I’m just happy with forward at the moment
Draw at the moment, has been for a while so am now playing to it.
I play a “power slice” 😅 Working on transforming that in a “playable fade”
Aim left brah....
I’ve always hit my irons straight with a touch of fade to them. I used to slice my driver and now I push everything right with it now. It’s been a work in progress. Thanks for the great tips and vids.
Working with a fade right now. The "frisbee" feel for my lead had is a daily routine when ever I pick up a club. Lots of good ideas here.
Id like help with low point control, it is by far my nemesis. I never take a divot (yes greenkeepers love me lol)
I'd love to be a picker like that!
Probably the biggest cause of frustration for a hell of a lot of golfers, me included!
Same
I was a slicer for years until I saw one of your videos from a few years ago about wrist flex, I now hit it fairly straight or with a slight draw.
High and weak with my irons.
My bad shot is a pull at the moment. This video and others you do have started to make me experiment when I am at the range, it makes going to the range much more enjoyable.
I hit a slight fade/slice. The turning of the right on way down idea is what I’m trying to do at the moment. Nice and clear and helps me think I may be on the right path.
Definitely SAVING vid for re-imagining twist & frisbee after trying. Drawing driver thru 5i, fade on shorter.
Also "All the Time in the World" (but weather is going wrong way).
Always left to right fade or straight left loved the bit on wrist angles🤞
I've gone from playing a fade to being able to control whether I play a fade or a draw with some great lessons and guidance.
I know this is an old video but I found it extremely insightful, particularly the trail wrist move to start the downswing. TY
A am predominately a slicer. Have been working on these wrist movements after watching andrew rices vid on it. This helps give another perspective on it.
Love it.
My shot shape is a fade. I am working on moving the ball from right to left. Great video with drills to work on. Thank you!
I m a slicer! I know that my problem is OUT to IN and i dont think any twisting of the club will help! i tried :D sooo yeah i need a light ball moment to deal with my out to in swing. thank you very much Mark you have got the best channel on youtube for golf hands down!
Generally play a gentle fade when I strike it well. Bad shot is straight pull left. Tendency to come over the top so these drills are perfect! Thanks brah 👍🏼
was all slice for 1st 6 years then fellow golfer had me stand with left foot directly in front of right foot ( i'm a right hand golfer) took my 5 iron and on second swing hit a draw with increased distance. 2 years later and stronger grip am now hitting 75% of my iron shots with a pull to the left. Driver is 50% pull and 50% slice still and a couple flukey minor fade long drives to catch a fairway. Admittedly have a couple broken drivers in my past learning curve. 1 was pure accident while practicing in to out swing around an alignment rod. oops. thanks for the vids. really enjoy and have taken lots of tips to the range with me.
Was hitting a draw/hook for awhile kept getting my grip stronger thinking I could keep better control of my wrists. Then I went for a lesson and first thing he changed was my grip. No mo draw, but I instantly started getting better heights on the ball and straight to fade on my shots,.
Always been a slice but moving that with woods thanks to your wrist angle ideas over the last 6months. I now need to try and get the same into my irons (they used to be straight but seem to have lost then since I've gained control of the woods) thanks
A lovely little lemonade, I'm working on trying to shape shots at the moment.
I slice my driver but hook my irons... so I keep watching your videos to help
Seems to be working so far!
pull hooking atm .. as well as the start of summer. And slicing in the middle months. Golf is fun.
Good info, and exactly what my coach has me working on, to get rid of a push fade that I'm causing by an occasional block. My natural shot shape gas been a pull fade, but the misses are not playable. So with the help of a swing coach and lessons we have changed that to a draw down the center and my miss block is straight to the right and playable
Been using foam practice balls hitting against the side of house to work on swing during lockdown. I wet them before using to see the strike pattern on the face. Very interesting. Irons were consistently out of the heel which I think explains the straight pull left I was seeing on the course. I have moved further away from the ball to centre my strike now. Now to test it on the course (and clean the ball marks off the house)
Great Tips Mark, used to be a weak slice. Have strengthened grip somewhat and now getting a power hook/draw
Straight/slight draw on irons 7 - PW and a fade on the longer clubs. Nothing horrendous, thankfully - at least since having some lessons earlier in the year. The tips are great - keep them coming!
I draw the ball, and have worked on a frisbee drill to get the feeling of holding off or not releasing the right hand too early. Right now just working on staying more neutral with my wrist rotations.
I battled with a slice for years. Lessons with my local pro didn’t really help. Decided that I’d go for a driver fitting with a different pro and took your advice to treat it as a lesson. First thing he said was that the ball was too far forward in my stance resulting in a cricket bat shot. Moved the ball back (felt like loads, but was actually just inside my right heel) and helped massively. Now hitting quite a slight fade that gets a bit slicey if I try and step on it. I think that may be because I get a bit over the top when I try and put my back into it!! Contrary to most it seems, I’m more than happy to hit a little fade as long as I know what to expect!!
Great video Mark! My normal Mishit is a huge slice to the right! I’ve been working on wrist angle at takeaway and top of backswing, which has worked mostly but given me some mishits to the left, which never used to happen!
I play a slice as a miss. Worked hard on the face to path which is helping in most cases
The infamous slice. As soon that something is a little off in my swing, big fade to slice ! Working hard to fix it and watching your videos from Canada !
I try whenever possible to hit a straight shot and that hopefully allows for a none intentional fade or draw that is not too far off line. Great in theory but not always successful in practice. I will certainly give changing grip position a try and see what results. Please keep the helpful content coming during lockdown.
I'm inconsistent at the moment, hit fad to slice most and some pull hooks. Working on downswing transition and hand position at the top of my swing
Had a very strong grip for years and just made a leap to change it. Seems you can be functional no matter what grip you have 👏
To be honest, I'm only just beginning to get some sense of control over my right elbow (trying to keep it in tight, Hogan-style) and get the ball going straight down the line. But I shall be workiing on that frisbee wrist thing at the driving range to try to shape the ball. Good stuff!
I have a bad slicing problem, it's to the point where I'm changing my set up and club face to adjust the results of my swing. I've watched you and Matt since I started playing (2 months ago) and you guys have helped a lot.
I hit a fade and slice it sometimes.. I would love to be able to shape it right to left more often. This video and the one on Facebook will hopefully help. 👍🏻
I normally hit a fade, loving the video and have set up a hitting net in the back garden.
Thanks for all of your help over the years Mark my stock shot is a fade
Mark love the show Mate. Thank you for the dedication to it. I am a fader with the driver and a drawer with the high flying Irons but with the help and tips you give I am much more comfortable taking the ball each way now. The ones that work for me to create a draw are;
1. Early extention of the wrist at the start of the down swing. Really try and get that face ahead of the hands at impact.
2. Transfer of weight more back in the back swing.
3. Set up. Naturally
4. Shift my hips forward at the start of the down swing then rotate them. I have found that if I am stuck with a slice this works really well to jolts me out of it and use this trick helps me get back to drawing after I had to fade a couple of shots. So do a draw setup back swing and wack the ball with out or with as little as possible hip rotation, thus keeping those hips in the top of the swing position, standby for serious hooks.
Thanks again
Take care
Jacques Maritz
BAD SLICE FOR YEARS. FINALLY STRAIGHTENED IT OUT INTHE LAST FEW YEARS PRIMARILY DUE TO YOU THANKS MARK!
Like most i've been fighting a slice all my life. Thanks to your vids i' starting to win, The last time i played i could feel the club face throughout the swing in the same way i do with my irons, great feeling.
still trying to learn to shape the ball but thats still beyond me and have to settle for a slight cut
Great video. I need help with hitting my longer irons higher. 4/5 irons are very low, get good distance and lots of run but need help to hold greens. I feel my 6-8 go a little to far because they come out lower than my playing partners too. Thank you Mark!
i have a fade to slice shot shape so hope these tips will help control the club face. Thanks for the content and new club ;-)
Great tips Mark. Lucky to be in Wales so out for round number 3 in the morning at Wenvoe Castle, struggling with wrist angles after getting rid of my slice and now it’s going the other way. Especially with the driver! Happy to send in some videos as not getting lessons going in and out lockdown has not helped 😂 stay safe and don’t go too crazy. Now pimp my bag with that driver!
My bad shot is the slice, but I normally play a fade, have done since I was a youngster, but when it goes wrong it's a big slice...great tips Mark....
Just looking forward to getting back out there on the green stuff....
Since strengthening my grip I got a case of the lefts so the tips to flex the wrists on back swing/down swing will help - Thanks Mark - any tips to remind me how to get to swing more to the right while in lock down would be appreciated
It a fade for me was a slice but been working hard and now starting to get a bit of control. 😁
I actually hit the ball fairly straight with a slight draw sometimes. Great content!
THese videos are great! really helping me understand my swing better!
Slice is def my bad shot, not as often as it used to be thanks to your videos and lessons but still comes out every now and then
Glad to see this video, as it confirms some adjustments I've made in my swing to correct my fairly consistent slice. The adjustments made an immediate impact. Still working on changing my club path, but nice improvement over the summer.
I play a low fade. And there was definitely a 💡 moment during this vid, thanks.
I've been a slicer for the first 5 months of my golfing after a few lessons I now have stats of left miss 38% hit 29% and right miss 32% progress made through a set up change during the lessons
Slice my driver and all ways missing left on the irons. Keep the advice coming.
I’m prone to a fade with my driver and hybrid and hit a pretty reliable draw with my irons.
Also my suggestion for a new video on drills to help control low point in a consistent way. It’s probably the main thing I struggle with. Thanks for all you do. Best wishes to you and your family.
Good video, thanks. I am working on some swing changes at the moment with a coach, biggest problem at the moment is pully bomb balls, same problem coach had a year ago.
My stock shot with my scoring irons is normally straight, but I do hit a draw on occasion. Very seldom do I slice or hit fades. Funny, on my longer irons and my 22 and 19 degree clubs I tend to hit more of a baby draw, but I can hit them straight also. Driver is mostly straight, sometimes with a slight draw, but Every now and then I hit hooks, and on a rare occasion a fairly big fade will works it's way into my swing, not by choice I assure you.
I found this video very helpful, will do these tomorrow at the range..Thanks Mark.
Great video. Definite aha moment. Hitting a soft fade would be ideal.
I recently changed irons. Used to always hit a draw but now getting a fade which I dont really enjoy but that's just my preference. Will use these drills and see what comes of it
Watching this vid for the third time, I thinking about what I tend to do with my wrists. The frisbee throw idea is intriguing. I need to get a club out and give that a try...
I play straight to fade go to shot with driver. Irons I am more on the power draw shape. Working on flighting and shaping my irons at will.
Very helpful. Will try the strong grip on my slice
Firstly, a big shout out to all you golfers in the UK. Stay well and stay safe during this latest lockdown.
As a former Black Country lad now living in Arizona, I am very lucky to be able to get out in the fine weather and practice. I was able to try these tips this afternoon and I have to say there was one that was a revelation.
The epiphany starts at 4:09. I have done lots of work recently with coaches on tucking the elbow to prevent an over the top motion but was still getting a lot of heel strikes on my driver. I tried adhjusting setup position, especially the distance to the ball, but to no avail. Then the 4:09 epiphany happened.
I tried the trail hand wrist flex at the range today and the results were magical. It was like all of a sudden every strike found the center of the clubface. I warn you now that it feels weird. My brain was telling me that I was opening up the club face (but I ignored it). I set the wrist and felt the club feel like it was falling behind me and then went through the downswing.
Still work to do on rythm and motion (getting the brain out of the way of backswing, pull elbow in, set wrist angle, let club fall, squat more to allow more power generation is going to be fun) but the results here were epic. Thank you for showing the way.
I am a regular watcher and have been for a couple years. I know I asked you this once before but didn't get a response. This subject really brings my issue home. My issue is I have had 3 right wrist fusion surgeries(right handed golfer). My wrist is frozen straight and trying to get any shaft lean or delofting the club seems impossible. I haven't given up. I am 60 years old now and used to be able to play decent(pre surgeries) enough to make me happy. I have lost alot of power too obviously. Any suggestions, drills etc. Thanks always for the great content....
Thank you so much for this, these are the type of things that I want to know (how to control the face during the swing) I need concrete examples like this to feel like I have some chance to determine what the outcome of my swing is going to be
Draw my irons and wedges with a downward angle of attack mega slice for the driver. Would love to see more on breaking down the swing to hit more up on the ball.
Thanks for the video
I have always hooked the ball
I used to be a serious slicer of the ball. I've never had a lesson but ive taken instruction from varios youtube videos over the last year or so (including some of yours!) and now I hit the ball straight. Shot after shot with my 19 degree hybrid just goes straight as an arrow. Which is aparently quite rare?!
love your channel been watching for years i have a problem slicing the ball
I like hitting a draw with the shorter irons and a fade with the long irons. The driver is usually a slight fade. I try to shape my fairway wood shots but it doesn’t always work out.
Loved the video, a low hook has been my bad shot for some time now. Some drills on hitting up on the ball with the driver would be good.
After playing for twenty years I have just managed to draw my driver and am loving it!
Draw. Good stuff. Thanks. I'm at the point where I'm focusing on face control. Have incorporated a bit of flexion in my full swing and went from fading to drawing. Have had a devil of a time feeling the face but recently it's started coming around (thanks to practice and videos like yours).
Hope it helps thanks for the comment.
A leaky fade is my weak shot if I'm honest! Keep the great lockdown tips coming...
I used to do both. Ive removed the slice so now working on controlling the hook
Love these videos and the tips and exercises are great - I draw with my driver and fade with my irons - more by luck than judgement!
Used to a slice or fade player. Only ever saw the right hand side of the course. Recently after a series of lessons in a happy draw player with the occasional hook !
My miss is duck hook, I play with a strong grip, great tips, love it. K
It's either a right right (push slice) or a left left (pull hook) for me! Good shots normally a draw, weirdly I find it easier to draw the ball from an open stance
Interesting vid. I tend to have a natural draw, always have since junior days. The problem i have is that my bad shot is anything from big hook to high slice. Nightmare to play with. Will try the wrist angles!
Always struggled with a hook with my irons, working hard to get it back to being a bit straighter this year
Its a smap hook on a bad day and a gorgeous draw on a good day. So, I hit a hook 99% of the time. Great video Mark.
I play more with a slice but can be erratic at times with the occasional duck hook. I really like the ideas on club path as this is essentially impacting on strike, but I am conscious of early extension impacting on the face and path and would welcome a video on that please. 👍
Hit if fairly straight this year. Have slight draw and slight fade at times... but mostly straight.
I'm currently having lessons so one week they're left then we work on getting them towards the right. My last lesson (which seems like eons ago, thanks covid!) I was hitting them pretty straight, whoohoo!
I tend to hit the ball left with my bad shots , will check the grip 🤔 great video Mark 👌
LOVING THE RETURN OF THE FACE BALL!!! Wonder if Mrs. Parfield ever gets nervous seeing you practicing wrist angles with the china. LOL
Currently working on this... Still hitting a fade, but a lot of that is strike on the heel. I want to know how to think about changing that strike pattern with the longer clubs as I notice that my bladey bladey irons I generally strike OK, but the longer stuff with the fatter and squatter heads are all heely heely...
Slice but have made improvements with wrist angles and neutralizing my grip.
My miss is a hook left; can't wait to try this on the course!
I hit a push to the right. Gonna have to try this frizbee motion idea
Slice is my shot, good video going to give these ideas a go thanks. 👍
I used to have a big slice but a had some lessons now its straight to a slight fade with im Happy to play with i just aim 5 yards left
Hi Mark, love the content. My miss has always been a low hook off to the left, but hoping to sort this out over the winter! All best, Phil
I enjoy a cut but struggle for consistency, enjoy the content!
From a slice to a snap hook. I think i'm getting better!!!
Pretty new to all this so I hit it left and right.
High way right slice and hook with driver (hate that club) 6-4 iron pretty straight slight fade bias but can hook also lol 7-wedges usual straightish with slight draw. Only on good strikes when I shank toe or heal it goes anywhere but where I intended lol
played a fade, switched to a draw, and now working on hitting both but wanting the fade more as my stock shot
Can play both with my irons and woods. Driver I like to only fade as I feel its more controllable for me.
