Yes, it’s great to see the updated workshop. May I suggest Benoit contacts Amaury at Chateau de LaLande regarding the way to use the wood working machine he’s untrained in. I’m sure Amaury would be familiar with it. Also Amaury may have suggestions for his workshop layout to make it super efficient. Also they’re both master craftsmen, I’m sure they would have a lot in common.
And yes, if I make it to France, I’ll drop in to see Benoit.

Great progress on the rooms. Benoit is so gifted, a true master of his craft and needs his own show! Vincent, Anna and Philip are lucky to know him.
I love the traditional style moldings. They are so in keeping with the character and time period. Some of the renderings people offered were lovely, amazing really, but so devoid of any relation to the history and the place as to almost be sterile and could be dropped anywhere. You have a one-of-a-kind French chateau. Good call.
I'm happy the guys can have fun while they are working. They seem to all get along really well.

Benoit’s new machines are amazing - he will be able to continue his beautiful bespoke work safely. You can tell how deeply appreciative he is - making collages of all the people who donated to him. He is a one of a kind. I love watching him on your channel and also on Ian and Daphne’s channel.
My wife immediately spotted me on the second collage at Benoits', lol. So great to see he has the tools he needs and deserves! May he never be injured again!

Anna, all I can think of regarding the ceiling paint that was so easily removed is that it was actually tempera, water soluble but could last for centuries. It makes zero sense to use that on a ceiling unless it’s a fresco but it’s all I got. 🤷♀️

How I enjoyed seeing my photo on the first collage that comes on camera, and to see the various equipment! And how I love those guffaw moments when Phillip tosses out an absurd remark, or he and Benoit go at each other. What a bunch of busy bees you were this time around! Poor Anna, but you still look trim and lovely as you trudge through those drudgery tasks.
The mouldings look so beautiful and I agree, they make the room very special! So glad Beniot has been able to upgrade his machines!

The hidden door concept is a great additive to the Chateau. Secret doors and secret passages in a chateau that holds a lot of secrets.

Hi Anna,
the paint can be washed from the ceiling, because it is an old material called for "Leimfarbe" in German. It was perfect for molded ceilings, because the paint couldnt get to thick on the surface, otherwise it would crack and has to be removed by washing it off as you did so well. So you did it absolutely right.

Looks like your ceiling may be covered in distemper paint... I think Billy encountered the same thing in one of the chateau bedrooms he was redoing. I believe he may have used a special solution.
Yes, I remember that video on The Pethericks. It took Billy a long time to clean that ceiling of his.

I've used a wallpaper stripper on a distempered ceiling and it worked well. Just don't hold it in one place for too long, or else you risk the plaster coming off.

I think it would be a great DIY project for Anna to make her own ornamental plaster castings for the ceilings of the chateau. I'd love to see that!
So happy for Benoit, getting new and improved machinery and more safe. His poor cut off finger reminds me of my grandfather's two cut off fingers from a logging machine. He use to put a bowl over his hand and one of the shorter fingers was the head of a 🐢 turtle for us kids.
IIRC there‘s no cut off finger, just heavily injured and finally now recovered.

The master suite is really coming along beautifully. So happy for Benoit and all the amazing new machinery he has to work his magic. Well done! Anna, you are such a trooper for working out those floors and that ceiling. I hope you treat yourself to a relaxing spa day after all that hard work. I think the substance you were washing off of the ceiling is most likely Distemper paint. Billy Petherick worked on one of the rooms in the chateau a few months back to prep the ceiling and walls for new paint. He spent 3 days washing that stuff off the ceiling first. You could tell how annoyed he was that it took so long. Hopefully your room gets done sooner so you and Philip have a proper place to retreat to after all the very long days of work still ahead of you. Hope you and your lovely family have a wonderful week ahead. ❤

Its great to see Beniot has a safe environment to work in, and that he has photo's of all the people that helped. If all the ladies take him up on his invitation I think he will get flustered and run for the hills. 😅He such a lovely person.
The rooms are looking really amazing. Anna have you thought of putting a thinner moulding running parallel to the large in the box / rectangular ones , it will just look rather special when it got gold on it.

Very cool of Benoit to have the three mosaic of people who donated surrounding him as he works. Great sentiment and reminder to be extra diligent in his workshop. Question for Phillip: Why can't you put the drywall mud/adhesive onto the wall precisely where the drywall will go instead of on piece of drywall and then move it to the wall? Wouldn't that be easier?
It would be possible I guess but then you have to mark the shape of your piece first

what you are trying to remove is old lime paint which you will need days to wash off like this. we used a pressure washer with a floor attachment with big buckets underneath and 'water vacuum cleaner', to not flood the complete house. this was the only way to get the complete paint off the walls and ceiling.(sorry, I don't know the english terms, but hope you know what I mean)
