Hey, for the few that may read this, you don't have to attack cancel your back air off down throw at low percent. It's true of of a rar as well. And you should learn how to dthrow into drag down up air and only do the back air at the ledge
wrong, back air cover all di, down throw drag down can be di'ed away.

tbh i wish i were the same way. every time i’m like “yo that was sick” after getting a drag down combo or gun kill, i always do awful for the rest of the match

After watching through I gotta add some things. The double jump fast fall option is incredibly sick against characters with bad range on their uair, fair and bair (think like the opposite of marth and lucina aerials, when they don't have wide sweeping motions like that it's really hard to punish, especially since much like other fastfallers, joker has lethal landing aerials)
The tech that he does on the ledge that gives you that dash can also be done on stage and is a very interesting movement option which I like to use and then go for a dash grab or dash attack. It's really useful out of a b reverse if you were getting chased as well, and it can be used as a neutral mixup since going for a b reverse gundash looks a lot like spacing a back air on shield, which means that it can net you a free grab sometimes and if your opponent has good reactions they may jump out of shield which can be hard punished with an up smash.
Also learn the up throw drag down up air combos as it is your best throw combo at low percent and depending on the character d throw drag down u air can work at like 50.
Overall great guide! And remember, the best way to get good at anything is to practice well and practice often!

@@CozyyPR since you covered combos and advanced movements I would either go for replay analysis examples (how to play neutral/advantage/disadvantage with Joker) and that's 3 separate videos, then maybe popular matchups with joker going either in depth 1 by 1 (how to play vs peach as Joker) or a general one, but I think the in depth ond would be better as you can make more videos and we can go for the specific one but it would take more time. You decide, but so far you are doing great bud!

For the first tip on Bair, is there specific reason you would you need to double jump? You can input two bairs in one full hop.
yes u can! they both work but i find that double jumping is easier and more realiable to catch your opponents jump. but thats just me! fullhop backair can also work :)

Great video! I'm finally convinced to bite the bullet and switch my left trigger to jump. I've been dreading this because I just got some solid muscle-memory down on all of my short-hop delayed aerials with the 'x' button, but I don't want to nerf my potential.
I have a question about that though- Are you using the trigger for all of your jumping now, Or just when you need it for attacks coming out right when you full hop?
I only use L for attack cancels and frame 1 aerials, if i need to fullhop or delay my aerial in any way, I use X! And my layout before this one was literally backwards so I had to rewire my brain to get the new muscle memory down, but it’ll be so worth it in the end! good luck and thanks for the feedback! :)

before watching this i was awful at joker, like i was at about 1 million gsp, i started watching your videos and started playing joker at the mini smash tournaments me and a bunch of other guys who are into smash have after schools finishes, i recently decided to try playing smash online again because of COVID 19, and i didn't lose a single game all the way to elite smash, your guide is very helpful, thanks

For some reason sometimes Im able to make d throw to bair a true combo eventhough I dont use attack canceling. (I have c stick Smash) and yeah It really is a true combo without attack canceling, I tested It on training Mode and It works
Persona Telephatic Sleep Device both of them are true combos, its just a matter of personal preference! I prefer attack cancels but RAR bair is really good too

Imo joker relies mostly on the players skill, he doesn't have many gimmicks apart from arsen but he benifits from a skilled player more than everyome else. So I think training with other ppl is better than using training mode apart from trying combos and stuff
Peace was never an option for sure! playing against people will always be better than training mode stuff! and yea hes not really a gimmick character in any way

i play pure claw(so my pointer finger stays on the a x y and b buttons at all times) and have two fingers in the trigger and bumbers and my thumb sits on the c stick at all times. so i shouldnt have to change my binds but is there anything that my preffered way of holding the controller mess up.
nah not really, i feel like claw fixes all the things that regular grip has! u should turn off tap jump tho regardless in my

never played any smash game before but my friend is a pretty big sweat, he invited me over to play one time i played joker and I got hooked. he mains ike and plays tournaments so I figured id buy a switch to practice and eventually beat him lol. this is a really long shot but would you be down to coach me even if it was for a day? just to get some knowledge on the game and maybe improve?

How do you stop mid fall? I keep trying to input a dodge before I hit the ground but it doesn’t work
so you have to wait for down guns to end in order to be able to airdodge or input any action right before landing! if you input down guns at the very peak of your double jump, it'll stop right before u hit the ground. you may also just be tapping the B button one too many times which forces u into another set of down guns, try tapping the b button once :)

try doing it at the very peak of your double jump, and maybe tap the B button only once because mashing or tapping it more than once will make you do another set of downguns (3 shots) 👍🏽

Here's my question, you say it's mandatory for the second button to be jump but Mkleo arguably the best Joker main only has it set to special
trigger jumps are mandatory for attack canceling, not for playing the game in general. and everybody has their own preferences, some people dont even change their control layout. do whatever works for u bra or copy Leo lol
@@CozyyPR lol no it was just curiousity inside me the way I play is still developing so I'm looking at different people's outputs in how he plays and jot notes the way the controller works is me still needing to figure out a way that'll help with a style I want and if it's comfortable (I'm a weirdo)

the dash isn't invincible though, i don't think (off drop off ledge jump gun slide)
you’re invincible for a couple of frames while doing the dash in the air, but as soon as joker touches the ground its no longer invincible!
