u have between the tires and the fender. Mind you im going to get a 35 series side wall hoping itll help clear the 265s. Im risking it for the biscuit for fitment in the front, i got ocd ab it. i keep replaying ur reels ab the fitment on ur car thinking about this, but i jus cant see a perfectly detailed pic ab exactly how much space u have in the front.
youve convinced me to do the same 4 part combo on my drift car! thanks!
Well worth it on a drift car!
You know that there are front strut tower bar spacers for clearance for when you install a plenum spacer so that you can still retain that strut tower bar.
They come with the spacer-I’m not sure if you saw the video but the engine hits the hood. There’s no way the strut bar would fit now
@@SpeedCultureStudios my bad, I did skip through it and missed it. I went back and saw it now. Thankfully I have a different intake manifold setup so I didn’t run into clearance issues, even with the strut tower bar.
Most likely the engine mounts just needs an adjustment or the poly just needs to settle in, hopefully something works out 👍
@@benny6712 I think it’ll get better as the poly softens but I think I’d need to adjust them if I want to put the brace back on. It’s probably fine without it but we’ll see
@@SpeedCultureStudios ya the 350Z chassis is already very ridged, but the more help the better. All on your time tho and whatever you decide.
Keep up the good work on that 350Z 🤙
@@benny6712 I appreciate you checking in!
Thanks dude
From what I know of engine and motor mounts, and isolation mounts rubber is better. There are inherent disadvantages to poly.
It depends on what you mean by “better.” There are inherent disadvantages to rubber, which is why poly and solid mounts are considered better/upgrades in Motorsport applications.
Rubber mount are better for daily driving comfort and preventing NVH. Now if your building a track car NVH shouldn’t matter if you are wanting better response with poly and solid mounts.
@@benny6712 even with poly the nVH is minimal. Like I showed in the video-only minimal vibration at idle. There is no additional noise or harshness in ride at all. If you drive a family sedan and have no need for improved performance, then it wouldn’t be worth the upgrade, but if you like to have a little fun in your daily, I don’t see why not.
@@SpeedCultureStudios Yup, I know because I also own a 2003 350Z Track Edition and I’ve already had my Z1 poly engine mounts installed along with the Z1 headers and poly trans mount back in May 2021 and I do not have any rattling issues.
🤷♂️ it could be from your door cards if they are the metal ones because I still have my OEMs on. I need door cards because my driver side bucket seat bolster is pressing against it, but it’s minor.
@@benny6712 I’m not talking about the rattling. That’s from the wires behind the panels. I’m talking about the actual vibration
Also anytime u wanna come up to the dragon hit me up ill meet up with you
Awesome! I’d love to get up there late summer early fall. That’s my goal.
I got quoted 4k for an install for these on my 14 q50 by z1
No way. That’s extremely high
@@SpeedCultureStudios Exactly. I'm trying to find another shop right now
Did mine in 3 hours by myself.
The hardest part was lowering the motor back on the frame and lining up the holes on the bottom mount stud .
All you need is a 14 mm socket wrench, 17 mm socket, wooden board for the oil pan, thread sealant and a jack. I bought the solid mounts as well.

@@ThorOdinson-zc2kq Well said, Thanks bro
Don't mess with the structure of your hood by cutting stuff out.
Dont tell him what to do 😂
Cutting a small 2" x 2" notch out will not hurt anything.
The z1 motor mounts are hieght adjustable
Yes there is some adjustability
@@SpeedCultureStudios would yhe mounts keep you from chilling in your car with the engine idling. Or are the vibrations okay?
@@blankfaceman9694 vibration is not bad at all.
@@SpeedCultureStudios thanks bro imma get them 😎
