I have been to Haebangchon many times in the past, but this area has changed so much since my last visit! I just my little tour this time! I will have to come back soon! How did you like the area?!
Lol the incline and slopes remind me a lot of Kigali, Rwanda 🇷🇼 I was panting everytime I walked through the city 😂 Haebangchon truly looks hip and happening! Love this video, Francois! 😍
Yes, yes! I remember Kigali well! I usually took a motorcycle around the city, so I didn't worry much about the hills hahaha. But yeah, it's definitely a trek!
I really love this type of architecture...I'm sad to see a lot of it is disappearing from Seoul:( I'm glad you enjoyed the content in the video:) Thank you for always watching faithfully♡♡♡:)
the moroccan sandwich shop is legendary. the area across is "kyungridan". also if you hike to the top near namsan park there is another area which has a restaurant where Itaewon Class was filmed and there is a view of the whole city from top
Hi, Francois!! Great video!! Thank you for giving us a tour of the Haebangchon area in Seoul. I have been to Itaewon many times like many foreigners do but have not been here in the past. I have to go here next time when I visit Itaewon. It looks quite trendy and vintage at the same time. As you said, the community has undergone many changes. It definitely has that cultural and historic vibe that makes people want to visit for leisure, shopping, cafes, wining and dining, and much more. Francoise, as you may know, Korea and its people are going crazy now over a Korean writer named Han Kang who has recently won The Nobel Prize in Literature. This is very historical in epic proportion as you can imagine. Korean people are obviously super proud of her. She is not only the first Korean but also the first Asian woman writer to win The Nobel Prize in Literature if I am not mistaken. Korean people are lining up to buy all her books especially her most famous ones like 1. The Vegetarian 2. The Acts 3. We do not part 4. White. I was very lucky enough to get a copy of these books because they are pretty much sold out in many bookstores and online. I am reading her books now and they are really amazing. So, if it is possible, could you do a separate video on her winning and also an overview of her books if you have read them? I am sure you will get a lot of views because it is definitely trending big time now not only here in Korea but also in many parts of the world. Even though I am a huge fan of literary work and love reading, I have not had time or desire to read some quality books recently but Han Kang's books are definitely worth the time and money!! Without giving away too many details about her writing and her books, I will just say that I am a huge fan of hers and respect her as a writer for her intense but also beautiful and poetic imagery confronting human pain and suffering like no other writers I have seen. Her books deal with a lot of historical brutal political violence and traumas where many people have been killed fighting for democracy and thus massacred in Korea. It really teaches us about the innate violent nature of humans and it questions us as readers as to why we do these horrible things to other human beings and basically, teaches us not to do these things. I think her books and her messages are very fitting with all the wars and suffering that we are literally witnessing right in front of our eyes these days!! Thank you for reading my long message today Francoise. I just felt compelled to share this with you since it is such HUGE news here in Korea. Of course, it is totally up to you whether you want to cover her story!! See you brother!!!
I love your tours of neighborhoods. This is so cool. I'm planning on coming and these vids are so helpful. My son and his wife are in suwon for a wedding. I sent them your vid to check out the hood
actually 해방 means close to "Liberation" imo. "해방" means being set free from oppression, usually with help from others, while "Independence, 독립" focuses on gaining freedom and control on your own. there is historical reason and story behind why this place is called "해방촌", not "Independence town" though it's hard to explain shortly. Sorry for being picky ;)
The burger was heavenly...Lemonade here in Korea is usually made with sparkling water. It's where the 'ade' part comes from, I think lol. I've had legit lemonade down in the countryside and it was sooooooo delicious!
@@francoismarc3 I'm gonna start making lemonade that way - thanks! It's almost impossible to find a burger like that here - there is a monopoly on smashed burgers. 🙁
@@francoismarc3 Haha. When I was a child the Western food in Korea was less than memorable there. I would have never expected any of it to have surpassed North America at any point.

Thank you so much! I hope you have a great day as well:)
I like how you explore the area in details, not just tourist spots.
Hey thanks so much! As the saying goes, the devil is in the details! Hahaha
Villas are so attractive and unusual 😍
This area impresses with cozy atmosphere and architecture❤
Waiting for more videos, Francois, thank you!

카페.. 눈으로만 봐도 커피가 넘 맛있어보이네요. 해방촌 분위기도 좋고..
근데 Francois님은 아메리카노는 잘 안드시나봐요 ㅎㅎ
The cafe and atmosphere of HBC are so nice, but I don't drink coffee, except if it is super high quality, and then, only a little:)
와~~

Yooooo, thanks so much for being number 1!!!
I love lemons, but I find lemonade too sweet. Is the lemonade different in Seoul? It looked soda style. That burger looked so juicy!
somehow they call lemonade for sweet soda. i dont like it either.

The coffee owner is just another thousands of coffee owners in Korea. Nothing special about this store. But good video Francois!
Hahahahaha this is not the first time I've heard this lol. Thanks for watching as always:)
