      Yes!! I can’t believe how nice that looks. I hope he leaves it like that you can actually see the plants and the plants themselves will thrive now versus having to scramble for light or air or space.

    Ooh, had a thought! (Got distracted while watching the bedroom restyling and had to get this down before I forgot so this may be edited later.) If you'd like more plant real estate, maybe look for a skinny sofa table that would fit on top of the bedroom window sill that would supply a second row of shelf space for more plants? I'm sure someone must make one that would be thin enough to fit on the sill, or maybe make one yourself if you can't find one that's the right height?

    On Etsy there are acrylic window shelves for about $75 depending on the size you get. Another idea is “L” brackets in the window frame and middle of window to hold up wooden shelves across the window. It looks like it’s take 6 brackets in the studs with a 2 inch thick board.

    Hey Nick. For the windows I was thinking like building a shelf across the window (4 rows) to put your "viney plants" to make it look like all natural blinds. For the open space above the kitchen again same thing, just build a shelf or hang your plants almost like a waterfall look. And for the rest of the plants just build/hammer in shelves (mind the water pipes). Casing point, you have PLENTY OF SPACE for to have fun with your plants. Have fun. 🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳🌳

    Hi Nick! What about building a shelf which would be even with the frame going across the middle of your bedroom window. You could attach it to the wide window frame at the sides of the window. Might not work though if your blind comes down, unless you put the smallest pots on it. Just a thought 😻🇨🇦

    Hi, was thinking about your bedroom window. If you could put some type of acrylic clear shelf from one end to the other way high up on the window and have more space for plants. Idk if you can see my idea. Love your videos and plants.

    Hi, Nick. Buy some extension rods for those windows, if you cant drill anywhere. You can make a "curtain" of hanging plants.

  • @vanessiek
    @vanessiek 2 года назад +3

    I would hang plants from that huge window. Amazon has great options for wall mounted rods (usually labeled for a closet or clothes) but they’re perfect for hanging plants in a window.

    Just a thought. As someone watching from afar, what I see is a line of soldiers (plants). Is there anyway you could try having different levels by elevating various plants either on plant stands or pillars. I know you can come from the top with hanging plants, but you have the middle third of the window under utilized. Just a thought. That way all the plants would not be in a straight line and you would have a curtain plants rather than just a line of plants.

  • @thegazetteyt
    @thegazetteyt 2 года назад +1

    Id put a shelf on that windowsill. Bold it to the wall. That way you could have three levels of plants. Have a small step tool in the space and presto, a wall of plans and you wouldn't need blinds anymore.

    Muffin practicing for her only cats page to launch :P
    I would totally do the fiddle leaf fig! That said, I bought a small one, I think it was like 2 feet, and it is like almost four feet now and its only been a few months. It stopped growing for a few weeks and then the heat came on so its back to growing happily so I am very happy I only spent 29 dollars on a small one instead of 120 on an already grown one! Also, I think because I got it as a baby, it has not been finicky AT ALL. It has moved a few times, been repotted, had different temperatures, lighting, drafts etc and no tantrums! I def think it's because it wasn't attached to the green house type of growth! Highly recommend getting a smaller one, you can always put the pot on a plant stand to get a bit more height while you wait! When you think the leaves are so big and they grow up first you really don't need to wait long for height!

My cat, Kya is a plant muncher, so that puts a serious limitation on where my plants can go. ...but I love her, and I can't hold it against her. She is who she is, lil plant muncher extroardinaire!!! Lol

    I love that your sharing the struggles in decision making in decorating, I'm enjoying this immensely 🤣 I'm about to move soon myself 😒
    Only One small suggestion if I may....?
    The window sill, in The bedroom, you need to pull all your hanging, Vining plants & dress up that area....take small shelves & put it on that middle beam between the windows and use your hanging plants to Soften the sides of that window. You can probably fit a window cushion to sit on on the side. And still have enough room for long dramatic translucent drapes. Just a suggestion 🥰

    Making one of your sills like a cactus and succulent garden would be cool. There are shallow wooden kitchen shelves that would help give you some height. I wonder if tension rods would be strong enough to hang some light hanging baskets in the window. Your walls are probably concrete which is probably why you have the exposed electrical.

    Oh no, you are having to deal with a leaky roof already, I hope they take care of that for you ASAP! Those old buildings are so solid, the walls are most likely brick behind the drywall. As far as the back room goes, that wide windowsill is great, you could put a closet rod system to hang plants. I love my houseplants, but sometimes i wish I didn't have any as they are a lot of care and take up so much space, not to mention that my 4 cats have taken over my south window in my living room where most of them were, now I have to put them in other rooms so the cats don't chew on them or knock them over. 😕😕😕

    When I moved from an old house with low ceilings to a really modern house with soaring ceilings, huge windows and skylights, I found that a couple of large, commercial wire shelving units were perfect for putting lots of plants on. Five feet wide, six feet tall and eighteen inches deep...with one having four shelves and the other having three...for taller plants.
    The tall shelving units were perfect, since they didn't look imposing in rooms with high ceilings...as they would have if the ceilings were low. Also, the shelves could be adjusted to whatever size plants that I wanted to put on them. I also got some rolls of linoleum remnants to put under the shelves so that when I watered the plants and spilled some water, it wouldn't damage the oak floors.
    I also got some low and wide wooden planters and lined them with black pool liner and filled them half full with potting soil...and placed pots of my taller plants in them. Since they're right near large windows, I can moisten the soil in the planters to provide extra humidity for the plants in there without having to drown them. I also had enough room for a large round clear glass vase, which I filled with rainwater and put some aquatic plants from my fishpond in.
    In the five years that I've lived here, my plants have become pretty large, but there's enough space for them to sprawl...space that I didn't have in my old home.
