The anti cheat did not install automatically with the update and cheaters found their way around it within hours of release

i swear they have rebooted and revamped the story of this game so many times i gave up on keeping up with it forever ago

Exactly, the game has made a turn somewhere along it's lifetime and it was a COMPLETE turn, not only the story, but the visual direction, the overall theme of the game since when the game came out and I'd say all of these things changed like 4-5 times over it's lifespan.
To be honest, I don't mind almost any of these changes... the Story was killed for me with the release of adventures, with the job I had at the time I was sometimes unable to play even for 2-3 weeks and after I had some free time, ofc I had other things to take care of instead of rushing home to my PC and doing that one adventure that won't really give you anything important, but most of the time I didn't even notice there was some adventure since I couldn't play that often.
The visual direction was obviously killed with the emporium and although I don't hate it, I just don't care AT ALL about the clothes, hairstyles or weapon skins.
I have my Umbra tatto, my Gold curse, my trusty afro and glitterbeard-beard.
Yes you might've guessed, I'm that weirdo who just plays the game for completionism :^)
And for that I don't need story, I don't care about the looks, I don't care if you can buy Master Chief or not.
Not so long ago I found out there are books written about the Sea of Thieves, I wonder if some older books are retconned or still canon, either way I think we'd all agree we just want a working game where we can have our fun.
Story never was the main point of it (at least it seems like it to me) so hey, let them try however much they want I suppose :^)

@@emraldxd6797yes, all Microsoft platforms(Xbox and Xbox PC) had a honker update while those on steam only saw 10gigs. The two are different although it’s the same game

I'm crashing so bad now. I even get a bug that locks all the quest. I equip outfit, and it changes to default outfit next game. Unplayable. My PC is more than capable of playing this type of game.

Yes my 2 guild m8s today on Microsoft store version they bought it like 5 years ago and it is really unstable 1 of them disconnected 7 times in a 5 hour session.

keeps crashing for me and my friend multiple times w/o error message if we play for like 2 hours. The performance got worse since the update and we think its because of the anticheat or something. It just closes lol
Every 20 minutes for me too
My experience is the game is performing better in terms of frame rate but crashing in a different way. I used to get hazelnut beard when changing servers after a couple of hours now it's exiting completely every 20 mins or so. Fingers crossed it's sorted soon, i'm starting to feel excited about the game again

Kinda weird, what is the true reaper plan? Why start the burning Blades reconstruction on Shipwreck Bay only to begin moving the ships parts to the reapers hideout? Although I think it makes more sense for the reconstruction to be at reapers since it’s literally Flamehearts stronghold, but now more players will see it and know about it if it’s at the hideout than if it stayed at Shipwreck Bay

Im on series s, mouse works for me, but sometimes the keyboard won't work.. or sometimes my controller stops working. I just relaunch the game after launching Edge, that usually fixes the keyboard not responding.

I don’t mind the ship reskin. I didn’t care for the island hopper set. But I like this new one. Though I do agree, it seems weird to do a recolor. There’s no reason you shouldn’t be able to get a discount on it if you already own the base version
I actually really like the og islehopper set but lately I run the masked renegade sail so this recolor fits in that color scheme perfectly
Question for whoever sees this: if you were in charge of deciding how Sea of Thieves integrates story developments into the world in future updates, how would you do it? Be sure to consider the following restrictions:
-Tall Tales (especially ones like Shores of Gold) tend to be more work than they end up being worth, so unless you can somehow negotiate another major crossover, you'll have to use them very sparingly.
-Due to hardware limitations, new regions are not an option, and adding more islands is going to be a LOT of trouble, so you should try to limit the locations to places that already exist.
Personally, I would love if we had a few limited time events after Flameheart's revival similar to the Sea Fort control battles and the Battle for Golden Sands, and then bring in the Grand Maritime Union as a new threat that forces Reapers and Athenas to form an uneasy alliance to repel them, with all of this being represented in-game by enormous GMU ships loaded with treasure they're trying to carry outside the Shroud and which have enough firepower to make it extremely difficult for a single ship to sink them, thus encouraging ships to form alliances to take them down before they can escape. The uneasy truce between Athenas and Reapers would basically be "We all hate the GMU and we'll work together to stop them, but after sinking their ships, it'll be business as usual", meaning there's not going to be any obligation for crews to peacefully divide the treasure after sinking a GMU ship.
Stopped playing with them adding easy anti cheat. Let me play my story missions without having some rootkit on my pc. Besides the fact that kernel level anti cheats dont even work like they should.
its unbelievably illegal for anti cheats to take your personal info if thats what you are worried about, and they definitely dont do that. The only real issue kernels have is a backdopr vulnerability if they get hacked themselves, but the last time that happened to easy was like 15 years ago. I would recommend Some Ordinary Gamers video on the anticheat in Helldivers 2, he explains it much better than I can here.
When i play sot on my xbos it wont let me play when i am signed into 2 accounts when normally it should, i have to sign out out one of the accounts to actually play the game.
Hopefully my stuttering got fixed, only been able to play on cloud gaming lmao.

The Reapers certainly moved the Figurehead to better protect it after the damage committed by the Pirates at the request of LeChuck, it will certainly be returned once the ship is completed

Why is everyone complaining about the download size? it was only 3 GB for me (on steam)
The crashes only seem to happen on the windows edition. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it through steam and it worked just fine without anymore crashes.

All I want is for the megalodon to attack me instead of this glitch where it only circles my ship for 10 minutes and then run off. AND I would like to actually see the Kraken again. I haven't seen it since the month it was added to the game YEARS ago. If they could only up the Kraken spawning rate then I'll be all set.

Really bummed out with the way they've chosen to handle the end of adventures instead of getting our third climax event that is go. Never mind that last bit. This is how it went instead. Really lame, especially considering. I was really looking forward to the whole temple bit

Meg was representing a rare employee. Who has moved on from the company and so has her likeness in game 🙏🏻
@StaticWhoo its not they they have moved on from the company thats caused it, megs mocap actor at rare is an active player and has actually transitioned, so they've changed the character to represent him better
Well hopefully people don't get too political about this because all that nonsense being pushed into games are causing them to die and be hated ECT and I would hate some mad man thinking well then this and that and boom a building is on fire if the game really wants to survive keep far away from politics and focus on the players or the company will burn as well like so many who bend the knee to a fools game
The fact that they can ban the profile but not the whole account is the main issue here. Easy anti cheat is not a fix that will solve anything at all.

I just got back into the game and honestly it’s amazing compared to what it used to be.
I checked out Galleons Grave Outpost and The trader there is missing. They are replaced by a male merchant named Marley!

That's because the original voice actor transitioned so they rerecorded the voice lines and made it so the character transitioned too
The new rose stuff is just the gilded Phoenix set you can't tell me it's not and they did the same thing with the banjo kazooie set and sunshine parrot set one you buy in emporium one you buy in game same ship colors. It's shitty.

kernal level can be blocked by some hacks and EAC was always apart of the game to my knowledge every time you launched on pc around season 8 or sooner it would say EAC in corner of the games banner they since removed that while ago to sell eac being knew or something just my two cents from seeing it personally

I gotta admit they fixed a few things but i Had to laugh when the First Thing my mate mentioned was 'i cant See my ships name'😂😂😂 i guess they kept 60-70% of what they wanted to Patch. But tbh EAC seem to work kinda Well, Hourglass is actually playable. In fact i was shocked how ez it became, which kinda means there where so much more cheaters than i expected, kinda thoughed its Just pros (as Long as they didnt tp on my ship beeing invisible 😂😂)

Looking forward for the PS release. But ive noticed that the game has battle passes... kinda strange for a game like this imo. But with that being said there certin cosmetics that have come out that can only be obtained threw thoses passes which mean theres like how ever many years of cosmetics PS wont have access to... Im not sure what to make of it.
They slowly trickle cosmetics from past plunder passes to the emporium (where they are purchased with real money) but you're right there's no way around the fact that there's a rich history with this game and a ton of time limited events and items that brand new players won't ever see (non regular players also missed some stuff too so it's okay). In the end there's still plenty of cosmetics available and that's all it is, optional visual items.
The seasonal plunder pass structure works well for this game as it somewhat refreshes the sandbox in the way that if you feel like you've done everything at least you still have some progress to look forward to when there's a new season, or you could ignore it and play it as you see fit since it doesn't alter gameplay in anyway unless you set out to complete "trials". Plus they are quite generous for the free tier and you earn your money back if you complete it all at the paid tier.

there is a lot i don't like about kernel lvl anticheat but i like playing sea of thieves too much
some hacks can block kernal level as well and they exist for Sot

@@minecraftys ik, but I believe that bypasses for kernel lvl (atleast the ones I have heard about) also use kernel lvl, which makes them riskier too use (unless you make your own cheats) because someone who knows how to hack may very well try to hack people who use their client, anyways I don't really care for how good the anticheat is, I like playing sot regardless :)
1. Easy Anticheat can be turned off via taskmanager, making it completely useless (they didn't run any sequences that checked to see if it was running)
2. Stability has gotten WAY worse
3. Multiple bugs that were reported to be fixed not only were not fixed, but some were made even worse.
This patch didn't patch anything, the only things they ACTUALLY fixed were exploits.
