at first i thought his vocals were funny... Now they're beginning to grow on me. And his voice gets better with every record. These guys sound very unique.
My buddy had this song on in his car and I thought it was Skeletor from He-Man singing lol but that's awesome. It makes me like the band even more. I only heard of this band about a few months ago and I felt like I was living under a rock for so long.
Same thing, it didn't quite turn me off when I heard it but I was like "wtf!?" lol now it's my favorite thing about them aside from Mark's cinematic lyrics.
I thought it was hilarious at first, but it's kinda of a blend of heavy metal and space/prog rock, it's really good. The lyrics are so well done though, they fit the music perfectly. Apple Music just randomly picked up Crystal Logic in a playlist as I got more into NWOBHM, and more recently NWOTHM.
The vocals are very distinct and I thought maybe the song could sound better with a less distinct vocal, so checked a cover by Visigoth and that was good and all, but I was wrong. The distinct vocal is so good on this song!
Hi. I like all kind of good music. And i must say, Manilla Road is an awesome band in the heavy-metal genre. There's a power, a spirit, a wild romantic, an epicness, a beautiful rawness in their songs. The early songs from the late 70s and early 80s are legendary. I'm a bit surprised that such a great band never got mainstream and stayed underground. I'm glad that they still rock and use a "modern" medium like RUclips to put up videos. So long.... Hail and Up The Hammers
It was mainly because they were late to the party with their music. They made great music that had already been replaced by the next trend. It's a shame, this song kicks ass.
Lol even from 1983 if you are just taking classic heavy metal songs into consideration then the likes of holy diver, the trooper, evil by mercuful fate destroys this musically and compositionally haha
When I first heard this, I didn't quite know what to make of the vocals. It didn't take very long though for Mark's unique voice to become one of my favorite aspects of this band, along with his lyrics' ability to transport the listener into that world. It's like the best D&D dungeon master, totally invested in the atmosphere and themes writing a metal album. Top 5 favorite classic Heavy Metal records ever!
@charlie von arawn Is cool but they are pretty inferior as musicians and composers compared to their uk counterparts, the likes of holy diver destroy this from 83 in terms of musicmanship
@charlie von arawn Lol I do haha, Holy diver's riff and solo is way more iconic and is compositionally and musically and infinitely superior song\album hence why dio are one of the titans of heavy metal, manilla road cant even hold a candle to the uk heavyweights(dio's origin is from new york but due to dio himself I consider them uk), the trooper by maiden destroys it from the same year, and m sure you are not gonna argue about the suoeriority of musicmanship between maiden and manilla road haha, ozzy's bark at the moon, and for non uk evil by mercyful fate kills it as well as far as riffs and leads go, and if you are speaking about metal songs from the usa from this year then the likes of photograph and the four horsemen butcher this one as well compositionally haha, its just a footnote in the underground and thats about it
@charlie von arawn Nah not shitting, I love this album but its pretty much facts, the mighty murray smith, mercyful fate guitarists, the guitatists in dio and def leppard are way better as guitarists and composers than them, but nonetheless this album is a good 2nd tier us heavy metal album ;)
@@derekobs9688 Why are you here? Who hurt you? Nobody even asked your opinion and you posted similar nonsense on multiple other comments that were praising the song. Manilla Road were true metal pioneers. Nobody sounded like them and nobody dared. Always got a weird 1960's british invasion feel from this album. Killer just killer.

Crazy album opening, heard about this band on Metal School and they are very good, too bad they were not picked up by a big label because they rock hard
Hello, fellow Wichitans! Mark is my ex-brother-in-law (my sister was married to him), lol. This cracks me up because I never knew they had this many fans until my sister told me how much they've been touring. Crazy.

Its nasal. a very unique way of singing that somehow fits heavy metal haha
Why does everyone complain about the vocals? They're epic. no cheesy shit.
exactly, manilla road will always triumph
i wouldn't want them any other way!
The voice is part of the charm. If he was a typical, cliched screamer they might as well be called Judas Priest. Anyway, great band, great find on YT.
They're pretty nerdy tbh, they work contextually though.
@@WocklessGamingforAnimeMoms the vocals are epic bro in every way.
