This one really hit you hard. *hugs*. The message of the song is more relevant today than ever. 💕🙏
In my opinion,, One of the greatest anti-war songs of all time. 🔥❤️🔥
Terrence "Geezer" Butler, the bassist in the band wrote most of the lyrics of Black Sabbath's songs.
The Geez 4 teh win!
My favourite musician, along with my favourite drummer and band
Bassist Geezer Butler is the main lyricist in Sabbath(He read a lot). Ozzy contributed with vocal melodies
The song is 1970,the video is 2015.
The message is generational.
I wish people would listen to the message instead of this fan made video. Maybe its just my old ass having an iswith this video. Great song and love seeing young people discovering great music...
Agreed. I was in school when this released and was there when MTV began10 years later. This - is a product of RUclips.
Exactly! The vid, while impressive in its own way, is just so distracting from the message of the lyrics and the greatness of the song.
The best way to listen to this music like I did was on a 8 track in my room with my lava lamp on and just listen and feel it.
I agree mate, this fan made video doesn't really fit the message.
Appreciate how hard you been working on the vids lately, you'll be 80k in no time 👏🔥🔥🔥
You already know! 🩷 Thank you ☺️
Tony Iommi the riff master.
Bill Ward the beat monster
The video is fan made, the track recorded in the Summer of 1970.
People gotta stop watching this video. It’s got nothing to do with the song, and I’m certain Black Sabbath had no part in its creation. It distracts, and detracts from the music.
Both are about the war machine
"We" can always do what you hope. "They" divide and conquer. "They" control the message and "we" don't question any of it.
Released in 1970. Amazing how it stays relevant. Fuck politicians and their bosses who are against humanity.
🩷
Already mentioned, but remember to review in the context of the song and not the video. Many young "reacting" Tubers seem to get fixated on the video. The song was released in 1970, well before the video augmentation or interpretation of the song. The song is indeed a powerful classic.
The context of the song is very relevant today.
the video was made years after the song was written and recorded. The song was written as a war protest. Vietnam was going at the time and this was the band reacting to it.
Not so much. The film of the Hindenburg was made in 1937, before WWII. It was representative of German global expansion.
@@johnp9298It's got nothing to do with the song though. This video is totally unrelated to the track and on my opinion should be ignored.
Oh and I bought the Paranoid album when it was released. I was 15 at the time.
😊😎🎸🇺🇦🇬🇧
@@stevehanham9266I agree.
No, originally this was a song about witches and was called Walpurgis. Record company thought too "controversial" so they had to rewrite it and Warpigs was the result.
@@johnp9298 Michael was politely informing us the the video has absolutely nothing to do with the song.
Always seems like that epic bass line gets overlooked.
@@reaver707 I hope not!
Amen. It is the foundation/bass. 😊
FYI, this video has nothing to do with the song. If you like Black Sabbath, I suggest going to the beginning with the song "Black Sabbath" on the album Black Sabbath. It starts out like an old horror film with rain and thunder and a bell tolling in the background. Then it goes into their signature sound. You'll love it.
Thanks for a great reaction.
The album was released in 1970. The animation video is fairly recent. You should check out War Pigs live, 1970 in Paris. It will blow your mind.
It is not controversial, it is just the truth.
I wish people would turn off their TVs and the news just for four weeks and use their brain in their new spare time. After two weeks everyone would know, that a lot of things are going very wrong.
Have you ever been to a place where they played this song live ? We played many places, one of them a garlic harvesting shed, and played this song. This is a song where everyone there sings along, they are all part of the song ! Yes, we had a singer, and he sang, but so did everyone else. It is an experience, not just another song to listen to....
I will never hear this song the same.....
Geezer Butler wrote the lyrics.......
Black Sabbath is my favorite band and War Pigs is one of their best songs, but this fan made video should be banned from the internet lol. The video, while well done in its own right, has nothing to do with the lyrics of the song and is distracting for first time listeners. Check out War Pigs live in Paris 1970, which has earlier alternate lyrics and is an outstanding performance.
Perfect song for the times .... 👍
A bit of history here: the 'war pigs' was a tactic developped by the roman legions against Carthago and their war elephants. Pigs were set on fire and released in order to cause panic and chaos among the elephants. The pigs that did not die by their burns were trampled by the panicking elephants. By extension, a war pig is a soldier sacrificed on the battlefield.
Didn't know that thanks for the info.
No need to get into the video too much.
This is made long after releasing the song.
Sometimes war is just, other times not. It always sucks.
Black Sabbath is/was such an inspiration to many to follow.
The sourced video has nothing to do with Black Sabbath. It's a short film titled 'Motherland'.
Many wise words at the end.❤
When music causes an emotional reaction it just means it's working 🙂
Great music solicits an emotional response and connection ... I was right there with you, in tears.
BRAVO !!! ❤❤❤

Awesome reaction Maddy! When this song came out in 1970 it wasn't about Vietnam specifically. The title of the song was changed from Walpurgis (something to do with witchcraft) to War Pigs at the request of the record company. I just love the musicianship and Ozzy's vocals. The lyrics still ring true whatever the band's original intensions.
Awake your witness, this song from the 70, awake your soul!
Maddie, you’re completely right, and I’m so inspired by what you said. That was so lovely and kind. I need to be that kind of person. Thank you.
Ozzy has some form of Parkinson's but doesn't have Alzheimers or dementia that I'm aware of. He's very hard to understand when he talks, especially nowadays, but his mental state is ok (well.....ok by Ozzy standards lol).
As others have said, the song came out in 1970, the video much later. That was the Viet Nam war era, but as we all know: War...war never changes.
I like the Phil X and the Drills rendition too because the drums are louder.
Great reaction. I am 53 and grew up with this. Black Sabbath in my opinion ain't devil wosherps. Fail spell.
For a 50ish year old song and a 20ish year old video this all still seems way to familiar even today.
That video is about 9 years old, not 20.
I remember years ago a story where Ozzy's mum asked him if he was on drugs and he said , " No , mum , just drinking " ,... he had her come watch a rehearsal where they played " War Pigs " and when they finished , she said , " Ozzy , are you sure you're not on drugs ?"
His mother would have called him Norman.
its hardly drug induced song,

I remember my mom asking me if i still wanted to do it, on the morning of. i told her that i didnt care... i said i was going to do it. so i did it. got used and abused for GWOT. got in then got out. did my time, just like grandpa. he called it the next Nam. how right he was. didnt know the full meaning of his words then. i know now in my 40s and after putting him and so many others in the warriors ground. you start to ask yourself why. sadly the answer is not comforting in any way. there is no why, where, or when. you go where they send you. and its not up to you. its up to the "people". and the people are dumb. im old now. and i will not send anyone to some bullshit war to line pockets.

I went to my first concert when I was about 12 or so and it was in the early 70's and it was Black Sabbath !

Also if ya dig and enjoyed this video War Pigs which was a heavy song like many of there songs 😀 you may also enjoy the song " Most of All " By Glenn Kaiser and Where Roses Grow Live by Rez Band Awesome songs check them out. Also I remember hearing the song by Led Zepp " In My Time of Dyin " during my drug years and made me think about death and Jesus. Then a hippy friend that dug Jesus told me more of Jesus love and forgiveness and how I could also know Jesus love. So in 1981 I cried out to Jesus and wow man He came into my life and I had and have so much joy and peace and now know that through Jesus when I die I will be with Him in Heaven. Hey Jesus loves each of you also and yall can know Him if you are at all open. Just cry out to Him and a good question to ask yourself if you were to die today would you go to heaven ? And if yes why ? To find out more please read the Gospel of John in the Bible or check out the movie on RUclips. 😀
I hope that you didn't get distracted by this fan-made video.
Me too, it has little to do with the song.
@@vicprovost2561they both have to do with war.
@@remshot1998Do you not understand what a loose connection that is?
@@remshot1998 Yep, and that is all.

This is a miss match video for the song but it works out ok...Check out After Forever Ferries Wear Boots Snowblind
Black Sabbath is not only Ozzy....the classic quartet is the guitarist Tony Iommi (the only constant member in the band), the bassist (and main lyricist) Geezer Butler, the drummer Bill Ward and Ozzy. Try to hear the song again without the video. This is just a fan video that made some years ago and mainly distracts you from the excellent musicianship of Black Sabbath. Or instead you can watch the live version in Paris, in 1970...you can feel the ordinary sound that days....
While I’m as willing to entertain a good conspiracy theory as the next guy, the fact that Ozzy spent a good chunk of his adult life under the influence of one drug or the other as well as ridiculous amounts of alcohol. None of which are particularly good for long term health of the brain.
An amazing ass kicking, epic song to start off one of the most influential metal albums of all time. Geezer Butler the bassist, wrote most of the lyrics during the Ozzy era because Ozzy couldn't read or write, and someone had to write the lyrics.
Ozzy can read and write ,WTF
@@billwicketvogel1787 sorry to break it to you, but that is the reason why Geezer wrote the lyrics and that is on video of him saying that himself.
ignore the video, its the song,
This is an antiwar song, specifically VietNam.
Oh my goodness, your comments in the middle with your emotion, really got me worked up. This is such an anthemic song, but wow. ❤
Maddy talking in code 🤣😂
👀😂
I was a young teenager when this came out and still love it today....what makes me sad about it is that we have LEARNED NOTHING....50 years later it rings more true than ever
Wow!
"United We Stand,, Divided We Fall" 🇺🇸

Geezer was the lyricist. It comes as a shock to a lot of people to realize Ozzy really wasn't a songwriter. He may have contributed here and there, but others usually came up with lyrics.
Damn, you are beautiful !! Great song ..... WAR SUCKS !!!!
Agreed, and thank you!!
These are some pretty huge classic songs and so many lately!!
I think we need a compilation video of all the “best moments” from day one to now.
A video photo album look into the shirt closet history.
Editor Maddy? 😆😆
😂😂😂
@@MaddyReactionspretty sure that reaction just made the top highlights reel 😊 I let fly a tear as well 😢 don’t tell anyone
Ozzy has Acidheimers.
😂
This song doesn't need any fan made fantasy bullshit video. It is about reality. One of the most straightforward war protest songs of all time. I really don't care for the video in that it creates some pretend scenario when it only needs documentary footage to reinforce it's message.
Black Sabbath was absolutely against the Vietnam war
❤ I like your heart
It was co-written by Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi, Bill Ward & Ozzy Osbourne.
When Ozzy was sacked by Black Sabbath, their first choice to replace him was Michael Bolton! Common sense prevailed and Ronnie James Dio got the job.
Dave Walker from Savoy Brown joined Sabbath after Ozzy left the first time in '77. He came back for Never Say Die, then he was fired in '79 and RJD joined. The Michael Bolton thing was in the '80's sometime after Ian Gillan left.
Discount the video, it is cool in its own way but has nothing to do with the awesome and forever song. This was fan generated. BUT it distracts from The Best anti-war song ever for me, off the album that made them stars. You should do Iron Man off it or the title track, Paranoid, if you have not heard it. This band influenced a half century of heavy music and continue to make new fans every time someone sees them for the first time. They just are that great, enjoy! 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎸🎹🎶🔥
They do have something in common. Both are about the war machine
It was just a fan video, not produced by the band.
I think Maddie is gonna love this one. Not an official video, but I think it’s amazing.
I think the video just confuses people. It almost fits but not really.
This 'video' gets way too much attention for a studio cut made, what? - 50 years before it? Rather watch a Zack Snyder slo-mo fest while this song plays.
One of the greatest heavy metal songs of all time... I think the video is interesting but the animation takes away from the epic performance of Black Sabbath. This is a great listen... added to a mediocre visual presentation of someone else's interpretation of the song.
HAHAHAHA,METAL. WHAT AN IDIOT. SABBATH IS HARD ROCK THET INSPIRED THE CREATION OF METAL. FOOL @@Jamesscearce

I have to say that this is my favorite Black Sabbath song, It's totally awesome.
Funny thing is, I remember when it was released.
Great request JK one of my favorites , love Maddys insight on the subject👍✌️💜
If any song that sounded like a metal fest could bring you to tears because of the lyrics, this one is it.
Remember, Vietnam was going on at the time.
The only real Anti-war song of all time. Why? The first and best....... Black Sabbath... Demon's in their TIME. Really?????

Geezer Butlon - Bass

Ozzy Osbourne - Vocals
He called them out long ago. Their end nears but they deny the obvious
react to THE ARK & THE TINDERBOX | Frostpunk 2 Song! The Stupendium
I’d encourage you to do a react on the 1956 version of 1984
The 1985 version is ok but it seems to me the 1956 is spot on
Also, the 1962 movie “Manchurian Candidate” would make an interesting react vid
Nice. Interesting fact about Alzheimer's, it's only been around for about 50 years.
Nobody wants a war! Except so called leaders, presidents, dictators, politicians ... < THEY should be at the very frist row and fight then and not talking BS in their cozy mansion in a safe spot!
Love & Peace, please!
Written during Vietnam war
it's supposed to shed light on all warmongering states. unfortunately though many similarities to the US nowadays though.
IMO, that fan fiction video is extremely distracting. The song stands alone.. unless you're talking about the legendary live video from Paris, 1970 😉👍
This song & Deep Purple's Child in Time are two really great "War Protest" songs of 1970! This video distracts from the words of the song! So relevant today, as the world unfolds!!!
This song will be even more relevant if Kamala is 'installed'.....scary
I love Maddy and what she does here. I guess that you that are commentingdo too and are subscribed; but if not SUBSCRIBE!
Ozzy Osbourne is struggling w/ Parkinson's disease as well as other disorders to his nervous system... He suffered an ATV accident years ago and a recent fall made his injuries worse... So, he is unable to perform at present but still sings and records music in the studio.
Such a groundbreaking song by Black Sabbath in 1970... it was written about the Vietnam war at the time and Sabbath's second album was originally called 'War pigs'... but the record company feared retaliation from pro-war factions, so they changed the album title to 'Paranoid' (after the hit single from the record) The cover had a soldier in uniform brandishing a sword and shield - nothing to do w/ the album title 😂
Ozzy Osbourne was not actively involved w/ lyrics in Black Sabbath - he had ideas that he would suggest and would contribute vocal melodies to the music.... Geezer Butler (bass) was tasked w/ writing the lyrics to Ozzy's vocal melodies. Tony Iommi (guitar) would come up w/ a guitar riff and Bill Ward (drums) would give a tempo & arrangement to the riff - Geezer would join in and Ozzy would have a vocal idea.
Years later, Ozzy complained that he was never taken seriously in Black Sabbath. He didn't play an instrument and the band members didn't have the patience to deal w/ his creative thinking... By 1976, the band went in a direction w/ the album 'Technical ecstasy' and Ozzy hated the record... drummer Bill Ward sang on tracks that Ozzy refused to sing. In hindsight, Ozzy was right and the album failed commercially. The last Sabbath album 'Never say die!' in 1978 was another commercial failure and the band could not focus past the drugs and alcohol to write a new record... Ozzy was fired in 1979 and Tony Iommi began working w/ singer Ronnie James Dio on the Sabbath album 'Heaven and Hell'.
As it turned out, Ozzy did have talent in the studio... His biggest assets turned out to be his mental handicaps - because he would easily get bored, or lose concentration, a track had to be really good to get his attention or he would not work on it... When guitarist Randy Rhoads joined Ozzy's solo band in 1980, he showed Ozzy some of his original music that was nothing like Black Sabbath... Ozzy would hear Randy play a track and his ears would perk up and he'd go, "Let's do that one". Randy was also a guitar teacher, so he had a lot of patience to listen to Ozzy's suggestions in the studio.
That was how Ozzy's solo hits like - 'Crazy train'..."I don't know" ... 'Mr. Crowley'... 'Flying high again'... etc. came together... and his ideas were brilliant and were never appreciated in Black Sabbath. Bassist Bob Daisley was hired to write lyrics to Ozzy's vocal & song ideas.
If u listen to Randy Rhoads' work w/ his band Quiet Riot, u can hear the upgrade in quality when he joined Ozzy's band... It comes down to musical chemistry and Ozzy had brilliant songwriting chemistry w/ Randy Rhoads... Tragically, Randy Rhoads died in 1982 in a small engine plane crash on tour... Thankfully, Ozzy was able to work w/ other talents on subsequent records like guitarists Jake E. Lee... Zakk Wylde... etc.
It’s an amazing song with a lot of relevance. Enjoy!
Ah the Vietnam War. Many songs written about protesting this war. BTW, Ozzy has Parkinson's. He also suffered injuries from a vehicle accident and had multiple surgeries to bring him back to normal? Ozzy normal. His mental health isn't suffering, yet his physical health prevents him from touring. Seen Sabbath in '74. '75, '95, and the last one in '13. But the song, unfortunately, still rings true in '24!!! What we used to call The War Dept. is now called the DOD, perhaps a way to sugarcoat the atrocities of war itself: the carnage, PTSD, loss of limbs and other injuries sustained and how they reverberated through society then, and sadly, now. You listened to the lyrics and they hit you in the gut, just like when you reacted to The Rooster. Both classics with a strong message, yet the dogs of war still exist, and empirical evidence suggests they always will. Sad. Truly sad. Can't we all just get along!?!? Apparently not. Peace.🤘😎🤘
i wish people would not react to this unofficial fan made video, reactors are reacting to the video and not the song
Sorry I’m like a whole day late Maddy. A lot of these “stock scam” people got me running all over Utube. And what do I see, when I go to leave you a compliment? “Oh hey you (stupid people) I retired at like 15… or 27? And you can too…” Then 14 comments, backing it up. But it’s a big part of what I do for a living, to stop these people. Sorry they hit you.
It "starts" with the preaching of the Good News of Jesus Christ. Polite took a vacation 30 to 40 years ago. Repent and be saved. She overcame in the video by blood. Jesus over came the world, it's systems, and even death by His blood. In Him you can have peace even during war. Without Jesus the "war" never ends and those without Him will lose it all. "What would it profit a man to gain the whole world but yet lose his own soul?" We can not "stand united" and "coexist" is a fairy tale. "What fellowship does light have with darkness?" Lines have been drawn 2000 years ago. Sorry but you must chose a side. "If you chose not to decide you still have made a choice."
Epic masterpiece!!! And a work out on the drums!!
Thanks for getting to the classics!!! I forgot how this video tears out my heart. The audio/lyrics are serious enough. I see you're a Ren fan too, if you haven't already you should update yourself on the Ren/Kujo controversy regarding Sick Boi and the Bulgarian Choir with his 30 minute video explaining everything and then check out his video Kujo Beatdown.
I'm loving you and your channel. Thank you for such fabulous and heartfelt content!!
What’s really sad is this video could possibly happen in our lifetime. That sucks.
This a fan-made AI video of recent vintage.
The message in the video is aligned with the song. Basically we must ALWAYS resist Tyranny/Autocracies (Evil is appropriate for some) because the first and most sympathy-inducing victims of these states are their own citizens that want what everyone wants!
Nobody rocked harder back in the day than Sabbath
Black Sabbath 1968-eternity🤘
I hear what you're saying, but Ozzy is in his mid 70s, with a lifetime of alcohol and drug abuse... and they can't all be Keith Richards ;)
I think you're reading a bit too much into the mask thing... it's obviously a machining plant, and it's been common safety protocol for decades. (And I think the short which the visuals were from was released in 2016 iirc, so no hidden messages, either
