One fun discrepancy between Wolf and Red's stories that I don't think I've ever seen someone point out: the cliff Wolf falls off into the river is a lot higher in his story than it Red's. Not a significant detail at all, but just a neat little touch that shows actual effort and creativity in the movie's visuals, even if they aren't the best looking.

This movie was actually my introduction to Patrick Warburton! Also I love how you showed the Flippers clip and said that you weren't gonna give anymore context when the Flippers gag is one of the few scenes in the movie I remember vividly because it was comedy gold to me as a kid.
The german title was *Die Rotkäppchen-Verschwörung* which translates to The Red Riding Hood Conspiracy, the german dub was free on RUclips (without any copyright) and its so damn hilarious so hard 😂😂😂😂
This was the last movie that my parents and I all watched as a family before they divorced a year later. I thought it was trash, but my parents loved it. It makes sense as an adult than a child.
I saw this movie in theaters, the only thing from this movie I remember is when the bunny said "you've been hoodwinked" and everything else is behind a mental block.
We literally reviewed this movie in my communications class lmao- The schnitzel song became a meme, people even started asking to have it played in other classes.
in my 6 year old mind, the reason that the Woodsman didn't have a huge role was because Hoodwinked really likes flipping the original narrative of the og Little Red Riding Hood (ex. the Wolf not being the actual villain), and in the original story the Hunstman was The Hero, he plays a huge role and saves the day, so they flipped his role to be small.
I'm pretty sure my family is helping to keep physical soundtrack price inflated as we keep tracking down and buying copies. The fact the many of the songs were written and performed by the writers/directors partly ties into the low budget, but also shows how carefully crafted every aspect of the film was. The effort shows, and I love getting to see reviewers bring attention to what these guys accomplished on a budget. Thanks!
The director revealed how the cast got so stacked in a podcast a while back. Apparently, the script fell into Patrick Warburton’s hands and he loved it. He called up the filmmakers and asked to do it. But it went beyond that. He thought the script was amazing and loved the directing team. He knew they needed help with casting because he was aware of their budget and he basically went recruiting for them. He’d go to parties and pitch the movie so hard that the directors would literally wake up to voice mails from actors saying, “Hi. This Andy Dick. We haven’t met but I was talking to Patrick last night and he said you’re working on one of the funniest scripts he’s ever read. If you’re free for lunch, I’d love to see if there’s a role for me.” Most of the actors asked to be part of the movie because Patrick Warburton was so passionate about it.
This is the earliest I can trace back my love of mysteries to--seeing this movie as a six-year-old. I remember being enthralled by the puzzle-piece way the story was told as much as by the story itself. I remember learning how to do a villain reveal the way this movie did. The comedy cracks me up no matter how many times I see it. This remains one of my favorite movies, and as a mystery writer now, I still hold it in a special place in my heart. So glad to see others love it too!
I think you’re the first movie reviewer I’ve seen that actually provides links to where to find the movie. Thank you so much, I respect you so much for that that I am going to subscribe
I’ve been trying to get better at it! It feels wrong to not provide a source to provide or watch the movie if I’m gonna be using it to grow my channel you know?
I remember in middle school one of my friends had never seen it before so I had found it unblocked on my school chromebook and we watched it everyday in lunch 😭
I have the best memories of this movie! I first saw it at a drive-in theater that was on the roof of a mall in South Africa. We were 6 siblings cramped in the car with my Aunt and Uncle .
Hoodwinked could have *easily* ended up as yet another fairy tale parody trying to bank off of Shrek's success. But the fact that everyone involved with it gave it their 100% really shines through and has , in my opinion, allowed it to stand the test of time.
This movie is the only true definition of 'aging like a fine wine' because technically its getting worse as time goes on but at the same time its getting better.
"I just learned that I was 3 and 1/2 years old when 'Hoodwinked!' was released." Wow. Not even 30 seconds in and I already feel super old! I remember watching this movie in the theater when I was 10! 😭😭😭
The writing is so good I could see Wolf reaching Granny's home first as a low-key Emperor's New Groove reference: "You got me. By all accounts, it doesn't make any sense" - Kronk, also voiced by Patrick Warburton.
Hoodwinked was a favorite for my family. My dad burned it on a DVD and we watched it so many times growing up. Unfortunately, someone fucked up the disc and the movie skips the wolf's part (AKA: the BEST part), so I haven't watched it in a while. We literally still quote this movie to each other (also, don't dare say "schnitzel" around me unless you want to hear me sing the schnitzel song lmao).
It's so weird to see someone on youtube roughly my age making this type of content. Every time you mention how old/young you were when a movie came put I have to go through the same process of "That can't be right" [Look up release date] "Oh wow, it is" I simultaneously enjoy and hate it.
I watched this with my brothers as a kid. It's been more than 10 years now and we're all adults but we still remember the lyrics to "Be Prepared". That's how good the show is.
The writing is so good in this movie. It’s really quotable too. Not to mention it’s fun to to watch and the joke are priceless. Also when I found out that I was about three when this movie came out, I’m now in the same boat where I feel like a fetus. Thank you for that. 😂
Fun review, I'm glad this movie is getting the recognition it deserves. But also - mentioning every other song and leaving out the absoloute BOP that is 'Tree Critter' is a straight crime
conversely, great animation won't save a bad film. Animation is ultimately the medium used to tell the story, not the story itself. Truly great stories will sound great whether recited by shakespeare or an 8th grade english teacher.
Pretty sure Anne Hathaway and Patrick Warburton probably took this project on for the hell of it, this was relatively early in Anne’s career, Hoodwinked came out between The Princess Diaries 2 and The Devil Wears Prada, she was only beginning to hit stardom back then And as for Patrick he just does random shit sometimes, man’s got like 183 acting credits over the last 3-4 decades of just the most random projects you can think of, Hoodwinked fits right in honestly
I love this movie and even today i'd put it up there as one of my faves, the humor, the characters, the story, everything just fits for me, except the animation, but idc it's still iconic. Also the spanish dub is incredible, i highly recommend it to my fellow bilingual folk
I wished We need to take it seriously for Red Puckett do Gymnastics/Martial Arts for passing the test as Joining the Sisters Of The Hood In Hoodwinked 3
I won't lie, the animation never bothered me. True even back then other movies look better, but i just chalked it up to what I now am old enough to understand as an art style. Finding out it was the team's first 3d animation and on such a low budget is interesting too. Very impressive job.

DUDEEE THE PERSONA 5 TRANSITIONS , "LAYER CAKE" BEING USED AS BACKGROUND MUSIC , THE BREATH OF THE WILD SOUND FOR EVERY NAME , like this video makes me so happy just from a sound design perspective !! discussing hoodwinked which I love with all these lil details from games I LOVE , this is making me happy 💃🏻
This movie was actually my introduction to Patrick Warburton! Also I love how you showed the Flippers clip and said that you weren't gonna give anymore context when the Flippers gag is one of the few scenes in the movie I remember vividly because it was comedy gold to me as a kid.
They both sound like Kronk and Cogsworth/Jumba from Disney
The name of this movie in my country translates to "The True Story of the Little Red Riding Hood."
So this is canon?
@HiKeiLoKei for my country, yeah XDD
I totally believed this movie as a kid
The german title was *Die Rotkäppchen-Verschwörung* which translates to The Red Riding Hood Conspiracy, the german dub was free on RUclips (without any copyright) and its so damn hilarious so hard 😂😂😂😂
This was the last movie that my parents and I all watched as a family before they divorced a year later. I thought it was trash, but my parents loved it. It makes sense as an adult than a child.
Damn, I didn’t think the movie was that bad…
I saw this movie in theaters, the only thing from this movie I remember is when the bunny said "you've been hoodwinked" and everything else is behind a mental block.
It holds up. You will love it.
The mountain goat's "I WAS PREPARED!" line has lived in my head and I reference it constantly
We literally reviewed this movie in my communications class lmao-
The schnitzel song became a meme, people even started asking to have it played in other classes.
Even when the song stops with a funny record scratch sound after the final word of the song "Schnitzel..." 🤣🤣🤣🤣
in my 6 year old mind, the reason that the Woodsman didn't have a huge role was because Hoodwinked really likes flipping the original narrative of the og Little Red Riding Hood (ex. the Wolf not being the actual villain), and in the original story the Hunstman was The Hero, he plays a huge role and saves the day, so they flipped his role to be small.
Nah cause everyone would turn up on weekly when cartoon network played this classic
Also Andy Dick being Boingo is scarily unsurprising
Saturday wasn’t Saturday until hoodwinked played
Didn't it also aired on Dinsey Channel/XD and the CW network?
Hoodwinked walked so Knives Out could run.
Thanks!
Bro woke up and was like "ight Ima make a movie!"
Fr he had nothing else on his itinerary
11:55 "How did wolf get to granny's first?"
Well you got me🤷🏻♂️. By all accounts it doesn't make sense 💁🏻♂️
I still love the line "oh, wAtCh OuT fOr KeItH!" Like you said, the line delivery in the while movie was great, but especially for that line.
Problem: Neither of those links give us anything, at least here in the USA. Stupid lawsuits and shit....
Let’s goooo, my favorite movie reviewer
:) that’s sweet of you 😭
Honestly the animation kinda has a charm to it, I’d rather the rendering be flawed than stale
Actually insane that Maya went from this to being the program that would animate Arcane
This movie is the only true definition of 'aging like a fine wine' because technically its getting worse as time goes on but at the same time its getting better.
They don’t make cinema like they used to 😢 another great video 💗
"I just learned that I was 3 and 1/2 years old when 'Hoodwinked!' was released."
Wow. Not even 30 seconds in and I already feel super old! I remember watching this movie in the theater when I was 10! 😭😭😭
Yo, I just found your chanel like 20 minutes ago and your humour has me fucxin ROLLING I absolutely loved hoodwinked as a kid, this was so nostalgic
The Dynamite joke is easily one of the funniest lines of all time
The writing is so good I could see Wolf reaching Granny's home first as a low-key Emperor's New Groove reference:
"You got me. By all accounts, it doesn't make any sense" - Kronk, also voiced by Patrick Warburton.
Wasn't he also Joe Swanson?
Hoodwinked was a favorite for my family. My dad burned it on a DVD and we watched it so many times growing up. Unfortunately, someone fucked up the disc and the movie skips the wolf's part (AKA: the BEST part), so I haven't watched it in a while. We literally still quote this movie to each other (also, don't dare say "schnitzel" around me unless you want to hear me sing the schnitzel song lmao).
It's so weird to see someone on youtube roughly my age making this type of content. Every time you mention how old/young you were when a movie came put I have to go through the same process of
"That can't be right"
[Look up release date]
"Oh wow, it is"
I simultaneously enjoy and hate it.
I watched this with my brothers as a kid. It's been more than 10 years now and we're all adults but we still remember the lyrics to "Be Prepared". That's how good the show is.
I loved hoodwinked as a kid and still do now. It’s so great and I’m glad someone is giving it the respect it deserves
I love this movie I’m so happy people are talking about it 😭
Kirk's part was kinda needed. Mostly because there is a woodsman in the Red Riding Hood story.
I was 1 years old when this came out, and I still remember this movie
I'd say petition to reanimate Hoodwinked with the same voice cast and the best of the visual gags
It would be like 3 times more expensive since the voice cast is much more popular these days.
Pretty sure Anne Hathaway and Patrick Warburton probably took this project on for the hell of it, this was relatively early in Anne’s career, Hoodwinked came out between The Princess Diaries 2 and The Devil Wears Prada, she was only beginning to hit stardom back then
And as for Patrick he just does random shit sometimes, man’s got like 183 acting credits over the last 3-4 decades of just the most random projects you can think of, Hoodwinked fits right in honestly
Weren't they also in Emperor's New Groove and Rio, both fun movies set in South America and Disney owns 20th Fox
Im so glad that hoodwinked is finally getting it's deserved recognition
Your sound effect and music choice is impeccable
That explains why I can't find a digital copy.
Slightly off topic but I love David Ogden Stiers so much and seeing him in this movie is such a treat.
Also keep it up with the great reviews bro :D
I love this movie and even today i'd put it up there as one of my faves, the humor, the characters, the story, everything just fits for me, except the animation, but idc it's still iconic.
Also the spanish dub is incredible, i highly recommend it to my fellow bilingual folk
I wished We need to take it seriously for Red Puckett do Gymnastics/Martial Arts for passing the test as Joining the Sisters Of The Hood In Hoodwinked 3
Hoodwinked 3 will never exist and it never will be
I won't lie, the animation never bothered me. True even back then other movies look better, but i just chalked it up to what I now am old enough to understand as an art style. Finding out it was the team's first 3d animation and on such a low budget is interesting too. Very impressive job.
