      Yeah people on sea of thieves freak out over nothing, and sometimes I even freak out over nothing, but in this case I don’t think it’s the end of the world

    Biggest concern I only have is I’m worried for the technical side of the game. Can’t even imagine the bugs that may come with this stuff. If the game can’t even work during a community weekend and season launch I’m not very hopeful for all this new stuff that will more than likely cook the spaghetti code

      Think that's why they've got a new team that specifically focuses on bugs instead of having everyone on the same to work on the content and then work on fixing bugs after the public release of their content.
      At the end of the day, we'll find out when they release it, but I'm sure they have a plan, and out of anyone, they would know the most about the possible bugs and problems to encounter

    People "sea of thieves is dying they have done nothing to shake up the sandbox"
    Sea of thieves "sends the sandbox through an earthquake (over the course of 3 seasons)"
    Those same people "don't change combat its gonna ruin the meta and solo slooping"

    Maybe making harpoon shots slower and with gravity like the throwable ones would make it more difficult to invade boats but still possible

    Hourglass on brig and galleon will be super annoying, if the harpoon gun makes it into the game as it is currently, because good players will be able to deckshot 8/10 times. It doesn't matter that you have no second weapon, if you manage to drop the anchor. Even if the other crew kills you and gets it back up, they will be at a huge disadvantage.
    So my biggest concern is that hourglass will only consist of people boarding each other with both boats anchored constantly. It would be ten times worse than fighting a skelly galleon with anchor balls.

      Yeah but if you play it right you can catch anchor and if they use a blunderbuss (in my opinion the best weapon to pair with it) just snipe them and if your skilled at dealing with normal boarder it is no different but without ladder camping and decent luck with hit reg and awareness they will rarely get anchor. I can see how it would be annoying but the can't spawn camp or kill many player before they die so it just seems like an unskilled players way to get easier boards

    I'm not making any assumptions about the spear gun until s14 is closer. They said themselves the s14 ideas and footage are really early ideas-wise. I wouldn't be surprised if the grapple is majorly changed or scrapped whether people say anything about it or not.

    If they made it to where you gotta reel yourself in slowly, like how it does on rowboats, then it can be countered and will be better. But how it was shown, it will definetly make it boarder spam

    I think a minor stun after harpooning to a ship would be a good balance to prevent boarding with it being absolutely OP and still have other means of boarding be powerful.

      A stun after hitting the deck of a ship with the harpoon gun would be perfect. It would make it so you can't just randomly deck shot onto people's boats because then you would be exposed. You would have to think more strategically about your use of the harpoon gun.

    They could make the harpoon gun have a short delay where you cant move after you harpoon onto an opposing ship, much like a failed sword dash

    taking a weapon slot is a huge draw back. only having a single gun and so actually have to reload before you can kill someone and being unable to block, or only a sword/knife missing the huge instant damage of the guns. It'll be fine, you get on the ship easier, but the fight on the ship is harder cause you only have one weapon

      Game has literally been unplayable for me since the last update, and support has no solutions. Most players with MS store version are having the same problems. Kinda hard to get behind the game when it wont even run

      @@LuckyOwI777 If you genuinely believe it will improve the game you are low IQ, they have said the exact same thing about a ''team'' working on hitreg, and it hasn't improved in the last 5 years among other things the game suffers from.
      GDK update did NOTHING in terms of stability. When it was touted as being a new system to ''vastly improve the games performance'' , instead Xbox/Microsoft players got hit with a 200gb update in the span of 2 weeks.
      I find it REALLY sad that they manage to convince fools like yourselves to keep believing the pipe dream.

    People were worrying about the harpoon gun, and boarders. But then again, if they make it loud and clearly visible to balance it, it should make it better. Also, it does take up a weapon slot and there will be the windcaller as a counter as well.

    it's worth mentioning that the harpoon gun is pretty much the only "revealed" feature of season 14, which is based on "mischief" and all, so i won't dish out any balance judgment until everything's revealed

    i feel like some kind of "charge up" (like the sword) with the harpoon gun would be nice, without charging up, the harpoon will have heavy gravity and not go as far, but in exchange they wont be stunned but its the opposite when you charge it up, you will gain range and in exchange you will get stunned for a split second or two (like the sword)

    You mentioned sloops have advantage against wind but you forgot to mention the new wind tool will take that advantage away

      I.e how can I steer the boat and use the wind tool at the same time to evade? short of growing another pair of arms out my arse to play on another controller at the same time. So it is not really a moot point

      @adambomb176 you don't need to steer the ship? Just angle the wheel so it counteracts the waves, or you don't even have to do that if you're sailing north-east/south-west. It's not an disadvantage to the Sloop if you can use it too. They also have 2-3 sails, you have 1??

      @AShinyRay not to mention that if they are having issues with other crews and don't want that engagement, you can opt to play on safer seas or don't use an emissary flag. Regardless I think the board heavy method will be a thing but knowing the other player is at a disadvantage the first place they are going to go for is the weapon cabinets you can hold them there. I imagine people will just run around and try to 1 blunder people

    Rare like 2 seasons ago: “no boarding using harpoons in rough seas, it’s an unfair skill gap”. Rare now: “everyone can board anywhere! No skill required! Huh? This is going to absolutely suck for solo slooping. It’s already significantly more difficult for solo sloop… forget the speed disadvantages the sloop has too. Already can’t get away from a brig in any wind. I’m worried. I want to be excited, but this seems contradictory to previously established ideas by Rare.

    I think the traps being introduced will also make the harpoon gun a little risky if u can place traps anywhere on a ship even on the rigging of the sails maybe. I really feel that with the large chunk of new tools coming that itll create a lateral movement of the skill ceiling rather than a downgrade or upgrade kinda how chainshot did. They'll be new up until people have had time to learn how to counter em then itll just be another strand in muscle memory to react to.
    I think if ya gotta add more to nerf the harpoon gun then the charge shot idea I've seen in the comments is good enough, longer charge = longer distance up to a certain threshhold and vice versa.
    I still think it's a good idea to shake up the coordination and tactics for the 6 to 10yr period of the game.

    I play solo or duo sloop almost exclusively, and even though we're great at boarding, making it easier would be great for us, cuz it's the only way to efficiently deal with larger crews. I love getting boarded cuz it adds something to do, versus chasing a ship for over an hour. It honestly sucks being a sloop and not being able to get on or fight a brigantine with cannons because they chose to run away. I can't count how many times we've been in harpoon range but able to do nothing cuz they refuse to board us and we can't get on to them. Also I love fighting up close cuz there is a massive amount of skill involved in it, and as for hit reg, they promised to get a whole bunch of new people to fix it

    I think the balance for the harpoon gun combat wise it that it should do somewhere between 20-30 damage, but had a very long reload. Boarding wise, I think would be better if momentum was accounted for, because in the reveal trailer all speed from the canon launch was deleted when the harpoon hit the ship. I do think the downside of it taking a weapon slot while being a tool is a cool idea though.

    If the grapple takes a weapon slot then I think it’s fine. Majority of double gunners aren’t gonna want to get rid of their second weapon for the grapple. I see this as a massive win. Plus people seem to forget about the ladder boosting that’s still in the game, which IS broken

      Majority of double gunners that are left are here for fun, not 'i use two guns im so cool' and sword is just not fun in its current state. But add the grapple as a movement ability and I would happily use a sword because i like movement

      The thing is the double gunners are gonna run grapple with double barrel flintlock. Its gonna make the game easier for them and harder for the poor solo sloop noob (me) who cant get a win im hourglass due to this.

    my idea for harpoon gun is that when you catch something like ship or rock on island you pull yourself to it slowly instead of pulling 100Gs. In this clip where dev pulls himself to board the ship he would just swing around it. this also makes it super cool if you are near other ship, and catch its mast and swing above water to board instead of basically teleporting.
    This makes harpoon gun more like classic grapling gun, and rises skill required to use it

      Yeah allowing you to swing around would be sick as long as it is still powerful enough ti lift you up. Have it work like it does in THE FINALS

    As a tool: it is an incredibly fun idea. Being able to zip around is a great and powerful mobility tool and for boarding allows more dynamic attempts. Granted however player combat needs to be seriously looked into and revised, it is currently far to clunky and really doesn't reward skill really...just knowing how to abuse the system. I feel rare expect there to be a sort of natural "mix-up" game between normal swings and charged attacks vs. blocking but sadly lacks because...well...the game doesn't seem to convey position very well and a lot of mechanics just don't feel good. This needs tightened up and I think rare for season 14 need to consider making player to player combat a key focus if they want to give us such a tool. Possibly looking at changing fundamental ideas of how it works currently.
    However in terms of balance, I feel it does have serious downsides, especially if they update ships so that you cannot interact with the weapon locker while on board a non-allied ship. You now need to make your peace with easier boarding by only having 1 real weapon as I would imagine this tool being that, a tool and not a weapon that can deal damage. I can see possibly giving it a bonus to quick swapping if you grapple a player but then that could just lead to grapple blunder and that isn't fun (though maybe the quick-swap bonus is only for sword or pistol?). This loss of a weapon does mean your boarding will be focused less on killing and more on causing problems, anchoring the ship and trying to run disruption, not killing. Paired with the new throwable skeleton bomb, this could be a thing.
    We'll see how it shakes out. Never know, could be a mountain out of a mole-hill or will be the worst thing since adding a commendation for something that jut doesn't exist...what is this shrouded ghost thing? Sounds like nonsense to me!

    I think an easy way to balance it would be to have sort of limited access to the armory on enemy ships. But they also are adding other tools in season 14 like deployable traps, so that will make boarding more challenging as well.

    As someone who prefers solo slooping (mainly because I just prefer to do my own thing), I'd definitely main a harpoon gun, but purely for the traversal aspect. If I have to sacrifice a weapon slot for it... I think that's fine personally, because we'll have those rather versatile looking Throwing Knives as well, which I think will be a good weapon to potentially pair with it. There's also combining it with the blunderbuss for some guaranteed heavy damage (which is sometimes done already using the ship mounted harpoon guns)... quite a few possibilities really.
    That all said, I probably wouldn't use it in a fight though... not that I would care to do so, given I've got about three or so years of rust to work off... having only recently returned to the seas (and even if I wasn't rusty, I've always tried to be a friendly/neutral party with other ships because I'm not foolish enough to engage knowing the numbers are likely against me).

    I was pretty upset when I saw the Harpoon Gun in the season 14 preview, but I agree with most of what you're saying. I love the idea of limiting it to the masts, maybe even just the cross beams of the mast. I have been working to improve my deck shots the last couple years, and being able to grapple easily on any point of the ship would make all my efforts worthless. But I appreciate that they are shaking up the meta regardless, its about damn tome

    My biggest concern is the double barrel pistol as it might make the flintlock obsolete however it looks like it has a smaller barrel and we can't really say anything till we all use it

    I like the idea of the grapple in particular as a traversal tool.
    I'm not thrilled by it as an easy mode boarding tool where they just have to get vaguely near my ship to board instead of landing on directly on my deck, mast or close enough to get on the ladder.

    My hope is that the harpoon gun has a shorter range for hitting ships then islands, or like you said only able to hit masts. Those maneuvers on Plunder Valley were insane and I do not want my ship being boarded from 5 miles away. Also not as much of a concern but as a flex/boarder main I do not look forward to the traps being added.

      The traps might be necessary if the harpoon gun is too good. Rare is adding 3 new ways to board ships. It mainly makes sense they would also add a defensive tactic

    its funny how immediately after the preview event the games servers start functioning worse than ive ever seen them before, trying to dive for hourglass spending an hour for 1 match just for your game to crash as you join, g&g should have been extended to compensate

    Im torn. We already have walking on (ship based) harpoon lines, stealth mechanics and wall hanging/climbing mechanics coming as well, all related tools for boarding in one form or another. The portable harpoon gun DOES seem meta breaking, and utter death for the solo sloop in particular. they also mentioned we'll be getting things like bear traps you can place to incapacitate boarders, but what real use will they be when the harpoon gun allows you to basically board from anywhere. It sounds fun, and powerful, but the downsides are pretty stark.

    Lower the ammo count to 2 shots, 1 loaded and 1 spare. Make the reload very long as well. Make it so you can pick up the harpoons like they’re going to do with the Throwing Knives. At least, this is how I’d do it. For utility on islands it’s not too restrictive like this, as ammo chests aren’t rare and neither are ammo bags dropped by enemies. If a player is skilled, they can aim for areas where harpoon retrieval is easier.
    The harpoon will limit boarders, as they tend to double gun over most players. So they either embrace sword meta, or perhaps the throwing knives. A decent harpoon user could also use the harpoon to their advantage for melee. Pulling players to them, or themselves to players. Honestly, long as the harpoon isn’t given five shots like a normal gun, I think that will be the major balancer. It becomes a great offensive tool for melee players, but double gunners will still have the advantage and remain the meta in a competitive sense. With the Double Pistol on the way I feel like a new 2 gun meta is about to arise.

    I like to think some of this will refresh servers with some new pirates.
    I get visited by all manners of players as guy who likes to fish on one of devil roar islands.
    So seeing fresh people passby and hand fish too is going to be fun.

    why not just make it an item like the disney stick? Maybe it could be reloaded but by now, you'll just can't run with it or shoot out of the cannon. Very good and fun for islands, kinda balanced for boarding

    50% of any fight regardless if its a galeon or solo sloop is repeling boarders. harpoon onto the ship -> oneblunder someone -> switch sniper to harpoon -> profit... so far from what was shown this will make defending from boarders impossible. it should only work as a "portable harpoon" pulling stuff and players thorwards you. that would make for a great "trick-shots" like puling ladder-guard into the water. going up the ladder takes like 3 seconds and (in theory) makes a sound -> boarding axe would allow to get on board at ANY apot in the same ammount time while making chopping sound = enabling crew to defend... also axe mele weapon :P

    Essentially if all 4 pirates in a gally crew decide to board a solo slooper using the harpoon-sniper there nothing the solo can do to guard/prevent them from boarding allowing the gally crew to easily overpower smaller crews significantly easier than before, fairly sure this will for sure break the balance the game currently has in terms of differing crew sizes👀

    I think the simple counter to the seemingly easier boarding technique will be making the noise of the harpoon gun hitting your ship a little bit louder or more unique so a player on the ship can know if they are paying attention, similar to how you can hear someone getting onto a ladder for a board if you are paying attention. Just makes it another thing you have to keep an ear open for.

    When boarding an enemy boat, you shouldn't instant teleport with the grapple gun. You should reel yourself in like a fishing rod with an audio que to alert enemy crew. It should be able to teleport on island geometry

    I enjoy majority of these new tools for the game, I can however see the harpoon gun being annoying for a taking up a slot aswell as boarding is being 100% free but aswell as it's just a sniper reskin with a spear coming out
    one thing I would like to see however is quick swapping with the harpoon to another weapon like the blunderbus (yes im aware on how op that would be)
    another thing is the scattershot, would be incedibly frustrating to deal with as a bilge but other than that it seems like a neat item and spamming skeletons on enemy boats will get old pretty soon
    other than that looks decent and smthing to look forward to that isn't just QoL for the hundreth time or bare minimum content

    I think it would be great to have the grapple hook as a consumable, similar to a blunder bomb that you can load into a normal sniper rifle. Other than that, i love the new changes that are coming! I'm surprised no one is talking about walking along harpoon lines for boarding however.

    The only thing i wanna know is if the burning blade after being captured will lock out other world events.
    For example: will skelly forts, fleets. etc still spawn if there is a player ran burning blade roaming about or will they not spawn at all?

    going to be honest, my biggest issue i have with this upcoming update is the 4 crew reapers spamming that cursed skeleie ball on single player sloopers. I mean i know this is common thing for reapers to chase single players under normal circumstances (either cause they bored and just want to bully single players off the server by constantly attacking them or just looking for an easy numbers based victory to make them feel good about themselves) but i can honestly see them using this thing to push this annoyance even further by just spamming this cursed ball thing on a single player. i mean imagine it, single player see's 4 reaper crew ship coming for them, they panic and run like hell but then rng strikes and sloop gets with either firing range or boarding range, then these reapers just start spamming hell out of the cursed ball to spawn skeleies on deck, now that poor bugger is not fighting a 4 on 1 situation they are potential fighting a 10 on 1 situation. it might just be me on this one but i feel like that's a bit of an issue that could be abused big time by this type of players.

    The balancing feels off now. Solo slooping is gonna be a nightmare now especially in hourglass. Imagine, you got your mast down, you're trying to bail, repair and put pressur eon the enemy ship and they're not only sending skeletons over but spamming scattershots that not only put small holes in your ship but can actually deal damage to players (dont believe me? Watch the recent season 12 video they posted and listen carefully when you see the clip of them shooting scattershots at the galleon. It goes over the cannons and you hear the killed player sound) So youll have to fight skeletons to avoid dying so your ship doesnt sink and constantly repairing holes. The harpoon gun is gonna make boarding easy. The harpoon will make it easier for crews to board. Also if someone has the throwing knife and sneaks up behind you at the helm or while youre repairing and you dont know they're there they can do the backstab and kill you instantly. That wind blowing thing (forgot its name) will make chasers able to catch up to you easily so now its nearly impossible to run away with loot you dont want to lose, can blow you off if you board and so on
    I think its going to be the end of solo slooping

    The windcaller is a greater threat to solo sloop than anything in the update, sailing into the wind is no longer going to save the sloop when the galleon/brig only has to wind call.

    Maybe for the harpoon gun they should make it to where once you shoot it you have to slowly pull yourself towards the object rather than zipping straight to it. Allowing more time for players to cut your rope if you’re pulling yourself through the water to a boat or up a ledge

    Personally I am looking foreward to this addition. If I had to suggest how it could be balanced, I would say either limit its ammo to at most 3 before having to refill, OR have its ammo be looted from barrels like bombs.
    another change that i fully expect to happen is the final version will not have a scope like the eye of reach, making aiming the thing more like aiming the harpoons on boats.

    I'm worried because i mainly play solo. Hourglass is gonna be miserable with the harpoon gun especially on controller vs pc. I want to get the skeleton curse and boarding is going to wreck my stuff. I really hope this weapon doesnt make hourglass too hard. Fingers crossed.

    I think a way to combat this is to make it only have 2 shots, make the hitbox relatively small, make the player time the jump rather than have it happen automatically at the end, and remove the ability to grab players entirely. This would play a bit more into skill expression, and I can only imagine how frustrating it will be as a solo or even a duo sloop to constantly be grappled off of my ship

    The grappler gun did worry me at first. But if it’s taking a weapon slot, I don’t think it will be to much of a problem. Look I have played sea of thives for a while now, and if there is one thing I know about borders is they are creatures of habit. They do not learn from their mistakes and they know nothing but the doubble gun. This will only help them get on the ship faster. Now depending on this doubble berril pistol and throwing knife, that might be a different story if the border has more then one active brain cell

    the only concern i really had when seeing this gun is some of the solo hourglass fights that i have. the other player just runs with their ship and constantly tries to board to tdm the crap out of me. I usually win those fights but trying to catch up with them as well as make sure that they dont board is just annoying and time consuming and im concerned that this weapon will make it worse. otherwise i see a lot of potential for it

    Instead of a grapplehook gun, they should've just introduced a straight-up hook and rope that you have to throw with limited range, drop, and when you land the hook, you have to slowly climb up tge line and onto the vessel. There could also add the ability to tie a grapplehook to something to make a zipline or hook a ship and tie it to a railing with your enemies having to sever the line to escape. You could also have a swinging mechanic where you could throw the hook onto a mast beam and swing onto an enemy ship. And I know Rare will never do this, but with the addition of these grapplehooks and line walking, they should get rid of mechanics like sword-skimming and shooting yourself out of a cannon. While unique to the game for years, boarding has been too easy. Anytime I played the game, I was rarely ever taken down with cannons or anything on a ship. I was usually just boarded and killed without even loading a cannonball or anything. I just want a more grounded pirate game, but with the mediocrity of Skull and Bones, I'm afraid the only place I can have any pirate fun is SoT. I'll probably just stick to PvE servers.

    Honestly i like the new additions i think they coukd use some minor tweaks, but overall it seems ok
    I do kinda feel like the knife abd grappling hook should be nire slong the lines of a permanent addition to our tool kit rather than a weapon slot, but it still seems fair enough to me
    Honestly my biggest concern is with how the knife functions. Like i understand the idea of "you can throw it and you impact it returns to your inventory and if you miss you have ti retrieve it... The thing that confuses me is if someone can grab it and throw it back what happensto THEIR wealons slots? It kinda feels like the knife should functionally be like a bash/jab mechanic that has the ability to be thrown out of yuur inventory rather than a weapon slot, especially since they are gonna be adding more mechanical changes to rge game, id be cool of the knife was just a basic melee jab that could function ad a gun bash when holding 2 handed guns and a knife slash when holding a pistol or sword.
    I think the only thing that bugs me i that I feel like theeres gonna be alot if weapon rotation bugs if the knife temporarily replaces a weapon if you pick up an enemies knife but cant drop it or switch back to your other weapons

    Something Rare could do is add metal components to ships where a harpoon can’t lock into, making it easier for solo players to deal with, but I’m not sure if that’s what they would want to do, and I’m not sure I’d want them to do that, it’s just one idea I thought of while watching the video.

    I don't think they're unfounded, and the concerns should be considered during development. But I also think that people are underestimating how much you're sacrificing by entirely removing one of your combat options. I also think that scattershot and skeleton bombs are going to help out naval combat a lot. I don't know if it'll be enough to balance out boarding meta with the harpoon gun on the horizon, but they're definitely not something to discount entirely

    I don't really think the harpoon gun is an issue, my only worries are how spammable are Bone Callers going to be, and how unstable is that sort of item going to make the game? The rest looks like fun to mess around with, and we've needed a tool that lets billy hill themed chase scenes less painful. The harpoon gun looks like fun, and either making it take a weapon slot or being a tool, folks are going to have their fun.

    I'd love a way to board without having to play whack-a-mole with other players. The ladder guarding always frustrated me the most out of everything there is. I feel stupid having to juke blunderbuss shots and re-grabbing. I even sometimes allow hostile boarders to climb up just so that I can fight them instead of just knocking them off. I don't mind losing one of my weapons either. I went against the meta in arena fighting with sword and pistol. The vast majority of my kills were with sword anyways and having a way to get those cowardly double gunners close is an advantage rather than a hindarance.

    I think the harpoon could be balanced by nerfing the sidearm in some way. Guns would have their ammo reduced (either down to 3 or even 2) which would make you extremely vurnerable if you board and aren't a good shot. The sword could either swing slower (something something the weight of the harpoon makes it harder to swing?) or deal less damage.
    By nerfing the sidearms you make it so that the harpoon can still be used to board- however your offensive capabilities are significantly reduced and you end up being more of an annoying fly than the usual threat.

    The Harpoon gun will make boarding a lot easier. However those who choose to board with the harpoon gun will be left with decreased ways of defending themselves/apply pressure.
    Don't get me wrong, the harpoon gun will be terrifying in the right hands, but id like to think it won't be as overpowered as its made out to be.
    On another note, the harpoon gun looks like it will be tons of fun.

    As a terrible player who has never laneded a deck shot in my life, and who has been shot point plank over a hundred times trying to climb a ladder to board a ship. I am very excited for the harpoon gun, even if it takes up a weapon slot it seems a lot more balanced than people seem to believe. Boarding has always been the most fun aspect of the game pvp wise, so to give players a tool and no longer essentially force them to use ladders is very nice. I am very excited for the harpoon gun.

    Just make it so that you can't swap weapons on another crews armoury. Then whoever harpoons over will be stuck with 1 weapon once they've boarded making everybody using the harpoon to board a much less threatening attacker

    I’m not really worried about the harpoon gun. However I am worried about the wind conch shell. As a solo slooper I’m worried my one advantage will be made null and void with the item. I think it is worrying as well I basically always play solo not out of choice but more of necessity. But the idea an item will make the advantage of the sloop useless is not a good idea. A galleon can now easily catch up and I think it is not good as running is a sloops one advantage.

    Honestly I was more concerned about the double flintlock. If someone double guns with that it gives them 3 shots to use which greatly reduces ranged kill time. As someone who like to play this like a pirate game and not CoD on the ocean, the harpoon/tightrope/zipline stuff excited the hell outta me. Finally some rope swinging action to make the game feel like a high sea gambit with even more fun ways to board!

    Even playing a lot of solo I don't think this is gonna cause much issue, only having one weapon is a fine trade off for easier boarding and I'm honestly more excited to use the pulling players with sword for some fun. I'm not even sure the infamous TDM crews using this will be much of a problem, all of them are too reliant on double gunning.

    Grapple will be hard counterd by shooting them with a blunder as they are coming down from the air. If you cant do that you would loose anyway. And also yeah it takes up a weapon slot. I don't think it should be mast only because then no one would use it

    I’m looking forward to it, because I suck at boarding, naval combat, and hand to hand combat. With this I can just suck at hand-to-hand combat, and everyone’s time can be better spent!
    In all seriousness, I see this as being along the lines of something like Safer Seas. This isn’t going to get rid of bad players, it’ll just shrink the skill gap a bit so everyone can fight on a more balanced playing field. If you suck (like me), you aren’t magically winning suddenly, you just have the ability to learn how to get better through different means.

    I don't think it will change a lot of the skill based part of the game. and as said if it takes up an weapon slot, that just mean it will make it harder to do close combat.. seeing as you only have one weapon. and hitreg is still a thing. so I don't think it will make it too easy to board as people are scared of.
    its like the sword.. yes you can still use it to fight, but an blunderbust will 80% of the time still beat the sword, but what you get with the sword is mobility with sword launch. So I think it be the same with the grablegun. you lose combat things but gain more Mobility.
