Fascinating! The IOG was a thriving hub of industry in the past, the BP refinery and bitumen plant, several quarries, Kingsnorth Power Station, and latterly theThamesport container terminal. Ah well, such is the wonderful past!
I grew up in Riverview Park Gravesend and as a youngun spent plenty of time getting numbers at Hoo junction yard during the early eighties and remember those Isle of grain freights . Motive power in those days were predominantly cromptons and EDs . I was chuffed if rarely a 47 was stabled there . Great video Rambler, I'm a big fan .
Great video. Always interesting to see what it's like from your perspective. I live in Grain. I'm assuming at the end of the video where you come to a standstill, that's the level crossing just ahead of you before the village?
Any info on the building at 14.05? Seems a strange place to build a house (if thats what it is), especially with the side facing the track being almost completely glass! Looks like you're at just the right height to look straight in!
That building is a house, newly built on the site of a single storey one, it is a reverse living house, bedrooms downstairs, living room upstairs, with big windows to take in the views, and yes I can look straight in...
Stunning! Thank you.
Looks like the trees along the right-a-way could do with a bit of trimming.
Great video.

Also many moons ago it used to be a passenger line but was downgraded to freight only
Word is soon it will carry passengers again if developers get their houses built round that way

Do you have to wait for the engine revs to fully drop before applying brake?
Wow! Functioning semaphore signals. A great run.
Just shut off power...
Thanks.
