Paolo Nutini & Phil Cunningham - Auld Lang Syne It was from a fantastic series "Scotland's Music" with Phil Cunningham. www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/music/t...
The melancholy version makes sense because the song is about 2 friends who live apart and have reunited around drink remembering the past. It is a song longing for the past hence the melancholy version is a good fit because that is how you feel when you longing for the past.
I agree it’s meant to be bitter sweet, the end of something yet the beginning. Heres to Mr Burns and to Paulo and to whomever you wish to toast, friends ❤.
I love Paolo Nutini singing both versions of this song. Is there any chance you could upload the whole of him singing the "more popular" version - pretty please? I watched it over and over on the BBC Scotland website while it was available and have been looking for it ever since!
a legend of our lifetime
I honestly think Paolo's version is the best I've ever heard.

What awful language!
My favourite version of Auld Lang Syne is at 0:41
It's not Paolo's version,it's the original Burns version
Oh my, this is wonderful. Was the first part recorded in the Great Hall in Edinburgh Castle, anyone know?
Is he still touring actually?
Easy on the 'zyne' Paulo, very American.
What is it in Scottish? Sign?
