    Still love this album and my love for it has grown. I also have it on vinyl! I try to listen to one song, but I end up listening to the whole album. This has happened more with this than any other Metallica album next to MOP.

    It was one of my favourite albums from 2023 and I still love it, Lux Æterna was the song I did for my guitar masterclass in college and I got to see them on this tour (as well as getting the vinyl of it from my older brother for my birthday back in January) so I’ve been really enjoying it. Looking forward to the livestream, whenever it happens

    The production and repetitiveness of this album is what killed it. Imagine if they trimmed the fat to have each song around 2-3 minutes long. And with a punchy guitar distortion alongside pummelling drum production. On the released record, the production is so clean its like scrubbing bubbles. Just a few changes would've improved this album tenfold.

    • @kylebrady969
      @kylebrady969 2 месяца назад +2

      I have a bit of a personal project where I want to try rearranging/slightly rewriting 72 Seasons. I'm no music expert by any means (nor would I call myself a snob or elitist, thank god), but I wanted to see where I subjectively would trim sections down, use different riffs, etc.
      Been slow work, but I kinda like what I have so far. Not every song is gonna get this treatment; just the ones I feel absolutely needed more refinement.

  • @falricthesleeping9717
    @falricthesleeping9717 2 месяца назад +4

    0:37 this speaks volumes, the sad (subjective) truth is that it's very forgettable, I only liked 3 moments in the entire album, liked as in listen to it on repeat before I put them away, take note that I said "moments" not songs, and that's just disappointing on so many levels

    I'm gonna be totally honest - Death Magnetic was the last Metallica album I truly geeked out about. I like the songs fine, but 72 doesn't do much for me from a fan standpoint. It's a largely forgettable experience. I'd rather have another Garage Days than another Metallica album of originals any day of the week. They seem to put more effort into covers than their own songs these days. Case in point, the Elton John thing they did the other night, which I thought was fantastic.

    Out of the many records that came out in 2023, this is still my second favorite, first being In Times New Roman by QOTSA. The songs have really grown on me, except for Chasing Light and Barbed Wire. One year later I can safely say those two songs are shit. But the rest is pretty fucking awesome, specially 72 Seasons and Inamorata.

    I still think this is a decent outing, I am happy with this record but there are just some things that irk me, drums (cymbals mainly) are too loud, guitar tone is very bog standard, and Kirk still disappoints me. That said Room of Mirrors, 72 Seasons, and Inamorata are phenomenal tracks.

  • @webrockers
    @webrockers 2 месяца назад

    There are only 3 great Metallica albums (the first 3 with Cliff), one good (Black) and one which could have been good (Justice, and this isn‘t Jason‘s fault).
    I love Rob btw. has nothing to do with him.
    I know it‘s mean to say, but I am wondering what Metallica would have become and sound like today, if instead of Cliff, Lars had died (or/and Kirk).

    • @_PuppetMaster86

    • @webrockers
      @webrockers 2 месяца назад

      @@_PuppetMaster86 No fucks to give. Without Cliff Metallica wouldn’t be where they are now. Dave got kicked out and created an entire quarter of the Big 4 by himself. Kirk wouldn’t have been able to. Even Jason had his own Band Flotsam .. Rob is a freaking animal on the bass and so talented. James is awesome. But Large Oilrig is totally overrated. Yeah, I know… he is basically the manager of the band but by 1986 if he had passed … come on… They were already on track and finding a replacement drummer for him wouldn’t have been a challenge at all. Just look at the musical impact Cliffs passing had on the band. It completely changed.
      Puppets was the pinnacle of Metallica and Metal. Symphony of Destruction by Megadave is a close second.

  • @dovahvenom4032
    @dovahvenom4032 2 месяца назад +1

    It think it's a decent album, but it was lacking in many areas.
    -No instrumental
    -No ballad song yet again
    -Production quality and sound was way too similar to Hardwired
    -Kirk really needs to step up his solos or step aside. The solos are just not acceptable on these last two albums.
    -Many songs are too bloated (Darkness, Inamorata, and you must burn come to mind)
    -The album really lacks diversity, every song blurs together and it's because the entire album sounds the same.

    • @_PuppetMaster86
      @_PuppetMaster86 2 месяца назад +1

      Inamorata *is* a ballad (in fact, EVERY Metallica album after Kill 'Em All has at least one ballad).

  • @lewisgrant7622
    @lewisgrant7622 Месяц назад

    The only song I don’t like on this album is if darkness had son. It’s just not a great song. It takes like 2 minutes to get to the chorus he gets to the chorus says temptation 4 times and calls THAT a chorus also the rest of the song is just dull and repetitive

  • @P1kaSans
    @P1kaSans 2 месяца назад +2

    honestly, it's quite a forgettable album... only a handful of decent songs... (and that's coming from a st. anger death magnetic defender) none of the songs really popped out to me as the song of the year for metallica... so if i had to put all of my favorite songs from all albums, i'd probably go something like this:
    kea - seek and destroy
    rtl - creeping death
    mop - orion
    ajfa - harvester of sorrow
    tba - nothing else matters
    load - mama said
    reload - devil's dance
    st. anger - frantic
    dm - suicide and redemption
    htsd - am i savage?
    72s - lux æterna

    • @mattdad8429
      @mattdad8429 2 месяца назад +1

      I agree. I got really excited for 72 when Lux Aeterna dropped but then my passion for it dwindled pretty quick. If the whole thing was like Lux, I'd really enjoy the album; but it kinda became Hardwired 2.0 for me. Then again I love Inamorata, which is on the other end of the spectrum. I like your song list, btw. It's unorthodox, and I definitely can't disagree with your picks. For fun I'm gonna do my own because you've inspired me.
      KEA - Metal Militia
      Lightning - For Whom the Bell Tolls
      Puppets - Battery (perhaps Orion too but depends on mood)
      Justice - Harvester as well
      Black - The Unforgiven
      Load - Outlaw Torn
      Reload - Fixxxer
      St. Anger - Unnamed Feeling
      Death Magnetic - Unforgiven 3
      Hardwired - Am I Savage?
      72 Seasons - Inamorata
      *all songs subject to change depending on mood, setting, time of day, and energy levels
