    The singing here was much more on pitch and seemed to include women voices with the drummers. That as a person in music I enjoyed alot 😌 very nice on the ears

    Is this a war dance? What did the Wampanoag call this dance? And, was it danced before a battle, or a hunt? Thanks.

    • @kairishahad
      @kairishahad 5 лет назад +3

      @@thedorku9500 Eastern war dance is very much traditional, and to KJ's question--yes it's based on war. Asking "was it done" implies that the dance today is somehow different from the one danced by our ancestors, which only works to reaffirm the myth of the extinct Indian. To the other point on music; all powwow music with few exceptions are either northern or southern style songs. You'll find these types of songs all over turtle island, and it doesn't somehow negate the traditionalism of the dance. (Some exceptions are regional styles, as in the Dine or Haudenosaunee social songs)

      @@kairishahad Yeah, drums are ubiquitous. If you want to start talking major differences, you have to go to see the Aztec with their wooden drums and death whistles.
