I genuinely thought that the plot was going to be that there was something in the lemonade that made them sound good, and that's why the lemonade machine being removed was such a big deal
her story is so sad and the fact that all of them didn't realize how much she needed the band was so sad because in the end they all had their own thing that their parents were pushing on them but she only had the band
mo having this much of the plot is hilarious bc i literally did not remember her being part of the group, all these years i thought it was a 5 piece band
I know it is a joke, but people would totally listen to a band talking about how great they are. Like, people listen to rappers saying they're the best in the game and they make stupid money, so it's not a total stretch to think that
fr rappers going out and saying "I'm the shit!", and its gone so far that they legit saying objective statements about themselves, like sexyy red saying "My coochie pink, my booty-hole brown", like bro, we already knew that!
I used to love the movie but reading the book made me realize how neutered the original story was. It was way more rich and organic, and more understandable in why Lemonade Mouth was propelled into popularity so quickly. Their unorthodox instruments (which makes it more believable that they randomly came together than just happening to have all the pieces of a traditional band fall into place) and brand of music made them stand out from the rest. I get avoiding the more the more sexual parts but I would love to hear the music I read in the book. I headcanon the lemonade has some magical properties that gives them a physic link in the movie for some of those unbelievable parts.
as a kid, i always liked how charlie didn't end up with Mohini bc I thought it was "realism" I thought it was cool that for once, a character isn't automatically given their crush by the end of the movie

i was just writing my commentary along watching the video, cuz i always end up having too many thoughts on lemonade mouth over here, and it literally turned into a "yeah well in the book" rant, i am an insane person and this movie has no right holding this much power over me still. anyway, commentary afoot: 1:09 i am one of the four people who read it, that and the sequel. the changes are mostly all to make the movie appropriate for disney channel, so while it doesn't alter too much, it's like the book answers questions the movie makes you ask. and the big change is obviously the mo and charlie ending, ie they are together in the book. 2:32 haley kiyoko can't help but make all her characters gay, it's simply in her blood, and we thank her for it. velma in scooby doo? gay. stevie in wizards of waverly place? super gay. it's like when eliott page used to play straight women and the gays were like okay no one believes you, nice try. 3:23 i know it's the bit but her dad is not a conservative muslim haha, they're hindu. it's still no better, especially since it was written by a white man, like okay sir, thank you for more of that. 4:48 it was during class, she skippe dit to read, but the point remains 8:02 this bugs me every rewatch, in the book she just wrote them notes and slipped them in their bags/lockers when they weren't looking, like she doesn't have their numbers!!! cue the alex meyers jingle *disney channel movies, they don't always make sense* 10:28 wow, he just like me fr 15:42 well, he did kill somone but the lemonade thing is better lmao 21:46 i knew the joke was building there and it was so satisfying lmao 23:41 i didn't know that was the reason! there is a whole ass second book! granted it would not work with the canon of the movie, and it was written after, so i guess, but feel that i, as an 11 year old at the time, could've cooked them up a sequel pretty easily 24:33 i have to agree on that, having 5 leads makes it almost impossible to develop all of them properly, especially in a 90 min movie. none of the relationships feel fleshed out, and some characters get way more screen-time than others. in the book you at least get their inner monologue so you know what's up with them, plus they have other friends outside the band, so you get to see different sides to them, and since you don't have to film anything, you can say things like wen and stella hung out all day, you can't really show that naturally in the movie. like i think they're friends, but i have 2 books of development in my brain that the movie doesn't. 25:58 like charlie getting literally no character. the fact that they changed his ending with mo kinda kills half his story already. and the other big interesting thing about him (because his personality is pretty chill, he is a go with the flow kind of person, he doesn't have much going on) is that his brother was a dead twin that he talked to in his head. so not really something you can translate to a kids movie easily. so he got nothing. and mo got everything. which to be fair hers and wen's arcs are the ones that feel the most like they have a natural story progression, so i understand, but it was messy indeed. 25:10 yeah i have always been confused by the redemption of scott, it's pretty rare for the asshole bf to get a second chance in anything ever. and especially since mo and him don't get back together in the book. like maybe they just liked the actor?? he gets more of a redemption in the sequel, he gets a gf that helps him see the error of his ways, and moe and charlie are chill with him, it's basically just wen who's mad at him for what he did to mo? very weird 26:51 it might've been a weird fit but i wish they kept the story from the book where stella got the results of an IQ test that made her think she was stupid and basically motivated her to make the band succeed to prove she was worth something. cuz they literally keep the line in the group vent where she says she thinks she's too stupid for her family, but they don't give the context that her family are all literal geniuses and she's average. oh and in the end turns out she just had a learning diability. great video as always, just slay after slay
maybe they could have shown that anxiety girl gets comfort from lemonade bc of history or happy moments or beloved family member who supports her has lemonade to do with it. and then show that lemonade doesnt cure her anxiety but it helps calms her nerves a little to give her a little courage to help with stage fright
HiKei: *labels Olivia White as "White" for her "intro"* Also HiKei: why is Olivia obsessed with lemonade??? Me: 👀👀👀👀 I hadn't watched this DCOM (by the time it came out, I was graduating high school and already in my "I'm too good for DCOMs" phase, but was I really?), but honestly, looks like one I would have enjoyed. I'll have to check out the songs! Thanks for another fun review!
The funniest joke in the movie is when they are trying to come up with a band name the Wen says he has one then flips through is notebook for a minute and goes “Wen”
I might! But I loved that movie so much I may not be able to effectively poke fun out of it. I'm a big enough man to admit I'd be a biased reviewer for that movie
not to say i know more about the characters than the writers but i feel like it would've made more scene if charlie got his injury bc of the pressure he felt from his parents to be like his brother, but this would also require them developing him as more than the crush he had on mo, so they clearly weren't going to let that happen.
The school district I was in had a deal with Pepsi so the only drinks we could legally sell both in vending machines and at concession stands were PepsiCola products... but only diet because Michelle said.
I remember when this movie came out. I liked it and at first was surprised and disappointed it didn't get a sequel. Then I saw the Wikipedia explanation years ago and I get it. Yeah, as much as I would have liked seeing them all again like this, they really DID wrap up everything there was to here. Unless they wanted to expand it OUT of their HS like what happened with High School Musical 2. Mo as the main character at one point....this could have been the Spin of the 2010s (Another DCOM that came out a couple years ago but the Indian girl there IS the main character.) But yeah, for it to have worked, they'd have needed to do more with her character than they did. AND make her storylines cohesive and workable. Stella as the main character ALSO could have worked, but like with Mo, more needs to be done.
Wow I did not remember the entire second half of this movie. Great review, your explanation is really entertaining and I like seeing your opinions on different aspects of the movie.

I have no life and did research because I was curious if Lemonade Mouth really was the only movie that won awards from the films you reviewed. I only went as far back as your recommendation of Edge Runners; Speaking of; Zach Aguilar won the best Dub Voice Actor award for his work as David Martinez and it won anime of the year. It also won best sci-fi and best original screenplay in the Trending Anime awards. Wakanda Forever was nominated for... a lot... I won't list everything, but it was nominated for 110 awards and won 34. Yes, Angela Basset was snubbed at the Oscars. It should have been her or Stephanie Hsu. Emoji Movie won awards! At the Razzies it won 4 awards for Worst Director, First Screenplay, Worst Screen Combo and Worst Picture. It was actually the first animated film to get any of those awards. Morbious also won two awards at the Razzies. Worst Actor and Worst Supporting Actress lol. Glass Onion won 32 of the 87 awards it was nominated for. And Scott Pilgrim was nominated for 59 awards over the course of like 3 yrs and won 19.
Naomi Scott having more plot than the other stars of the band? Disney KNEW that they would make her a big star once everyone else left the company. At least Bridgit Mendler became an official Doctor. Ms. Scott became a Sultan & a Power Ranger.
i have a cat plushie thing like that but its eyes are open and the spot on the top is slightly different not related whatsoever to the video but i just found it interesting
This is the exact opposite of how money flows in schools. The sports programs are the ones who MAKE money. Money is then taken from the sports teams to go toward arts and sciences. This is why sports often have such a high budget - Because they are where the money comes from in the first place.
25:04 apparently in the book Charlie and Mo get together, but not in the movie because the guy playing Charlie is 15. Edit: which I find weird because if you've seen starstruck Sterling Knight is in his mid 20s and the girl is like 15 or 16. Same with Another Cinderella Story... Maybe the actress spoke against it and asked for the change because it would be weird... Which makes me question some things about Drew and Sterling.
Oh. Sounds like how Daniel and Jessie weren't put together in KK3 because of their age difference. (She was 16, he was 27) Mo's actress was 18 and Charlie's actor was 14 when they were filming, so understandable even though she was BARE MINIMUM legal back then.
Wait so Stella wasn't the main character? That seems wrong. I never saw the movie but just going off vibes I super thought she was the main character. I do like it when teenage characters have cringy dialogue because teenagers are kinda cringy. At least I was when I was a teen.
What if the letter that Olivia sends her dad at the end just gets confiscated by the prison because her dad did some shit so fucking inhumane he’s not allowed outside contact?💀Nahhh she’d go right back to the Lemonade addiction
Two fun facts: Fact one: this movie was filmed in my home city Albuquerque New Mexico Fact two: my grandma helped with some of the clothes on the movie
Actually, the more you get into this film the more you realize how derivative of ethnic stereotypes the conflicts are. All of the main actors of color are biracial, so you get the sense the writer's room didn't have much diversity. Also, Stella's actress does have a female partner, so you're not off there And I find it so ironic that she lost her voice after drinking so much lemonade. All that sugar is probably why three of the characters have issues regulating their emotions healthily
Stella really made me go "Question authority? More like question my sexuality."

I tried something like two scoops in a solo cup once, and that stuff was so sweet it was borderline undrinkable. I cannot IMAGINE drinking seven scoops of that per can. Two cans would probably give you diabetes with how much sugar that is.
Fun fact: the principal is played by Christopher McDonald, who not only played Shooter McGavin in Happy Gilmore, but also played Goose McKenzie in Grease 2 (yes, that’s a thing, and he’s one of the T-Birds). He’s also in Flubber, SLC Punk, The Iron Giant, Requiem for a Dream, Spy Kids 2 (as the president), an Ultraman Zero English dub, and We Can Be Heroes. So uh, he’s been in several different things
I appreciate the Christopher McDonald lore lol
I just realized about the Sky kids 2 thing LOL
Wasn't he also Biff Tannon in Back to the Future? Or is that someone else?
@@RespectedGamer72 no, it’s not Biff.
love how you assumed no one knows about Grease 2... because I definitely didn't lol.. watching it now chief.
Also fun fact, the actor who plays Principal Brenigan also plays the president in Spy Kids 2. We love a crossover episode!
Oh! I never even noticed since he was on screen for all of 34 and a half seconds lol
me being 17 with a 28 year old stepmom and a 41 year old dad 🥱
Just gonna leave that there
That is a very Japanese anime plot
@@legojedimasterplokoon2173 wild thing to say but somewhat understandable
i was just writing my commentary along watching the video, cuz i always end up having too many thoughts on lemonade mouth over here, and it literally turned into a "yeah well in the book" rant, i am an insane person and this movie has no right holding this much power over me still. anyway, commentary afoot:
1:09 i am one of the four people who read it, that and the sequel. the changes are mostly all to make the movie appropriate for disney channel, so while it doesn't alter too much, it's like the book answers questions the movie makes you ask. and the big change is obviously the mo and charlie ending, ie they are together in the book.
4:48 it was during class, she skippe dit to read, but the point remains
8:02 this bugs me every rewatch, in the book she just wrote them notes and slipped them in their bags/lockers when they weren't looking, like she doesn't have their numbers!!! cue the alex meyers jingle *disney channel movies, they don't always make sense*
10:28 wow, he just like me fr
15:42 well, he did kill somone but the lemonade thing is better lmao
21:46 i knew the joke was building there and it was so satisfying lmao
23:41 i didn't know that was the reason! there is a whole ass second book! granted it would not work with the canon of the movie, and it was written after, so i guess, but feel that i, as an 11 year old at the time, could've cooked them up a sequel pretty easily
24:33 i have to agree on that, having 5 leads makes it almost impossible to develop all of them properly, especially in a 90 min movie. none of the relationships feel fleshed out, and some characters get way more screen-time than others. in the book you at least get their inner monologue so you know what's up with them, plus they have other friends outside the band, so you get to see different sides to them, and since you don't have to film anything, you can say things like wen and stella hung out all day, you can't really show that naturally in the movie. like i think they're friends, but i have 2 books of development in my brain that the movie doesn't.
25:10 yeah i have always been confused by the redemption of scott, it's pretty rare for the asshole bf to get a second chance in anything ever. and especially since mo and him don't get back together in the book. like maybe they just liked the actor?? he gets more of a redemption in the sequel, he gets a gf that helps him see the error of his ways, and moe and charlie are chill with him, it's basically just wen who's mad at him for what he did to mo? very weird
26:51 it might've been a weird fit but i wish they kept the story from the book where stella got the results of an IQ test that made her think she was stupid and basically motivated her to make the band succeed to prove she was worth something. cuz they literally keep the line in the group vent where she says she thinks she's too stupid for her family, but they don't give the context that her family are all literal geniuses and she's average. oh and in the end turns out she just had a learning diability.
great video as always, just slay after slay
I really like getting such long comments lol. They're always fun to read :)
maybe they could have shown that anxiety girl gets comfort from lemonade bc of history or happy moments or beloved family member who supports her has lemonade to do with it. and then show that lemonade doesnt cure her anxiety but it helps calms her nerves a little to give her a little courage to help with stage fright
HiKei: *labels Olivia White as "White" for her "intro"*
Also HiKei: why is Olivia obsessed with lemonade???
Me: 👀👀👀👀
I hadn't watched this DCOM (by the time it came out, I was graduating high school and already in my "I'm too good for DCOMs" phase, but was I really?), but honestly, looks like one I would have enjoyed. I'll have to check out the songs!
Thanks for another fun review!
it was in front of me all along lmao
As a white kid, I can confirm
@Normal Human I wish I could laugh react to this 🤣 thank you for validating this with your expertise 🤘
the fact that hayley hates lemonade makes this movie funnier😭😭
you’re so right about Determinate tbh. also i laughed so hard at “how much lemonade does this girl drink?”
The funniest joke in the movie is when they are trying to come up with a band name the Wen says he has one then flips through is notebook for a minute and goes “Wen”
The Nintendo sound effects combined with your humor is so perfect thank you for being on RUclips 😭
Of course! We love our lord and savior Nintendo!
Could you make a video about Let It Shine? It is my absolute favorite Disney movie
I always felt like this movie was Naomi Scott’s audition tape for Aladdin
Yeah this movie didn't really seem to know how to flesh out its characters. Or at least that's the impression I got.
@@hikeilokei That makes sense now that you mention it.
charlie was done SO DIRTY with lack of screen time! he was hot drummer boi and i stan
The thing with Lemonade Mouth is that it's a literal adaptation of a book so coming up with a sequel from the book they already did kinda makes sense.
3:11 “not avan jogia” is so foul 😭😭
We know who he wishes he was
Wow I did not remember the entire second half of this movie. Great review, your explanation is really entertaining and I like seeing your opinions on different aspects of the movie.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Lol I’m glad I found your channel! You’re so funny!! 😭😭

another banger released so close to me subscribing hell yeah😎
that joke about lemonade based classic conditioning almost made me spit out my drink… and yes it WAS lemonade😳😳
Please tell me you poured lemonade specifically because this is a lemonade mouth video
As someone whose school also put all the art and non core classes in the basement, I was partly obligated to like this movie as a teen
who is gonna tell him the guy who played wen just got out of prison
I just want you to know you were in my dream last night… I remember that in the dream i was watching one of your videos and you gave Zombies 3 a score of 2/10 and a bunch of people in the comments were yelling at you and typing paragraphs because of it. H u h
What a weird ass dream 😭
@@hikeilokei who knows it might be a ~vision of the future ~ on what’ll happen if you ever make another review for any of the zombie movies lol
I remember in second grade our teacher showed us this movie while giving us lemonade.
I don't think I would've ever forgotten that, honestly that sounds sweet of them :)
I have no life and did research because I was curious if Lemonade Mouth really was the only movie that won awards from the films you reviewed. I only went as far back as your recommendation of Edge Runners;
Speaking of; Zach Aguilar won the best Dub Voice Actor award for his work as David Martinez and it won anime of the year.
Sorry I meant Commentaries I made 😭. But thank you for the interesting research!
Lemonade Mouth, Sweet or Sour? It's a lot more memorable and after this video, I think it still holds up
Stella had me acting up back in the day
Based for that
Naomi Scott having more plot than the other stars of the band? Disney KNEW that they would make her a big star once everyone else left the company. At least Bridgit Mendler became an official Doctor. Ms. Scott became a Sultan & a Power Ranger.
as a kid i genuinely thought they were just drinking mikes
I wish but unfortunately "underaged drinking" is "illegal"
Mel was old college buddies with Wen's dad, that's why he was at the wedding.
Lemonade mouth music is the best music change my mind
I can't because it literally does
i have a cat plushie thing like that but its eyes are open and the spot on the top is slightly different
not related whatsoever to the video but i just found it interesting
Squishmallows are awesome and you want to buy them
This is the exact opposite of how money flows in schools.
(She was 16, he was 27)
Mo's actress was 18 and Charlie's actor was 14 when they were filming, so understandable even though she was BARE MINIMUM legal back then.
Yeah that makes sense to be fair
@@kagemaru397 it would still be weird for a 18 year old to date a 14 year old.
@@babyfaceweeb8937 Agreed And illegal in the US. (my country)
Wait so Stella wasn't the main character? That seems wrong. I never saw the movie but just going off vibes I super thought she was the main character. I do like it when teenage characters have cringy dialogue because teenagers are kinda cringy. At least I was when I was a teen.
I found you through your Emoji movie video and damn dude, you are so fucking funny
Thank you and based pfp by the way
What if the letter that Olivia sends her dad at the end just gets confiscated by the prison because her dad did some shit so fucking inhumane he’s not allowed outside contact?💀Nahhh she’d go right back to the Lemonade addiction
Where do i get a lemonade machine bruh i wanna try the lemonade
i had to stop the video, go watch determinate, then came back
No yeah, I don't blame you
Still waiting for Hayley Kiyoko to show up here
It’ll happen eventually
Dang bro they really put Beck in this movie thought my guy was better than that this ain't Where It's At fam💀
I was not expecting to hear the salmon run music during this video
No one ever does 😭
This movie was the peak of my childhood. Can't wait to see the chaos you morph it into
Lemonade mouth, Cheetah Girls and Let it shine are my favorite musical Dcom and I always wanted the movie to have a sequel
Two fun facts:
Fact one: this movie was filmed in my home city Albuquerque New Mexico
Fact two: my grandma helped with some of the clothes on the movie
Yes yes it was good thanks for asking
Actually, the more you get into this film the more you realize how derivative of ethnic stereotypes the conflicts are. All of the main actors of color are biracial, so you get the sense the writer's room didn't have much diversity. Also, Stella's actress does have a female partner, so you're not off there
And I find it so ironic that she lost her voice after drinking so much lemonade. All that sugar is probably why three of the characters have issues regulating their emotions healthily
Pls do camp rock 😭💀
