@@syfodias-jedimaster It is because a gfci is only a device to compare the amount of current going in vs coming out. If the difference is too much, then it trips. The problem is, some devices may do things that can cause that difference so they trip. Poor insulation (or anything else that causes leakage current) is a common cause. Dust is another. You can have dust built up on a circuit board and current arcs across the dust to ground and poof, your gfci trips. If you have a device that trips, its good to first look at all the potential places insulation may be broken and blow out all the dust. Be sure to unplug the device first, for both your safety and the device.
Have a fridge in garage for 8-9 yrs and now its starting to trip. Had to get a extension from other outlet. But I think my frige is acting up its not taking breaks. I think it just keeps running
You likely need a new fridge or GFCI The dedicated outlet option allowing no GFCI protection has not been allowed by code for some time now. (enough people die; they make laws...)
There are GFCI receptacles with alarms that go off when the GFCI trips. These are to help with things like freezers etc.
