    I just made these, followed your recipe (adapting to what I had) and it's delicious! The textures are wonderful, and the flavour is great... I didn't have vegan cheese, but I used seaweed in some rice cakes, and really liked them. Will definitely make again. Thank you!

    I’ve made rice paper bacon (so good! If there’s too much sauce on it, it reminded me of chewy chicken skin and with less sauce it’s more crunchy like bacon). -and yes not a replacement for protein for anyone reading this. Just a fun thing to try.

    Seriously... I have been searching for rice cakes all week and yesterday I got fed up and ordered them online for way too much money, and now this shows up in my feed😂🙈. And yes: I have that pack of rice paper laying in the back of a cupboard, not being touched for months😂. I definitly will try this, especially with the fillings❤

    My Asian market has the rice cakes and I always wanted to try them. This looks like the perfect dish. So, if I used the real rice cakes, they would cook for longer?

    Thanks for sharing this! I have been ordering the rice cakes from Amazon, which I hate to resort to (but they have everything!!). Rice.papwrs ARE much more readily available in neighborhood grocery stores. And I'll be making this for dinner tonight! Love tekbokki!!

    i can't wait to make this just hope i can find all ingredients, some things like the Gochujang and Gochugaru I don't think I've seen I might just do the paste since I am not the best with super spicey stuff

      I’ve bought gochujang at my local grocery in their small catch-all Asian section, didn’t have to go to a specialty store. It’s spicy and sweet, like a sweet sriracha.

    Wow thank you so much! I can't find any rice cakes so this will be a great substitute. I have been wanting to make this dish for awhile now but, have been stuck on the rice cake. No worries you cook how I cook. I too can't follow directions. L ol.

    nah you have to fold in the sides when you stuff with cheese before rolling up, else it just melts outward when you cook it and you jsut have a blob of cheese at the bottom of your pot, burning and sticking to the bottom. they will be shorter in length by comparison, but also fatter. dont cut them, just use scissors or bite them in half AFTER they been cooked and served. but you might want to pushed out the air bubbles before you roll too. like putting on a screen protector on your phone. they will hold together better and have a more consistent texture.

    Ahhh!!! It's so hard for me to find rice cakes in my area!!! I'm not willing to drive 1 hr to H-Mart and 1hr back home just for rice cakes 🥺 I've had rice paper in my pantry for a bit I'm definitely going to try this

    Maybe I should watch more Viet cooking channels, but I swear people don't need to soak the rice paper that long. Just get all surfaces wet and it'll soften (eventually).

      I just made these with cold water. I didn't use hot. I watched a video that explained that the final product tastes more like the real thing because hot gets the rice paper too soft

      @@nameless9491 Yeah, I've never made rice cakes, but I'm Viet and it drives me crazy when people go overboard with the soaking. I agree cold water is fine. They're so thin, it's simpler that way.

    I just can't eat Tteokbokki. Well, at least not the one's I've cooked myself. They are always just too dense. I can only eat like 4 or 5 and I'm full. lol Rice paper may work better for me if it isn't so dense then I can have the flavors of Tteokbokki.

      yesss! i think the rice paper is a less dense, more chewy (in a different way) option! use less rice paper and less layers ~ hope you try!

      It is not as dense, I just made it. I really liked it. It has more of the texture of Chinese rice cakes. Very good!

    I bought the rice paper but haven't done the recipe. In response to the COVID-19 for vegans question, I was very sick after just getting the vaccination. I had a high fever for days. You can say that's from a high immune system, but being sick is being sick ya know. So t think peeps with COVID-19 and vegan are miserable too. I am not saying to not get the vaccine because I will probably get the booster. I'm just not looking forward to it.
