    So much skill with so many manual hand tools, I feel like if you got some power tools, you'd accidentally build a house.

    I want to give you my highest commendations for your beautiful Stratocaster project! Your skills are extraordinary, the term "craftsman" does not say enough for you. Dan Erlewine himself would be saying; "I cannot teach him, I am now his student". I mean, you have demonstrated woodworking, tool making, and electronics expertise in how you have made nearly everything from scratch, and out of beautiful woods! You have more than earned the right to call yourself a guitar maker. I have learned a lot, and have had a lot of fun watching your videos. Thank you again, so very much!

    Hello from Russia. You show really great skill with a hand saw. I'm not new with that myself, but i'm afraid i now rely too much on powertools on rails and wouldn't risk to make such a long cuts by hand. Now seeing you, i'm properly impressed. So much, that gonna remember days of yore. :D
    Thanks man for these videos.

    Man never mind the guitar. I thought being able to cut wood like that with a hand saw was a lost art.

      Bluebuthappy182 That's one of the first things that came to mind watching this video - "look at those cuts he's making with a handsaw" - superior craftsmanship all the way around for sure.

      Mad skills to split a board in half 1:35. That radius he cut was impressive 7:34. Didn't even know you could curve that kind of saw.

      +Dreamdancer11 Thats awesome!! I'm so glad you have been able to build a couple, bet they sound great! I'm glad the vids provided a bit of 'how to' segments. Thanks for the kind words and great to hear that you have a couple a strats, very good stuff!!

    • @Dreamdancer11
      @Dreamdancer11 8 лет назад

      +elams1894 i barely used your videos....i dont have the skill or the tools to emulate what you do.I just made a couple or acrylic templates double sided taped them to a large piece of wood i previously glued on and i made neck through type strats with forstner bits chisels and a few drills....i bought the fingerboard premade so i had it a bit easier...
      Your videos provided the inspiration though to make the decision to do it.....You have too few views for such entertaining stuff....and yes the strats play great iam pretty happy with the result....made them all natural from mahogany and heavy as les pauls....

    You need a rip saw. I'm sure resawing those billets took a long time with a combination saw, but with a rip saw, they'd have been sawn about 5 times as fast (and it feels a lot better when you're sawing - something not easy to explain, but you can feel the resistance from the straws of the wood being severed instead of rasped as a combination saw does).

    I've never seen so much work go into building a strat neck. Obviously you are an extremely skilled craftsmen but using a double action trussrod would save three quarters of the procedures you did in this video, obviously you like building jigs and using hand tools and you do it exceedingly well so please do not think I'm knocking you in any way I think you are brilliant I just like to know what makes other builders decide to go the routs they go. Amazing video, amazing talent, shit I've seen nobody that can handle a carpenter's hand saw the way you can. Just awesome.

    Yep, It will be a full sized strat with large body and forearm carves. Callaham floating Tremolo bridge assembly (Vintage) and Gotoh Mini tuners. I'm putting paua inlays in the neck and it will be shellac finished. I haven't decided on pickups yet but I'll probably put my own winds in there. It will be humbucker in the bridge and single coils middle and neck. Haven't fully decided but I think I'll put a carbon pickguard on it and it will have a electrosocket jack mounted on the side. Thanks

    Hi Lewis. Absolutely no trees were cut down. Ancient kauri is recovered from swamps. The trees were flattened in a massive volcanic eruption 30-40,0000 years ago . They are being uncovered today from various farmlands. All native and endemic New Zealand trees are protected and I only use recycled old timber or wood from trees that have come down in storms. Thanks for comment.
