  • Wanted to show some of the things I put in my Weber Go Anywhere grill that will make it even better as a portable charcoal grill. We used to pack these things in a box when we would take the boat out or stay overnight in a campground. Now everything we need is in a nice portable package. Doing these things make it the Weber Grab and Go Anywhere grill! Contact info for the 2 products I mention are below.

      +GrillGrate love that your company responded to Tactical's video!!! Would totally purchase the Go Anywhere GrillGrate if you ever do decide produce them made to fit! (As a single woman, it doesn't make a lot of sense for me to purchase the 3-panels only to have the added worry, time, and additional money, involved in finding someone who will cut and fix them up to size for me. I will check back occasionally though to see if GrillGrate does offer them at some point in the future as they definitely sound like a must-have for grilling). Again, it was really kind of you to respond to this great video!

      +5.11tactical have to agree with another comment that this is definitely the best video out there on the Go Anywhere Grill! The ideas and modifications you made to this thing are phenomenal! LOVE how you pack it full with absolutely everything needed for grilling (AND then cleaning up after) your next meal! Ingenious! And how nice that GrillGrate contacted you for sending more business their way - impressive that a company would take time to thank you like that! (My son LOVES spices of all kinds, so I am also looking into getting him some of that Dixie Pride Seasoning)! Thanks so much for the great video!

      +Anne Lloyd Thank you very much for your kind comments. My goal was to hopefully make a video that was easy to understand and had basic, simple ideas that most everyone could use and do very simply. I'm glad you liked the content. And, I agree with regard GrillGrate, it is very encouraging they have noticed a need and hopefully will be able to follow thru with adding a product for the Go Anywhere. When they do I'll be sure to do a follow up video and actually use them to cook something. Thanks for watching.

    GrillGrates now has a brand new set available specifically for the Weber Go Anywhere grill. They list at $49.99 and come with ...... "Includes three cut to fit GrillGrate panels along with a short handled GrateTool which packs away inside the grill." They even made the short handle spatula to boot! Thanks GrillGrates. Grill Grates now make them made for the Go Anywhere grill. About to get both the grill and grates, but have the grates for my webber gasser. These are simply are amazing. Very expensive in the UK, but still worth it. Being so close to the charcoal, I'd say these are an absolute must. Flatter even the worst BBQ'er and make a good one look even better. Makes very god results with no effort.

  • @tomdonaghy8757

    good modifications! I firstly hacksawed the Weber cooking grill in half so I can access the charcoal with the food on the other side, and as you correctly point out, by lowering the charcoal grate to the bottom --then turning the Weber cooking grill 90 degrees when sawn in two pieces, the whole grate system disappears into the bottom of the BBQ and you can load it with your tools and charcoal and starter cubes! Oh, my answer to the lightweight grate was Craycort Cast Iron two section grates, they get very hot and contact the food directly so you get good scorch marks and good cooking. Great fun aren't they?? Ideal for two people too.

      You will definitely find they are most useful for a transportable grill. We take ours on the boat and find a nice shady spot sometimes and cook on the bank. We've even used it in the backyard when we want to cook just 1 steak or a couple of small burgers or steaks or chops rather than putting fire in the larger Weber Kettle we have.

    Great packaging with all you need to cook outdoors. My only suggestion is add some newspaper or paper towels to cover the grates when you repack everything to keep the grease off of the other stuff. Many times you do not have the time to wash all the grease off before packing.

      +Ron B. They are the 3-panel 13.75" grates as listed on their website. You will need to cut them to length and bob the corners as described. I took mine to a friend who owns a welding shop and has a metal cutting band saw. They would be very difficult to cut straight with a hacksaw, at least in my opinion. Took him all of about 5 minutes to do. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    This is brilliant. I was almost convinced to buy a gas Weber Q 1200, but this looks like a portable version of what I know best: A Weber kettle with a charcoal chimney and GrillGrates! I'm also thinking my 16" flat skewers would lay across this grill nicely without the grate in place! the rectangle shape and dual top vents make it a very versatile grill.

    • @5.11tactical3
      @5.11tactical3  5 лет назад

      Honestly, in my humble opinion, you can't ever go wrong with a Weber grill. I've owned and used them for over 25 years and have never had a bad experience. I guess it really depends on HOW you are going to use it, and by that I mean are you going to use it at home as a single person, or couple with no children, or are you looking to pack and transport it for recreational purposes, like we do. We have a Weber Genesis gas grill and a Weber Original 26" Premium Charcoal grill that we use at home. I have on occasion, used the Go Anywhere at home when I only want to grill a single steak or two, or something that is relatively small rather than fire up the gas grill or the larger charcoal grill. A key component for transporting is the ease of packing it. Because the Go Anywhere is RECTANGULAR it is easier to pack and transport, in my opinion. The Smokey Joe and the Jumbo Joe series are ROUND which makes them not necessarily hard to transport but difficult to pack due to their round shape. But, either one of these are great grills for the money and with proper care and maintenance will last for decades. Hope this answers your questions. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    *Living in an apartment where you want to keep the smoke to a minimal this grill performed even better than expectations>>>**arah.in/fcrR** The ease in starting it makes it comparable to gas where you can just turn it on and 5 minutes start grilling. You can come home for work and quickly cook dinner on a charcoal grill for you and the family. Well worth it. Has enough space on the grill easily for good size burgers or chickens. If you run our charcoal it is easy to add more and continue the grill going. Only down side is you need to by the cover separate.*

    Sorry, can't see putting that much work into a $50 grill.

      Some people put a helluva lot more work into loading a boat or an RV for a trip than you would putting this together. Certainly if you would rather load an $800 Weber Genesis into your boat or truck for a trip, by all means go for it. This is a quick and easy way to take a trip and still enjoy outdoor cooking, especially if you are in an area that does not allow campfires. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
