In Norway, we pile adults and kids into a truck with sleds, then get driven to the top of a huge hill, the driver drives back down and makes sure no cars head up and we sled down, it takes about 5-8 minutes. Then up again and for as long as we are not too wet or cold, we keep going on slide mattresses and sleds. The most fun ever! Thank you to our driver! ❤

So true. My mother took my sister and me (from the UK) on a skiing holiday in Austria, actually very close to where Philipe and Anna were, on the border of Austria and Italy, when I was seven years old in 1966. I’ve never forgotten it and it started a love of travel which eventually directed me into a career that took me around the world. I now live in south eastern France where I can see the Alpes from my kitchen window and I still often think about that first holiday up there in the snow.

Same here. My parents would go home once per year and sometimes two traveling from Indonesia, through Europe, and back to the mid-west USA. It was easier to go across the Pacific, but less eventful (stopping in Japan one time & Hawaii) ... but going through Europe even at 12 and 13 & 14 I realized I was so lucky. Got bored in Greece once and stayed in the hotel to babysit my younger brother ... but more often than not tagged along for all the sightseeing. @@paulakershaw5452

Teaching your daughters three languages is the best thing you can do! It has helped me so much in my life and makes learning new languages easier as our brains are just wired differently ;)

Memories like this stick with you all your life! 62 years ago my dad made me a sledge, necessary because we had one of the worst winters of the 20th century, the winter of 62/63. Our house was snowed up and the drifts were level with my bedroom window. So dad spent all day on my sledge, he finished and said " come on" . He jumped over the wall into the field, and I followed him, but, because my legs were smaller I didn't jump as far and landed in the centre of a roll of barbed wire. I was covered in cuts, needless to say I didn't go sledging that night.😂

It's an old abandoned mining claim and the cabin has long ago fallen to pieces ...but the memories of Platoro Reservoir and Lily Pond are still with me. We could only go in the summer, since the state doesn't plow up that far off the beaten track. But we went skiing at other places near Colorado Springs where my dad was born. His high school had skiing as a winter sport!

Very very beautiful, so glad you all got a chance to play in the snow during winter holiday! I, however, grew up on the eastern edge of thr Great Plains in the U.S., just where it goes from perfectly flat to quite hilly. Blizzards, snowdrifts up to your eyeballs, endless shoveling while your hands & toes froze, icy hills, icy winds. It was nice if you were warm & cozy inside, but going outside was often not so much fun. Where I live now, it snows only once or twice in the winter & generally melts w/in one or 2 days, except for the one winter where we had 18 inches & then 12 more in a day or 2 (roads not plowed b.c there are few snowplows) & my first winter here when there was a massive ice storm that was incredibly magical---partly b/c I'm retired & did not have to go out, though the loss of electricity for 2-1/2 days got a bit chilly! In any case, mant thanks for letting me enjoy the snow with your family from the comfort of my nice, warm living room!

I grew up in snow country like this in the north highlands of Scotland, it was amazing. All my winter memories were in the dark given the few hours of daylight we had each winter. In the summer we had almost no dark nights either. We used to dig trenches from one house to the other and mum would climb out of the window to shovel snow from the door ! We had no central heating, not much insulation, simple army blankets with a hot water bootle and one small fire where mum warmed up our clothes before we went off to school, after a big plate of porridge of course ! We sledded gloveless well into the night, it was a great childhood, I pity young kids today. Wonderful memories you are making ! xoxoxo

I love Lily's sassyness! She wants to be rich to buy a motorbike and she doesn't have a super papa... Well, Lily in a few years you won't even remember about the motorbike and you'll be certain that you've got a super papa💕

There's nothing like snow glistening in the sun like a field of diamonds! It's one of my favorite winter treasures living in Minnesota, USA. Have you guys ever gone tubing down a snow covered hill? Instead of a toboggan with blades, you sit on a huge tire innertube. My grandkids love it! Some Ski Resorts offer tubing and skiing choices in the US.

This is such a wholesome video. Indeed the best holiday gifts are memories like this, and being aquainted with the alpine landscape is a gift that will be very meaningful in their lives. So great seeing also Ziggy run free and joyous in the mountains! We've had an unusually cold winter in Sweden but the weather is about to change a bit and get warmer. It's been around -15 C in Stockholm and in the largest capital up north (well below the arctic circle and Scandic mountains mind you) it's been around - 34 this past week, and no dogs but polar breeds can stand that cold for more than it takes them to poo at best.
The Alpes are a whole different ballgame with much more daylight and sun, snow but still lovely temperatures given you're dressed appropriately.
Here in Stockholm I don't mind the cold and the snow is so lovely, but the birds suffer and I try to leave apples, balls of suet and seeds for them around my neighborhood, the pigeons freeze their toes off on their perches ar night if they've too little to eat.
Swans and waterfowl all gather in the channel below the Operahouse where there's a feeding float for them. It's too cold to wear waterbased moisurizer of any kind, but very dry at these low temps. The alpine culture is wonderful and mostly less harsh thanks to the warming sun. I used to go slalom skiing there, loved it! Knödel is a real treat! Been too long... Yum! Connecting with family and ones cultural roots is so important growing up, it's all that matters for the holidays, the entire point.
Beautiful video guys, I wish you a year full of happiness and great adventure, good health and good luck with your projects! Love❤ /Jo

I also feed the birds in Oklahoma, USA. You'd think we wouldn't get too cold being so far south, but we are at a dividing line & the weather is very unpredictable. Last year it got below freezing for almost a week and the electricity went out! Fortunately, we have a fireplace.... I always think of the creatures that come to rely on us like the squirrels and birds and even the foxes in my neighborhood. When I lived in Minneapolis, Minnesota which gets VERY cold indeed I used to wonder why such a large contingent of Canadian geese did not migrate to the south. People took it upon themselves to feed them grain, especially around the numerous lovely city lakes..... where inevitably there would be warming houses and hot chocolate for the ice skaters on the lakes. The Alps have a magic all their own... it is lovely to go there virtually with this lovely family!
