Recently we decided to purchase a two-masted wooden schooner in Brazil. The fun detail about our story is that the boat we bought was sinking and relying on many bilge pumps to survive so we had to lift it onto the dry to start a full refit. Once the boat was lifted (for the first time in her life) we realized that the work needed was much more than expected. Between bailing or accepting the challenge, we decided to go for the second option. Watch us as we bring Yabá back to life with the help of an amazing team of traditional shipwrights, sharing every phase of the process, overcoming the highs and lows and having fun along the way.

Happy mother's day! And thank you all for growing our subscribers family to 100k! We still can't believe it!
I live in louisiana along the Gulf Coast. I'm 69 this year, and I always wanted to do what both of you have accomplished. Unfortunately, my health has changed . My boat project is dead in the water. I am so happy for you both. I'm glad I was able to see YABA being launched. I wasn't sure I would make it, but I did. Thank you both for the many hours of joy.
I'll be 68 this year and in similar situation my health has me by the ....I'm up in B.C. Canada and I've got some awesome Doctors for which I would probably not
be here if it wasn't for them. Anyways I would love to be doing the sailing adventure I never was one to be getting sea sick and the adventures seem to fit a life style that I would have loved
I started a boat build over ten years ago, and in between I was diagnosed with leukemia, although I’m still in full remission, many health problems arose and put my build on hold. I have finally in the last year and a half been able to get close to launch. I’ve been following many boat projects and have seen them all make it to the water. While I feel left behind, I am exited for all of them and can’t wait until my day to launch my boat. I feel for everyone who has had similar dreams and won’t be able to fulfill them, but these channels do allow for us to enjoy their time in their adventures.
Don’t you worry! I know what the prize will be for those of us who had to postpone dreams like boat building in tuis life: we will be boat builders and sailers in eternity ❤ 🙏🙏🙏

Hey Ben you seem to have done your carpenter apprenticeship over the last 3 years and your skills are great. I'm a Tradie myself and no stranger to a saw, impact driver and a drill. This boat model is good for daily passenger tours in Brazil. The owner can make good money. Doesn't sail, but is good with a poweful motor.😊

I know the world is large and your adventures will take you too many ports, but if you’re ever on the West Coast, I will be making a trip to greet you both and if lucky stand on YABÁ. that would be the cherry on top of this adventure we are on.

you need to put a cap on the very top of the masts to help prevent rotting and splitting, it is really good to see Yaba back in the water, well done

Edit: I watched a bit more, and starting at 10:44 he makes both of them, then at 20:20 he installs one, along with the tri-color mast-top light.

It has been interesting to watch two young people who embarked on a project without too many ideas of how they were going to achieve their dream, to a young couple who have learnt an enormous amount and both become very capable boat builders and engineers. With finally achieving the goal that they set for themselves, so a big congratulations is in order and well done and I look forward to your ongoing adventures and maybe one day you will get to my part of the world in New Zealand.

You’re going to end up wanting some sort of raised border, a guard, around the stove top gimbal to keep pots and pans from sliding off of it. I know the gimbal is supposed to keep it level, but trust me, they will still move around on that glass and you don’t want them going onto the floor.
