Indeed. All social evils. They've unhinged society. Those called it in a perjorative way earned it fully. Multiculturalism is why France and England are fast on their way to becoming Muslim countries. 40% of London is now Muslim. ALL meat served in UK schools is halal, dedicated to demon gods. A "Social Justice Warrior" is a warrior against goodness and Western civilization. They have unhinged the Western world. Did I mention In France, French police are not "allowed" to go into certain neighborhoods? In East London There are signs put up by Muslims telling people sharia is the law, not English common law, as it has been for nearly a thousand years. SJW's suck. It should be outlawed as reckless.

Jean Engstrom (1920-1997) played Flo Durfee. This was her 7th or 8th appearance in a TV show, she would go on to appear in about 40 of them between 1955-1966. Her most remembered role was that of Claire Winter, the interior designer attracted to the character played by leading lady Beverly Tyler in the 1957 Boris Karloff movie "Voodoo Island." Her character has a fatal run-in with a man-eating plant at the end of the movie. She was good in everything she did, but like most actors and actresses working in television, never got a recurring role on a TV series. Her daughter, Jena Engstrom, was one of the better young actresses on television on the early 1960 who, unlike her mother Jean, usually was cast in guest-starring roles in shows like "Gunsmoke" and "Have Gun - Will Travel." Jena left acting for health reasons. Series star Broderick Crawford apparently had a serious drinking problem while appearing in this series, which led to arrests for drunk driving and a suspended license, which meant that he could not drive on public roads without breaking the law. Maybe that's why the robber ditched the panel truck on a dirt road, so Broderick Crawford could drive a car in a scene and not get arrested. He was a good actor. After winning the Academy Award for best actor in "All the King's Men" he appeared in a great role as a mobster in the "Born Yesterday." I believed that he got billing in that movie over William Holden.

With a map, phone, a teletype, and a roadblock, Dan Mathews can triangulate and find criminals faster than with all the technology available to law enforcement today! Of course, it also helped that back in the 50s political officials acted in concert with the police rather than with the criminals, as they do today.

In your dreams! It was OK for the times but not even close to "anything they make today" and that is a fact, not an opinion,
I like the show, what it has iss Nostalgia, what they cannot reproduce today is nostalgia.....but in 60 years today's young people will be saying the same thing, "better than anything they make today" in the 50's viewers would have been saying, silent movies were better than Highway patrol, that's called human nature, we believe what we want to believe, it's the same sort of mentality that helps sell the idea that a man lives in the clouds and watches everything you do ever single minute of every single day and if you believe that you get a ticket to heaven for eternity....all crap but we want to believe it, don't we?

I wondered if there would have been a few drips of blood feom them moving the body, possibly making a trail. He had 2 holes in him. Had they had modern hollowpoints, there would not have been the clue of the missing bullet- there would be no exit wound. Honor among thieves never works- someobe always gets greedy. They would probably get life, since they murdered a felon. It would take some doing to prove their involvement in the robbery plot, which would be first degree, since the guard was killed. The surviving suspect may have known the whole plot though, and would probably talk

@@JohnPMitten That's got to be the funniest line for a long time! There are alcoholics who give up drinking; Dan never did, then he gives us these sanctimonious statements of advice on driving; he would only be allowed to drive on dirt roads for the show because of suspended license.

The women were hired by the producers. I think the main qualification was the willingness to work for peanuts. The budget for each episode was $25,000 and a good chunk of that went to Crawford. I would also think a lot of them saw it as a first step on the ladder up, an entry level job. And a good one if you had more than one line. From interviews I read Crawford encouraged the young actors on the show, giving them some stage business to perform or an extra line. Stuart Whitman, who appeared on a few of the episodes, said Crawford remembered how he was treated when he started out and wasn’t anxious for anyone to go through what he went through. You could only do so much because of the tight shooting schedule and paltry budget.
