Wow! Incredible voice! This song brings back memories 45 years ago growing up on the gulf coast. My mother would be inside the beach house cooking gumbo. I would be under the cabin on a swing. This song would come on and my mother would sing at the top of her lungs and as loud as she could. Neighbors in their beach houses or close by had no choice but to listen and wonder if an animal had been hurt and was in pain. She couldn’t carry a note and was so off key. But that didn’t matter to her. I would be on the ground outside laughing.and my dad would be shaking his head from side to side with this horrific look on his face. Listening to this song now ... makes me laugh all over again like it was yesterday. What I wouldn’t give to be back at that beach house... with the smell of gumbo and mom putting on her own private concert and my dad trying to hide from embarrassment. Great music... great times... and priceless memories. Thanks Paolo ... you are one amazing singer and storyteller!

Hi pat im in the uk, may 2024. I was so touched by your comment I had to reply . I’ve been listening to this song a lot lately. It conjures up sunny days, bus trips, laughter, youth, good friends. The whole bright future spread out before you like a golden path to happiness . I’m 60,now, wondering where the hell the last 45 years went!
Paolo Nutini has come a long way since his "New Shoes" days (where he was as charming as he's here). What a versatile artist! I love this cover of "Everybody's Talking".
This is the second reference to him being underrated..I can't say I have thought that about him. I find most people who know and play a lot of musical styles hold him in high regard.. Never knew anyone to hate on him.. I'll never forget where I was when I first heard him sing Last Request and a fan since.
criminally under rated. I've sent a few people songs by him and they were completely unaware how good he is because they had only heard last request and new shoes
Well I'm from the USA where if any I nes heard of him it's pencil full of lead or new shoes. Both imo his bottom two songs. But I was blessed ro see hom I. Chicago this year right on the rail. Best concert
Me too. Everyday his songs swirl in my soul and I'm constantly sing or humming to myself, if I'm not listening to him. I can't get enough of his amazing voice. Paolo is my soul man.
missing so much... "i won't let you leave my love behind" last phrase ... dealing with the past... looking forward ...but that's all ... and the present fearless trying to made me forget ...
His voice is so astounding... It's everything..roy o, elvis, chis I, wat a talent

It makes me both mad and so grateful, that RUclips doesn't flood me with recommendations from my favourite artists, but shows me them sparingly. It makes it all the more special when they do so, like coming across this just now. Thank you RUclips, but more importantly, thank you Paolo Nutini ❤
Why does this song makes me cry (almost) every time I ear it ? I'm french and I'm not even sure to understand every word. Lot of emotion there. Thanks for that.
I very rarely comment here.. But as much as I love the Harry Nilsson version of this wonderful song, I find myself amazed by this version too. A true cover, a different interpretation, without falling anywhere just to pretend to do something original. Bravo. More! PS: hey Cafè Corsari, the song is written by Fred Neil, not Nilsson, which inspired most for this Nutini version!!
Brilliant...so happy I fell upon this...I've always loved Paolo Nutini...he's raw, the truth and completely the real deal! We need another album from him soon, but it'll be totally worth the wait!!...Paolo just makes 'everything' better!!
My God!!! I absolutely LOVE when Paolo sings this! It brings peace to my soul! So soothing! I listen to it at least 5x a day! Thank you for posting! & Paolo, Thank you for bringing me so much joy with your beautiful voice! 🎶🎵 xo ❤
Not wanting to be a killjoy, but it was the legendary folksinger Fred Neil who composed the song in 1966, first releasing it himself in 1968 and then giving Harry Nilsson the reigns to record it and subsequently use it in 1969 for the iconic film Midnight Cowboy!
Wonderful to hear this classic track sung so deliciously, delightfully and powerfully - new life to an old song. Thanx Paolo and all the band. Can't wait to hear this live. xx
not underrated but so intelligently keeping balance between enthusiastic appreciation (that he gets worldwide) and stardom, which is a soft drug very dangerous and even life-threatening:) some say old voice, old soul and perhaps he does possess also that old wisdom which allows him to keep his route to become a great if not legendary artist. the evolution of his music delivers this constant re-search, as his covers do. where, like here, he not only owns the music with his wonderful musicians, but lives in it. a sort of magic that needs to be preserved carefully, and guess he knows well luckily... only a few more lives, also in It, would be great:)) way to go!
Weronika A S Weronika A S thanks very kind of you:) he is great (and the band as well) and so very down to earth, which makes him quite unique. hope he comes back at some point with an album and especially with live concerts:)
In my eyes he already is one of the greatest of all times ... i believe that Paolo maybe had enough of the "artificial life" of a Superstar, he got his money, he still stand on the Ground and want to try out what Life has to offer for him, apart from the music Biz, maybe he found a Woman and/or decided to invest more time into his Family . Btw i hope He s coming back im a great Lover of his Music also my whole Family is . Cu and Gl
