It was amazingly done. The fact that nothing needs to be removed from the shelf while moving the Murphy bed is great too.

    This apartment is beautifully designed, so relaxing and cohesive. It feels practical and easy to move around in, with no serious sacrifices and no space wasted. The roof is a challenging element, but it gives the apartment character. This murphy bed is one of the best I've seen. I would probably have omitted it and had a sofa bed instead, in order to have extra storage space, but I have to admit that it looks much easier to use without making the living space look messy the way the sofa bed would. Excellent work, I'd be happy to live there full time, not just for vacations.

    This was a brilliantly designed space - bright, airy and deceptively spacious. The architect made use of all available areas of the flat to make it look more spacious even with the constraints of the low pitch of the roof. The built-in desk/dining table and the fold-down bed in the living area were well thought out. The fact that he didn't even have to remove the items on the shelf when he was pulling down the fold-down bed just showed how much thought was put into the design. Excellence all around.

    Just reposting:
    @NEVER TOO SMALL
    Could you, please, make an extra episode about small apartments and noise (e. g. how to improve sound absorption, which space-saving measurements help to add some soundproofing)?
    I also would like to know how people cope with living in crowded locations when there are whole families sharing the same ground-plan size above or beneath and there is no extra space/room to avoid the noise of your neighbors.
    I see so many quite minimalist examples on here but the echo and sound absorption must be insanely bad in some of them.

    • @jovanmaric8932
      @jovanmaric8932 3 года назад +13

      Unfortunately, there is no cheap way to soundproof anything to a noticeable measure. Soundproofing, both from outside and inside, is usually done by forcing the sound to be absorbed and diffused in a variety of environments with different acoustic impedance, eg. a layer of concrete, then a layer of air, then a layer of glass wool, then a layer of concrete, then a layer of small rocks, etc. This means that proper soundproofing will a) surely be very expensive, and, more importantly, b) will drastically decrease the already limited space in a tiny home.

    • @YT-GuestAccount
      @YT-GuestAccount 3 года назад +8

      @@jovanmaric8932 Doesn't mean there is no way for improvements. Even small ones might give some peace back, which can matter a lot.

    • @quinosonic82
      @quinosonic82 3 года назад +6

      the 2 critical points for that is upgrading to airtight openings with double/triple glazing (windows/doors are always the weakest point in the envelope) and absorption inside like pillows and cloth (that will reduce reverberance of your own noise and also the neighbor's/exterior). Then, if possible, double the walls, or put wardrobes against them. Floors and ceilings would also make a difference but it is quite impractical to work on them on a budget.

    • @YT-GuestAccount
      @YT-GuestAccount 3 года назад +5

      @@hannahl610 That's a good point. This one also is just a summer house.
      I would love to see those "real life" examples of people who had to manage their places, including rentals, without a generous budget [to hire an architect] and who in fact spend a lot of time in their NTS spaces.

      In my experience it helps that there is rarely central air in these units. Ventilation within walls helps carry sound- honestly I hear my neighbors more in my current apartment (with central air units) than the pre-war building I used to be in. Specifically, I can hear voices and music now when before it would mostly just be occasional thumps and walking (nightclubs outside the window notwithstanding)

    Extraordinary!! Absolutely phenomenal use of space and not cluttered with anything unnecessary but all that’s necessary is there. Simply incredible design and use of space!

    I have been binge watching these Never Too Small videos. The architects are very talented and inspiring me to better develop my living space and workshop. It is getting late and if I had a fold out bed in my space, I'd be making use of it right now!

    Dear NeverTooSmall: I would just love to know what people are paying for these places per month (if they are renting). Would you be able to include that information in future videos?
    Thanksssss

      Late response, but knowing Varazze a rent could be around 700/800€ per month, given the position and some of its comforts.

    I LOVE this one! Comfort over stark style. A lot of the other spaces feel more like art installations than a place to live. This just looks so cosy.

      Well, when you can afford to custom every single piece of furniture in your 50 sqm apartment, I wouldn't call that "do much with less".

    I couldn't live here because it feels to claustrophobic with the ceilings, but my god this is impressive! Decoration is lovely too

    Although I usually find stuff that don't align with my preferences in most of the videos, I absolutely love this one and would definitely love to have it as a winter house to run up to once in a year, cause it definitely has that cozy feeling to it. No word to comment, absolutely love it!
