I did not recognize him at first when hearing him singi in Arcane because of that. I really could not believe it was his voice because it was so different from what I was used to hear from him. He is really an incredible artist !

THAT is an impressive range. And he sounds very natural in his upper range, it's almost like a different person started singing in the prechorus.
It feels amazing when live acoustic version sounds at least same good as original recording and at the same time hits differently. Amazing job guys. Waiting for your song in S2

I was honestly taken aback when I found out this was Woodkid while watching the show because I've never heard his voice go that high during the chorus, but then the whole atmosphere and style of the song was unmistakably him. Amazing stuff!
Any other song recommendations? Feel like I missed out if people are saying this sounds like nothing else hes done.

@@InnerRise I guess Iron is one of his most well known song. Goliath is my recent favourite of his. He does usually sing in lower tone (which I don't blame him, the colour of his voice in that range is incredible), but his songs are not just about his voice. I always describe his sound as cinematic.

Yeah, I checked out some of his other songs since then. Nothing stuck out to me like this one has.
Although I realize he was the singer of that assassin's creed trailer song that everyone liked back then. Me too.
His voice is softly hugging my ears while the words are tearing my heart appart... And its beautiful!
His vocals riding the edge of the tempo in parts of this version gives me anxiety.
I've been listening to this song on repeat, can't imagine how happy I am that an official acoustic version is released, especially when there hasn't been that many covers of this song compared to the other Arcane ones.
Probably because that’s a tricky song to cover; as others comments already said the vocal range here is seriously no joke.

@@yomomomom4495autotune =/= pitch correction. The autotune you’re talking about is a very heavy effect and I don’t hear any in this version (it’s extremely easy to detect). But of course he uses pitch correction (and sound processing), like every single other performance of every other artist that gets posted on any kind of media. Not autotune.
He really pushed himself with this song, so much switching between vocal techniques and such a huge range in pitch. Definitely pushing himself past his (former) limits and it's awesome :D
Woodkid and Billie Eilish collab is something Arcane season 2 simply needs.

I'm gonna be honest for having a very low voice , I know how difficult it is to get high notes when you have a deep voice, so I thought the first time I heard this song , that there was 2 different singers it's incredible.
Is it just me or does it sound like two different people singing whenever he shifts to the higher parts of the song? I find it crazy how his accent just vanishes when he hits those high notes.

I saw him perform S16 live and it was so magical that I struggle to listen to the studio album now. Everything was arranged differently and he sang the whole thing live, the visuals were insane, Woodkid is a true artist and while he is appreciated and recognised in the music industry he deserves so much more attention and praise !! Guns for hire is a masterpiece…
Agreed! I saw him perform The Golden Age three times between 2012 and 2014 and it was magical all the times. Him, the orchestra, the lights, the videos behind.... All was so perfect.

i've been following and listening to Woodkid ever since the AC Revelations trailer bc i fell in love with his voice and the instrumentals, got to see him live some years after when he unexpectedly came to my country which was amazing, his live vocals are insane, they hit so hard along with the light show he does in his concerts. So, when i was watching Arcane, the signal scene really hit like a truck, not only is his voice so beautiful but also the instrumentals in his songs, they're truly mindblowing, they always give me the chills

Quand j'ai entendu la chanson pour la première fois, en matant la série, j'ai instantanément frissonné sans savoir pourquoi. Il m'a fallu quelques secondes pour percuter que c'était Woodkid. Son album est pour moi un joyau, mais je ne m'attendais absolument pas à l'entendre dans une production d'une telle ampleur - c'est dire à quel point il est sous-estimé. Quelle putain de chanson.

Love the way the tone drops down low as he sings 'falls through your fingers' in the first phrase. Amazing tone, absolutely love it. The head voice sounds so good too.
