thanks Neil at Italia Autos. Авто/Мото
I love your videos you explain things really well 👍
Very nice cars! We have a Punto Abarth Scorpione, its a lovely car!
Always nice to see one if these, tidy little car
Cracking video Neil and you don't see many if any of these nice car and in pretty good condition
Another nice vid Neil, thank you!
Thanks
Love Puntos. Fun to drive, good handling.
I prefer them over Mito’s.
Still got mine in metallic silver colour bought brand new in june 2012 (one of the latest models with the last facelift without the "mustache" released before they eventually stopped the production). Got it with the "lounge" trim which included many options (automatic dual zone A/C, bluetooth connectivity, satnav, panoramic opening glass roof, rear spoiler and aluminium dootstep plates with Punto logo). It has now 80000km after almost 11 years and still works like magic. Zero corrosion as it's kept in a closed temperature controled garage and....zero problem so far. Super cheap to maintain and a decent petrol consumption even when being slightly heavy on the pedal. All in all a fun, brisk and reliable daily driver i intend to keep a few more years 😃
Really great video about the punto thanks 😊
Thanks for watching
Nice car Neil. I'd definitely have one of these over a Mito, if only for the looks.
There cheap too.
sick video! I drive a punto evo sporting in the blue color, its my second car and im in love, its nice to see there are still some around in good condition! the only downside in my opinion is that the fuel consumption is not what it claims to be, but alright, not the biggest problem
Trying to get hold of one myself. How is the performance?
I had one of these last year and loved it. Unfortunately the piston rings and multiair unit went at only 65k so it got traded in
Does look like a nice solid car that one. Great video.
Thanks for watching
Nice looking car got a r reg sporting myself in yellow 😀
Nice.
Just bought one of these 😎
Neil...im a new subscriber , love the channel and your presentation . Do you have any vids on clutch changes for DMF 159s ?? 2.4
Hi welcome. No I don't sorry.
Love your videos. I wish I could see more Alpha Romeo/Fiats in the USA but they are few and far between.:-(
Wish I was more popular in the US.
Yes, why do most car shoppers in the U.S. want an SUV the size of a battleship?! Sure wish we had more Alfa/FIAT/Abarth type cars on the road here in Ohio!
@@glennlindamood I have read that the modern pickup truck is similar dimensions to the Sherman tank that was used in WWII.
Always had a soft spot for Punto’s. I’m still searching for a clean Mk1 Sporting but I could be waiting a while!
Don’t think they exist anymore. You have to restore them.
A GT was up for 5k recently, fully re done
I had a black Punto Sporting first series 1.2 16V 86CV, I exchanged it 8 years ago and bought a Giulietta TB
My 1994 Punto GT turbo had the exact same shriveling and peeling vinyl on the door post lol.
Enjoyed that one Neil, best built Punto to date, shame there isn't a replacement.
New Punto will come out in two years, it will be using the Peugeot 208 frame.
Will be electric too then
@@ItaliaAutos yeah real fun will be history than
Because these cars are known for fun to drive
But ev version maybe not that much fu to drive
Fair play to the current owner. That’s a tidy little motor for its age.
You need to fix your turbo actuator. Mine was doing the same thing when I first got it.
Great video Neil, have you found me a late great spec 159 yet?
Cheers and nope sorry.
Another brilliant video from you! But how well has that held up. Considering it's red you'd expect it to be extremely faded, so I assume it's been garaged. Also headlights show that. But underneath............
It’s was a very tidy car even better once the front end it painted better.
Underneath it's no better or worse than the majority of 11 yr old cars that have been subjected to over a decades use on salted British winter roads. Some careful rust prevention measures at this stage would work wonders for its long term servival.
Rare to find a red Punto that the bumpers match the rest of the car, underneath is fine it’s just minor surface rust, nothing a wire brush wouldn’t sort
Do you know if the Evo headlights fit on the older GP? I know the rear lights do after wiring them in.
I just picked up a fiat GP 1.4 T jet a few weeks ago to do up and give to my sister. It’s a fun little car and very nippy I think. If I was keeping it then I’d map it, bigger turbo and whatnot to try to get 200bhp out of it lol.
Mito/Punto/Mito🤣🤣🤣
RESPECT mate🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
Do you ever see the older Fiat Punto HGT? We had a yellow one and we have never seen one on the road since
I always wondered what that slot in the dash was for
nice example neil
in italy it is a very normal fiat punto evo sport, its engine is a 135hp 1.4 multiair
I have a 2010 Punto Evo but the GT ie non turbo, NA 1.4 multi air ..anyone know how hard it is to upgrade it to the Sporting turbo spec?
Do they still have the tin plate at the brake servo that lasts about 3 years is a £10 to buy but the dealer wants £300 to fit
Dear Mr. Neil, I own an alfa romeo 147, 2005, 1.9 jtdm 150 hp and I am in a dilemma whether my car has a plastics swirl flaps on the intake or no. I like your video and all you doing with cars. Regards
If you have a all aluminium intake manifold than yes. You have a plastic swirl flaps. The newer engines have plastic intake with aluminium swirl housing and have a steel flaps. l recommended, that you get a manifold of old JTD 16V (year 2002-2004) engines which dont have swirls, replace it and erase it from ecu. Problem forever gone. l done this to my 159 and blend it EGR valve.
@@bernymonty22 Thanks for the tip
Tyres now have to be less than 10 years old ,though only on the steer odd i know ..I had the original Grande Punto sporting when they came out ..Great car ...Strangely enough i googled it's reg SC06XPP and it's in Russia !!!!!!!!!!!...I am on my 3rd Mito ,A Punto with a different body
How much would the top mounts be to replace? I assume they haven’t changed on newer models? Mines a 14 reg 1.4 8v Jet Black 2. Just getting an idea as it has an advisory for the mounts on both sides for minor corrosion
They don’t corrode they are made of plastic. They groan and rumble like when you turn the wheel stationary and low speeds. Cost about £15 each so £30 a pair. Very simple and quick to change them with the right tools.
MiTo on the brain lol.... Surprised the steering wheel isn't peeling as Fiat of that era seem to develop that even in lower mileage cars. Classic Italian car air intake hose spit, so many Alfa Busso cars had that issue!!
My Punto Jet Black has the silver inserts around the Blue&Me controls and at the bottom (flat bottom steering wheel) and it’s all scratched and worn off
What size rims are on this Punto? I drive a 2011 grande Punto.
16 or 17
Anyone had an issues with the 6 speed box, works perfectly but has started making very odd noises.. at least I think its the box, could be the clutch..IDK
My first car was a 97 plate punto. It would leave a little present for me on the driveway every morning. A pile of rust as it dissolved before my very eyes. This was 21 years ago, so the owner of this one must have stored it in bubble wrap.
you've said it correct, 21 years ago, with these punto's from 2011 i've not seen big problems with rust
The first series Punto was born in 1993!
I’ll tell you one thing the Fiat Tipo ( modern one ) drive better than a Giulietta and better value for money too.
I work for BCA punto’s are a rare car going trough the trade
Lol, define better. It has semi rigid axle, unlike independent multilink on giulietta, engines are gutless, steering is single rack&pinnion, so stability, mobility and sportivity on tipo are out of the question. If it is better because it s your car, ok then. But let s not kid ourselves, the 2 cars have nothing in common. Tipo is ancient content in shiny new wrapper. Too bad, because it looks good, especially the estate.
Are you sure? I wouldn't really say....
@@EnzoSporting
Positive pal. You wouldn’t think it though.
I work for BCA a shift about 60 cars a day, you get the feel for cars and their common problem too.
@@silviannistor
Drive one you’ll be surprised. It even has a place to rest the “ Clutch Foot “ unlike any G
P.s I drive a 3.2 Brera Q4 75k on the clock had it since 2013. I had a 2004 3.2 Audi Quattro for 2018 whilst I stored the Brera. Love my Brera it’s never going to be sold
A nice lesser seen Alfiat romeo munto 🤣
Diesel MJD is better than petrol
The Evo sadly was a mistake. Fiat managed again, to turn a beautiful front end like in the Grande Punto in an ugly one. For the rest the Evo, is a great little car.
I personally think they did a pretty good job on the facelift. Don't forget the grande was already an old car by the time they facelifted it.
to be honest, i like the punto evo more, i know a lot of people hate the black plastic bits but in my opinion it gives it a more contrasted look. and the headlights are a bit more squared of and that gives it a more modern look, as well as the taillights
Yeah evo looks way more aggressive especially in Abarth form 😍👌🇮🇹
@@marinobottali7823 In my opinion the evo is very ugly. The designers, have taken the sporty and very elegant front end of the Grande Punto, and put on a tooth-brace. At the rear and they have added a pair of nappy. Infact the Fiat designers realised, the absurdity of their mistake, and come out with another restiling, very soon.
@@roby72s that's your opinion
But you won't convince me lol!
